Sala Phuket Resort & Spa oozes class and perfect for a getaway for family with young children or couple from the hustle and bustle of the city. Breakfast is fabulous and dinner is acceptable for hotel / resort standard. Sala has a theme dinner / activity on a daily basis for its guest and they provided everything you need for a perfect vacay / picnic by the beach, robe, beach slipper, beach mat, umbrella etc. Good choice of pillows and lotions / soap bar. Good turn down service and sufficient facilities for you to spend easily two to three days at the property such as SPA, gym, pool and sunset bar. You can also access the neighbouring property i.e Renaissance by foot. Enjoyed our time by the beach, by the pool, restaurant for breakfast / dinner and sunset bar. As they provides complimentary bicycles, you can ride to Turtle Village and Mai Khao Plaza (less than 10 minutes cycle) which offers F&B alternatives and supply of groceries, if required. There is a complex which houses a Family Mart. Haven't been there, but it's just another 5 mins down the road from Mai Khao Plaza. All in all, we had a great stay at Sala Phuket Resort and Spa. 1 day is definitely not enough! Will be back again....

Hands down, one of the best villas I've stayed at! I enjoy being away from the busier beaches. Mai Khao is quiet. I like that if we walk down a little further, we see more people from the nearby Marriot. So we had the best of both worlds. The pool is fantastic, the team is very attentive and helpful. We enjoyed our breakfast and dinner at the main restaurant, the treetop bar, and the pool bar! We also had a treat with a film screening of Skyfall. What I enjoyed most is the halal seaside food stalls right next to the villa. They provide delicious and affordable meals. I want to go back!!!

Phuket Mai Khao is best place for relaxing and family entertainment. Marriott Mai Khao is your destination, it is family friendly and even for younger kids. If you decide to stay at hotel you will not be bored. It has lots of facilities for kids. We tried dining in and it was good. Also round the corner (5 minutes walk), there is Turtle Village which contains some good restaurants including The Coffee Club coffee shop. If you would like to go for Excursions (I.e. James Bond island) I recommend a travel shop in turtle Village which is better priced than booking in the hotel. Booking through the hotel is more expensive even taxi from and to Airport. The travel shop is in the second floor.

Our vacation was a two part-the first was our initial stay where my wife arrived by herself with our two children via rental car from Andamann Car Rentals. My wife paid ~$119 USD for garden room and got a complimentary upgrade on top of that. Children loved the rooms and complimentary breakfast which they stated was good enough. Plenty of selection for the discerning eater and plenty of activities at the kids center for 3 and 6 yrs old kids. We have stayed numerous times mostly in the vacation club side. This was our first time on JW side of hotel. We couldn't complain as the quality of the JW is matchless. The second half of trip we stayed 2 weeks on the Marriott Phuket Beach club side (rm 3343) of Marriott at Mai Khao beach. Its the standard two bedroom villa which holds 6 adults. We love the old thai style architecture compared to the Marriott Mai Khao beach side which is more modern. Hotel is starting to show its age but nevertheless it was another stay for the record books. We used the kids center a lot this time as we had two kids 3 and 6 with us. Lots of different activities for them to do. In addition, ate a number of times at Turtle village (Swensen ice cream, Thai Express and Coffee club). JW/Phuket beach club have a shuttle that goes between turtle and resort every 15 minutes. There was a bunch of street vendors outside of turtle to buy food like deep fried bananas, coffee, etc. As far as service at the Marriott it was excellent. We had an issue when a vendor for our boat trip tried to deliver our trip video to the wrong room. The Marriott sent a representative to our room to help retrieve our video from the other room which was a nice gesture. We used the concierge to book a trip to James Bond island, etc and it was wonderful. I can't say enough about the JW here as the management and experience was memorable.

We like the trendy and modern design of this hotel. It is certainly not a boutique hotel but it is trying to give this impression to guests. If you are looking for a new hotel in Mai Khao, this is a good choice. However the location of this hotel is very far from Patong Beach (one hour by car). Therefore travelling to and from the beach could be expensive!

Our stay was simply out of the world.. It exceeded our expectations.The kids really had great time at the Kids Club. Thanks to the team of Mai Khao.Keep up the good work.You are simply the best.

I spent 4 nights here with my parents, to join a wedding nearby. we got allocated two connecting rooms. It surprises me how beautiful it is by the beach. Given the amount I paid, I must say I am really impressed. Rooms are big, standard setting. However I dont think it is a put off to come to thailand to watch TV. I love how close it is by the sea and there are many local eateries around. I love it. I would say it is ideal for relaxation, spending time in the beach, and not much entertainment around. Good to join some one day tour as well. Not a lot of staff can understand English but they do have a few who can. Only drawback is the location. Only taxi is available and it is expensive. Who cares if you come to Mai Khao, I bet you like to relax and unwind. Highly recommend it is similar to Holiday Inn but just 1/3 of the price.

Our first family trip to Phuket and we were very impressed to say the least. We stayed in a 2 bedroom apartment. It was very spacious and had everything we needed and more. The resort and staff were excellent. Everyone was quite friendly except one dining experience in Siam Deli where the staff seemed to ignore us. The food at breakfast buffet and all the restaurants we ate at good, but not great. The hotel is located directly on the beach which was nice too. We happened to stop by the Mai Khao resort by accident. The JW and Beach Club is leaps and bounds better so I would recommend spending the extra money if you can afford it. One of the disadvantages of the resort location was most of the tours/activities are pretty far away. We usually travelled 45-60 Mins each time. So if you don’t mind that we highly recommend this resort, especially for families wanting to get away from the hustle of bustle of city life.

We stayed in Holiday Inn Resort Phuket Mai Khao Beach for 4 nights last week, and it is amazing. The hotel is located near the airport. As we took a night flight to Phuket from Hong Kong, plus I booked a minivan from the hotel to pick us up, it took only less than 30 minutes to arrive. We checked in and they drove a golf car to drop us downstair of where our room is, though it's only 200m away from the reception desk. The room is neat and clean and they have arranged a baby cot with pillow and blanket for my 1.5 year old daughter which I've requested when I booked via Agoda. They serve buffet breakfast in J's cafe which is right on the left hand side of our building. The staff there are excellent and they keep calling my children's name every morning when we walked in. My daughters (4 yrs and 1.5 yr old) enjoyed playing in their kids club so much and my older one participated in a class too. There is a counter where you can pre-book local tour or buying tickets for e.g. Phuket FantaSea. Mai Khao beach is about 300-400m away from my building and the swimming pool is right next to the beach. All 4 of us enjoyed our stay very much and highly recommend for families travelling with young kids.

Marvellous boutique hotel overlooking the very peaceful Mai Khao beach, a few minutes away from the airport (soundproofing is good, you won't be disturbed by planes during your sleep). Staff is incredible and very attentioned. The restaurant provides an excellent buffet breakfast and tasty meals 24h/24. Why I only give 4 stars to facilities - Hotel looks quite new but some finishes are degrading real fast (paint in the bathroom and exterior roughcast), they need to be taken care of. Pool could be cleaned a little better too, there is algae growing at some spots. Excellent wifi (measured around 40mb down, 10mbps up). I even managed to get wifi reception on the beach! Will definitely come again.

We had a lovely room with a pool and were located as requested in the room next to our friend's. We had a lovely time. There is basically one restaurant on the property and a nice pool, but other options nearby. We loved the beach, but it is a 5-10min walk. The staff was very accommodating and helped us book taxis and call other places for reservations on our behalf. Fantastic hospitality!

Fabulous. Rooms were clean, comfortable. Bathroom clean and decent. Has kettle, free wifi, porch, AC (though I prefer to open windows if mosquito nets were available - didn't bring my own). This property is just a few minutes walking to the beach, the property on the beach belongs to the same family, which is where the restaurant is located (decently priced and cooked food with vegan request tailored to). There's a nice garden/green area between restaurant and beach with hammocks to laze about (highly recommended). Very friendly and hospitable staff and owner in a not too crowded spot in phuket. The beach is miles long and this hotel is nestled in between holiday inn and dwari, so if you like fine dining or other more luxurious services (eg spa/massage) those are also close by. I stayed in mai khao as it was close to the airport (but far away enough not to hear the planes) and it was north that was convenient for onwards traveling to khao lak for diving in similans and to suratthani to catch the train. Very nice secluded part of phuket away from the crowds and shops/bars. Definitely will stay here again if I return. Dao the owner was so kind to give me a free lift to the phuket bridge to catch a bus to suratthani and helped make all the phone calls to arrange the bus pick up. Deeply grateful for her going the extra mile and for sorting everything out for me. Do come and stay here to support this family owned property (or next door in her father's hotel)!

My friends were getting married on Mai Khao, and I booked the guesthouse because it was a convenient place to crash after the event. All in all, it's a cheap, clean and comfortable place for those who want a jumping off point to explore Phuket. Best if you have your own transport. Pros: Very close to the airport; a short walk to what is a gorgeous and sparsely populated beach; big beds, new air conditioners and cute outdoor private showers; rustic local vibe; free use of (aging) bicycles to ride along the beach road, to the convenience store, to nearby local restaurants; friendly owners Cons: Basic button doorknob lock separates you from the road, so not great for those who are anxious about security (that said, it's a very quiet, local area and I felt safe); owners have limited English but will gladly make you a basic egg-and-toast breakfast; beach has a couple massage and juice shops, but not much else.

If you have a motorbike this place is great. Traditional teak wood rooms upstairs. Large living area and kitchen downstairs. Definitely need transport if staying here. It's in the north of the island, so good for exploring the Nai Yang, Mai Khao and Phang Nga. Only minus here is a it's a little noisy due to the main road.

Had a very relaxed time at this place. The owner and staff are very friendly. Great food. The things in the room and toilet are quite aging but I guess it adds to the rustic charm of the place. It is so far from everything - this is both good and bad but I like the good parts of it more than the bad bothers me. Of all the other properties, I think this is the one with the easiest, closest access to the very long Mai Khao beach. I love Mai Khao beach. I have a guess they regulate it - no buildings or set ups ON the beach. And lights off around 10PM+! It's perfect for just enjoying the darkness and the crash of the waves at night.

A nicely presented, new, hotel. It’s in a very tranquil setting on Mai Khao beach. Although very near the airport runway, we were not disturbed at all bytge aircraft. In fact it was good to go and look at them from the beach. The main attraction of this hotel is a very large pool area behind the whole length of the hotel. Great for families. The negatives for us where that at the moment it seems the hotel is geared for Chinese tour groups. The two ladies that checked us in were very nice, however the staff in general didn’t seem very friendly or welcoming.

I first arrived at the location late at night due to terrible flight delays. The hotel is 20mins from the airport, however, restaurants in Mai Khao closes around 9-10pm. Staff was very friendly. There is a 3% additional charge for using credit card. Bungalow was very clean, facilities are accurate as description. Recommends this for family vacations. Not really for night life searching. Price-wise, should reasonable. No complaints from me 👌.

It was a little bit difficult to find the place at the beginning as they don't have any sign board written in english but then we found it somehow. you need to tell the driver the address n say the Pharmacy. They were really welcoming and friendly, Helpful, Kind and well behaved. i stayed 3 nights there. The breakfast wasn't included but every morning they gave me a complementary breakfast. It was really really good. As i was looking for a scooter to hire, the owner was kind to gave me his own scooter to drive. it was really really a good, cozy and homely staying in there. I'll recommend people to stay there if they want to stay near the airport. Beach is half an hour ride with a taxi from there. town is an hour from the place. But the hotel served my purpose of staying there near the JW Marriott resort & Spa. They will call for a taxi if you need it. I had a Happy Stay.

I can't say enough good things about my stay at the Phuket Campground. The host/owners were incredibly friendly,and helpful. They obviously love showing off the food, and the beauty of Phuket. From the moment they greeted us at the airport until we left seven days later we were treated like family. They found us a great rental car for several days and actually saw that we were not charged for the day we didn't drive because went on a boat tour of Phi-Phi island. The cottages were designed and built by the host are modern,comfortable and have all the ameneties of a first rate hotel. Free wifi,AC,satellite TV. Short drive to Sirikit NAtional Park and a beautiful beach. The host gave us a personalized tour of Phuket Town on our first day, which included a visit to a century old noodle shop for lunch. It was terribly hard to leave, but we did so knowing we'd made some new life long friends of host. They say on thier web page that they treat guest like family and they mean it. My partner and I are scheming to visit again next year. Six American girls who had been to Thailand before, regreted they could only stay one night on route to Bangkok, because the food was so good. This was a first time to Thailand and the highlights were our visit to Chiang Mai and our stay at Phuket Campground. Can't say enough about the place.

cheap, clean bungalow with fridge, 30 steps away from gorgeous secluded beach. perfect place to stay if you have an early or late flight from phuket, or for any reason really. highly recommended

Clean new bungalows on the main street of Mai Khao. You need to want to stay in Mai Khao, of course: it's a quiet place north of the airport, pretty far for the action down South. We were fine with that, we rented a scooter (the big road is dangerous though, be careful), explored the island and spent some quiet time around our place as well. If you choose to stay at Mai Khao and you don't want to spend hundreds of dollars per night to stay at a big resort, this place is a sound choice. It's owned by a family that is very nice and will really try to help you. They even gave us a lift to the airport at the end of our trip! Just know though that the "kitchen" isn't a real cooking kitchen (no stove or oven). But the whole bungalow is big, has a couch, a TV, a refrigerator. Plenty of restaurants around, try Baan Ama, our favorite!
