This is our second visit here with our dog location is opposite Sandsend beach and less than an hours walk into Whitby Accommodation modern and clean and staff very accommodating would recommend this place as you don’t have to compromise just because you want to take your fur baby

Lovely friendly staff. Lovely location close to sandsend beach and easy walk on beach to whitby. Blind broken inour room staff arranged for us to move rooms into a lovely roo in the grounds with little balcony and sitting room.

Nicely placed between Whitby and Sandsend ideal base for walking then relaxing in spa, Spa very tired looking rusty ceiling lights, many tiles loose/missing from jacuzzi, was it worth £400 for 2 nights perhaps not

Lovely hotel, the staff were very friendly, the room was very clean and modern. The leisure facilities were great. I would have loved to have stayed there in summer. The only constructive criticism I have, is I thought there should be a fridge in the room.

Stayed in July with my wife, the hotel had only just re-opened so getting used to the'new normal'. We enjoyed out short break and would definitely return.

Mixed feelings”
Small things matter. Arriving on a day where clearly staff smiling had been banned and an apparent weariness of yet more visitors did not bode well A single shower gel and a single shampoo between 2 people per day when you are paying a substantial figure felt ridiculous. Was it inconceivable that people might shower in the evening and the morning?. After 5 attempts over 3 days to arrange for increased supplies we were still given the daily allowance. The annoyance became irritating. A bizarre and inexplicable marketing theme of Yorkshire meets France pervaded the restaurant where a mundane but expensive menu failed to interest. Cartoons of frogs dancing on sticks of rhubarb, berets and flat caps, and an enforced humour may appeal to some but not for us. Enquiries as to the rationale behind the idea brought no enlightenment Probably just a mis-match of hotel choice and guest; others may find it all charming.

Do not eat at Raithwaite ”
Slow train crash food. We ate in the restaurant and in the bar. There was something wrong with all meals. Either cold and undercooked or cold and overcooked fish. Indescribable and numbingly bland ingredients. Rancid tasting duck fat. Inedible bread. Crispy Burnt black pudding. Inedible burnt aubergine skin in the soup. Uncooked Inedible baby beetroot. Please note this is not a humorous, or a financially motivated posting, The food is dire. Either its quality was not being checked at any point, they were oblivious to their mistakes, or they just couldn’t cook.

Extremely disappointed ”
Do not waste your money. Beautiful location and hotel but appallingly trained staff and some actually ignorant and rude. Dirty rooms and bedding. Others complaining around us saying exactly the same thing. Spent £1k over a weekend and given an appalling service, accommodation and food.

Beautiful relaxing stay ”
Stayed for a week and didn’t want to leave. Room was comfy and so quiet. Private and relaxing. Sadly didn’t get to use the spa or really see much of the main hotel. But the grounds and the walk to Sandsend were both great. Staff were lovely and The Keep was wonderful. Great location for York, Whitby and Robin Hoods Bay which is partly why we chose to stay there. Highly recommend.

Really enjoyed the spa. The facilities were good value for money. The room was lovely but needed to be dusted. The views and location it’s set in is stunning. The only real downside for me is that some of the staff were lovely but most looked down their nose at you if you didn’t look like the usual Clientele and it made us feel very uncomfortable
