This is an amazing backpacker-esque ryokan right near the Yu road. The owner is super sweet, and so helpful.

Very ran down but location fantastic — would consider if no other options”

Location very central and hard to beat, super easy access to bars, restaurants, onsen, and “Yu road” that takes you to Hikage area. I left my skis in Nagasaka and walked to/from Nagasaka, that was also manageable despite heavy snow. Place is very ran down and basic even for these family-inn types, was like a reluctant stay at country side grandma’s. Very nice lady but just not comfortable. The room was 5000yen less than all other options and I just needed a room for a night; for that kind of significant difference I might consider staying here again.

Traditional Japanese House”

very old and traditional japanese family house own by a very old grandmother, i love the table with warmer in room, the room big enough and comfortable to sleep. the owner very nice but she need to handle too many things, so didn't clean the house very much. the shower and onsen room not bad have very hot water for bath. the location is just next to Yu-Road to snow place. the price is cheaper than other guest house, can join if you like the old japanese style experience.
