Modern and very clean hotel”

Friendly and helpful staff, with good English

the nam mon the boutique hotel, can tho, vietnam is very new and clean. it is ideally suited for the traveler or visitor who wants to experience "living" with the vietnamese. it is not in the popular tourist heart of can tho, but even a taxi ride into the centre of town will only cost around the $3 mark. the hotel is on the main road leading from the can tho bridge into the city. there are some new and easily accessible coffee shops across the road, and some local street eating places close by.

Nice hotel with great staff”

Rooms and staff

This is great value for money. The rooms are really nice and comfortable. The place is just outside the city but with the free bikes this is no problem at all. It is only about 10 minutes of easy biking. The staff was very helpful to help us with two almost new 135cc motorbikes and helmets for a 3 day trip through the Mekong Delta. The bikes were delivered at the hotel and ready to use in de early morning (200.000 Dong per bike per 24 hours). One passport was kept at the hotel as a guarantee for the bikes. Therefore therefore they made nice photocopies of both passports to use at the other hotels on the trip. You can buy a detailed route map in the bookshop in Can Tho. Absolutely great trip. First night a hotel in Tra Vinh and second night hotel in Ben Tre (Viet Uc Hotel) and back to this hotel again. The hotel is very close located to the bus station.

Free City Tour

We arrived and found our room to be unsuitable, so they moved us across the road to the new Nam Mon 2 no problems. This room was nice and quiet. As we booked the deluxe room we had a free city tour included which was awesome. We each had our own motor, and the guides spoke excellent English. The breakfast was nice every day and the place was very clean.

its worth the distance!”

superb floating market/mekong tour, free bicycles, free city tour, good restaurants around

we stayed 3 days: 1st day we walked to the city centre = about 30 mins, but you can drink some good cheap vietnamese coffee or have a good meal on the way. besides the vietnamese smile at you and welcome you for being not only in the tourist hotspots. 2nd day we went out at 5 am for the floating markets tour, organized by the nam mon hotel. our guide was nguyen ngoc quyen, a tourism-student, and she showed us all the right spots and gave us during our 6h trip a good cultural exchange (german-vietnamese). trip for 30 $/person includes private boat trip to cai rang floating market, phay dien floating market, rice noodle factory, free fruits + breakfast, drinks and visit to a fruit growing countryside. it was the best trip during our whole 4 week stay. in the afternoon we used the free bicycles to get to the city centre and it was no problem at all being in this massive vietnamese traffic. bikes are in good condition as well. 3rd day we made a free city tour on the back of student's motorbike called "cultural exchange": you pay for their dinner and give a tip at the end, but the rest is free. it was a good thing to do, because you get in touch with the vietnamese and see the city's sights (which are not much). all in all, the hotel offered very good tours. rooms were setup very beautiful. only our bathroom stank a little, but we only slept in the hotel and did spend most of the time outside, so we did not care at all. it would have been possible to change our room, because other rooms were not smelling, but as i said, we did not care that much. also good: free coloured city map

Nice rooms, excellent tours”

Clean rooms, good shower, excellent tours, good value

We found the room to be clean and in good condition, especially when compared to other places we have stayed in this price range. The bathroom was particularly nice with a proper enclosed shower which is often not a feature... The best thing about this place though is the staff and the tours that they offer. We arrived quite late at night but were still able to arrange a private market tour for the next morning. We paid for three people which we found to be great value. Our guide was Hieu and he was an excellent guide and a lovely person to talk to about all aspects of life in Vietnam. We saw other tour groups of 15 - 20 people and they clearly were not enjoying themselves as much as we were!!! We decided to stay and extra night and were able to take advantage of the free city tour that this hotel is offering its guests. The tour is a cultural exchange between the guests and a group of english language students who take the guests around the city on the backof their bikes. It was an evening tour which was great as we got to see another side of the city. We had dinner with the students and payed for their meals and gave them a tip but it really was great value and excellent to get to know some more locals! All round I would recommend this hotel to anyone who plans to visit Can Tho, particularly if you are interested in the floating markets... One last tip, it is cheaper to book this hotel through agoda rather than through the hotel itself... we discovered this when we wanted to extend our stay by one night, the second night was going to be an additional $6 so we simply booked another night on agoda and it was no problem...

Best bang for your buck”

Staff very accommodating, helpful and understanding

I read all other reviews of the hotel and everything was exactly as expected. We rented 3 regular suites, and 2 junior sweets in total. Some rooms had an odor, and AC wasn't as powerful as other rooms. We were given options to switch rooms if we weren't satisfied so they did their best to accommodate everyone's needs. The staff were very friendly, answered all of our questions, and fulfilled all of our requests. Excellent communicators for those who tourists. For a rated 2 star hotel you get tremendous value for what you pay for. I would recommend this hotel to anyone that is looking for a hotel in Can Tho, especially for those travelling on a budget.

Large room, friendly staff, near the river

It was pretty good. The owner is friendly and he gave some tips on how to get around Can Tho. We also got a room upgrade. Their room is spacious and has a bathtub. If you book their hotel, book their floating market tour. Must be the best tour I experienced in Vietnam. It was so personal and authentic, I'd recommend this to friends who would like to visit Can Tho.

value, room quality and nice staff

We were pleasantly surprised at the quality of our rooms. Tastefully decorated and comfortable, good bathroom and comfy bed. Staff were very helpful and can arrange tours with ECO Tours - Can Tho (facebook or google it!). ECO is run by university students who are the guides. We enjoyed the 'food on foot' tour and the 7 hour Mekong Delta Tour - both private tours were excellent and value for money. Cannot recommend them more highly

Lacking the basics but good service”

Helpful staff and great floating market tour

pros: 1) good service: the staff were very kind and helpful, offering suggestions on things to do and restaurants to try. 2) the floating market tour - nam mon's tour was much better than the ones on offer in can tho town. you were in your own small boat and saw a lot more than the larger tourist boats. cons: 1) the walls are paper thin. i could have had a conversation through the walls with my neighbours. i mentioned this to the owner when he asked for feedback but he claimed it was because the vietnamese were loud. not so kind to his own countrymen. 2) everytime a door was shut or a large van drove by, my bed would shake. frankly the building doesn't seem structurally sound. 3) no maps of the town available - apparently they were on order. 4) location is a bit far out of town - about 15 minutes by bike - and there isn't a lot nearby so evening options are limited. 5) no food at the hotel cafe, although there is a great restaurant across the street. overall, it was fine for $ a night. but it seems to me that nam mon is aiming for style over getting the basics right. and for $ a night, all anyone wants is the basics done well.

Bryan the owner is from Singapore so high standards throughout. Good restaurant across the street. Room very big with good air-con and TV. Good value, free bike loan, fast check in and out

The price couldn't be beat. It was worth it. I stayed in the deluxe room, but I peeked into the standard room, and it looked the same, only smaller. I think I would have been happy with the standard and pay a few dollars less for it. I noticed other reviewers commented on the finishes of the hotel. I also noticed irregularities like closet doors not aligned, and the bathroom door not shutting properly. But considering I paid less , it can be easily overlooked.

Lovely hotel and service with a smile”

breakfast, coffee

I was forwarded this by someone who knew I was interested in the environment, but I have to say they messed up. I’m sorry, but your justification for this article is shaky at best. No matter how beautiful they are they’re just hotel rooms, many of which are also environmentally unfriendly. You’re encouraging air travel and all the waste and emissions that entails to go visit wasteful hotels. This is a double whammy of harmful pollution and it’s being promoted on a so called “environmental site”. It’s a good thing you admit you don’t take yourself too seriously, because I certainly can’t take you seriously after this. Any real environmental site, one that valued integrity over shock value or traffic or whatever you’re going for, would not publish this. You need to either rethink what you publish or stop billing yourself as an environmental site.
