Nice and spacious room”
It was a nice, clean and spacious room equipped with a double bed and a single bed. Room was clean and had hot water all the time. Walking distance from nice roof top cafes and bars. Value for money !!!

Came late one day due to flight delay. The staff compensate it by allowing me to check out at 4 pm free of charge although is totally not their fault. Appreciated!

Great value in good location”
Pros, close to harbour and restaurants. Cheap rate we only paid 11aud for triple room. TV and fridge provided in Room and booking for all trips available in lobby. Girl at desk was really helpful. Room was huge and comfortable, arguably beds are hard but depends in what you like. Cons, owner could learn to smile a little, it's cursory as you know that if people stay to at least show some interest in them. Having loud conversations right next to you on phone while you are trying to have a nice breakfast does not make for great morning start. Construction works were in full swing next door during stay In Dec and still going with vibration drills etc at 6pm, this though can happen anywhere. All in all good value for what you get.

We stayed on Cat Ba Island for 8 days, and new that we were going on cruises, swimming etc. We purposely booked this hotel because of the safe in the room so we don't bring all our valuable with us. When we checked in, the safe didn't work, and was told by Tam (owner/manager??)that the previous occupant took the safe key with them. We were told that we'll be given another room with a working safe the next day. The next day I brought up the safe issue, but was told the room's not ready. I brought up the safe issue again later in the day, and still another excuse. It was obvious by the way he kept on avoiding the question that the safe would be out of action, and it was for the duration we're there. It was disappointing that Tam never once apologies for the inconvenience, or compensated us in anyway. It left us with a bitter taste, and we bought all our cruises , bus tickets, and food else where. On the positive, spacious family room, fantastic sea view, and great breakfast.

Cheap option on the island”
Good location near the entrance to town and harbour. Market at rear and they can arrange a motorbike if wanted although it's best to walk along street and choose one you like. Restaurants short walk along street. Room we had was large and had tv with 3 english movie channels, fridge and plenty of hot water. Beds were firm but thats the norm in price bracket. Girl on desk was great, but owner was sucking lemons the whole time. Brekky is very basic but again for price, can't expect much. All in all, good value for the price we paid at $11.50 Aud per night for triple.
