Unique spot for family adventures!”
Bryan and Rosie have created a unique and fun experience, particularly for families. We went hiking, biking through farmland, made a rafting and floated down a river and learned how to do archery. We had teachers and guides with us educating us the whole time. The raft building was by far the most fun! We designed the raft and learned how to tie ropes. We had a room on the river in room 112 which was lovely. Each room has a comfortable porch. Bryan and Rosie are former teachers and have applied those skills to this unique vacation experience. They also offer programs for school groups. They have connections with the local community and provide service learning opportunities. For New Years eve, they had a Lahu hllltribe choir sing which was beautiful.

Laid back, relaxed and quit”
Probably one of the best places to stay between Faang and Chiang Rai (without having stayed everywhere, I guess). Nice deluxe chalets with view on a pond ( fishing was OK), next to Maekok River. Good location along the boardering hills to Myamar. Great offer of activities (from paddling over archery to climbing). Clearly recommended!

One of the best places we stayed in Thailand”
We booked one night and did not want to leave: the beautiful garden, the tasteful furnitured room and the great restaurant are exceptionell. Staff was very helpful, too. Consider to take the boat from Chiang Rai directly to the Hotel Pier.

Peaceful and surrounded by nature”
This is a lovely little resort right on the river. The resort’s gardens are beautiful and serene. The rooms are very clean and welcoming. Staff is beyond friendly as are the owners. Beyond being a resort it operates as a force for the economic and social development of the community. What they are doing is really admirable. Breakfast is excellent. So is the northern Thai food served at the restaurant. Seldom in my 18 years in Thailand have I had home style food served at a restaurant. If you happen to pass by Mae Ai, I can only recommend you to stay there.

Honesty rules!”
I accidentally put down the wrong bills to pay for dinner. The waitress immediately returned to point out my mistake and give me a chance to pay with the correct bills. Honesty is more important than anything else.

Great resort for families!”
My family and I stayed at Maekok River Village and had a wonderful time! Bryan and his staff were attentive and welcoming. We took advantage of the various activities on offer at the resort. The instructors/guides were so great as we hiked, kayaked, and built a bamboo raft. We also did the high ropes course and archery while at the resort. I highly recommend Maekok River Village if you are looking for some great outdoor experiences for you and your family.

Maekok River Village”
A very good place to stay, Brian and Rosie (the owners) really make an effort and the rooms are really clean and comfortable. Brian and Rosie can also organise trips for you and nothing is too much trouble. The restaurant staff are also attentive and do a great job. In short, I'd highly recommend a stay here. The surroundings are beautiful and yet it is a short distance from the town. I would suggest having your own vehicle is useful to enjoy the area. On the whole we had a very good experience here.

Beautiful resort along the Kok River with all facilities.”
Very well maintained holiday village with a large assortment of services. Large, clean rooms in the bungalows laid out in a beautiful parc with exotic trees, shrubs and flowers. Nice pool and restaurant. The ideal holiday destination in the North of Thailand at moderate rates.

Clean and affordable! ”
Very nice atmosphere, room was clean and enjoyed my stay. A bit too much chlorine in the swimming pool but that's my only remark. Would definitely come back!

Clean and comfortable stay”
Looks like we are the only guests on this day probably due to COVID. Quick check in procedure. Nice ambiance at the frontage of room and riverside. Sunset and Sunrise were absolutely beautiful.

Lovely family resort”
Comfortable and gorgeous design, big balconies and endless birds next to the river. This place is aged and the quality in the restaurant was low so that in that way it seemed overpriced however the owner and staff are lovely and this place is head and shoulder above what is available in the area.

Empty off season ”
We visited off season. The place was empty. No one in sight but someone at reception. The water in the pool was murky. There were long black hairs in the bathroom. The garden is beautiful and the restaurant and pool area has the potential of being a nice area to meet fellow guests and chill, but, as said, all was dark and quiet. A decent option if you’re in the area, but not worth a detour.

Great little resort in sleepy Thaton”
We stayed at the Maekok River Village with family while in Northern Thailand. This is a great little resort in sleepy Thaton where there are not a lot of other options of this caliber. We were very impressed with the design of the villa rooms, with an outdoor porch overlooking the lagoon, built-in couch and nooks in the room, and beautifully manicured and landscaped grounds along the bend of the Mae Nam Kok. We had dinner (both Thai and Western food is available) and breakfast at the restaurant with a panoramic view of the river, and both were delicious. This is a great little place which is very affordable and a great option!

Beautiful, Maekok river side, comfortable room”
I love the peacefulness of the small town, a nice ride up the river near to Myanmar border and scenic view from the mountain. Got a room near the river with nice balcony. Love the room. Staff are friendly. My kid's school was there for two nights activities. Will come back to visit Mae Ai and stay here again definitely. Went north a bit to the long neck and other hill tribe. Stopped to have Lao Ta coffee(hill tribe) along the way. It was great!
