Traveling to Indonesia? Find East Java hotels

ts had been my second stay... after trying out other hotels such as shangrila, meridien, java paragon... i have to say ts beats other for its location, amenities and bang for the buck. you can request as many water bottles you want which is also another plus point since i exercise quite regularly and am an avid tea drinker. my only small let down is their front desk staff which i think can be trained more on par with 5 star hotels such as marriott and shang-rila. perhaps 5 out of 6 them don't even greet you and if they smile it seemed pretty forced. a huge let down for someone who learns hospitality because it is the most basic fundamental learning. but then again, there rest of the plus points blew this let down off the shore. will be back for sure.

I think the hotel’s room need to redecorating. This hotel uses old decoration. I guess this hotel uses semi traditional java for every single room. Yesterday was my third experience stay on this hotel. My first was pretty well, polite staff. My second was good, not different than my first.

Pros : 1. Wide parking space 2. Great variety of menu for breakfast 3. Enough playground for kids 4. Instagrammable garden 5. Friendly employee 6. Enough room ammenities 7. Really comfortable bed and pillows 8. Great view from my hotel room Cons : 1. A little bit small room for 5 stars hotel 2. Far from any city event 3. Far from parking lot to room 4. No snacks in mini bar 5. The refrigerator is not cold 6. There is a triangle shape building really nice for photography but dangerous for kids because there is no sufficient safety railing bar 7. The garden is nice but there is alot of steps that quiet dangerous for kids or elderly (my kid falling in those steps in the head) 8. No water heating pool

Let me just say, This hotel deserve more than 5 stars review!! From the very beginning we were checked in with the guest relation (Lala) then waiting in the executive lounge and got a very warm welcome from Made (Executive Lounge Manager) and the rest of the executive lounge staff for example Indah, they were all went above and beyond their duty to showed a tremendously five stars hotel’s hospitality. Made our son’s first bday unforgetable and our stay in Indonesia very memorable. Thank you Vasa Hotel & the crews!! Keep the great work, definitely gonna recommend this hotel to the rest our acquaintance in US.

This hotel price was quite expensive for an area of East Java. But it is going to be worth it since all of the hotel facilities and staff are very pleasant. We had an amazing trip and my children loved the hotel so much especially warm water pool. Keep up your good work!

I was having a great stay here. The hotel is cheap for a 4stars hotel, staffs are very kind and friendly, and also the bedroom is large enough and have awesome view. I came to the hotel on 10 am and we didn't have another destination until 2 pm. So we only took a seat at the hotel lobby. Lucky me, on 11 am, the hotel staff opened a room for me! They said it was empty and ready to use, so we can really early checked-in and take some rest. 😍 Just one disappointment, I booked a non-smoking room in agoda. I also write on special request column for 'non smoking room' in agoda app. But they about gave me a smoking room. Thought we should talk personally to the hotel staff, I request again for a non-smoking room, and the staff gave me a non-smoking room. However, we still got a non-smoking room with the smell of cigarettes. I am pregnant and I avoid strange smells for my baby's health. Maybe the hotel staffs could take an extra time to clean the room, especially the cigarettes smell, so another visitors can get the right room. Little notes from me to another visitor to be : if you want to get into this hotel via taxi or online taxi, just ask them to bring you to 'Somerset hotel'. They will confused if you say Verwood hotel, for former hotel's name was Somerset, and the hotel changes its name just on July 2017. Hope it will be helpful 😍

Excellent is all areas that I would like. Room is not grandeur like a 5 star but good amenities for room and very clean with plenty of towel supplies. Entry at lobby to check-in at reception to room service to breakfast to check-out and even assistance at lobby for my own transport was excellent! Of particular interest were the service from the hotel staff; something is very good abt their training! All had that genuine greeting and smile. Staff at breakfast were attentive to needs like giving serviettes and toothpicks and saw another table where young male staff helped a mother with baby chair and an unsettling baby and he played with baby and helped mother to settle baby in! Breakfast was excellent and the eggs were done and presented very excellently! I give this 6 start! Room service food came warm (unlike many 5 star hotels) and well covered. Food was excellent although not taken directly from restaurant. Will definitely return!

Harris was the hotel my family and I chose after having a week of traveling around East Java. The location is just perfect, very quite and we think this is the best place to have a relaxing day and boosting up our kids' happiness.

My first impression about this hotel began when the security in the lobby opened our car's door and greeted my nephew who had just woken up with friendly gesture, "ah, ade masih ngantuk ya (trans: ah, little boy are you still sleepy?). The friendliness and hospitality of the staffs continued throughout our stay. They were also responsive. When I called the housekeeping to take my dirty laundry and request for the cleaned one, they responded promptly. The room was a bit small, but very clean and well-equipped. They even provided hair dryer which is rarely provided by 3-star hotels in Indonesia. I can even mention a 4-star hotel which does not provide hair dryers in their rooms. Breakfast was good. They provided my favourite illy coffee, but with additional charge, which is fine if you're willing to pay extra for a good cup of coffee in the morning. The staffs were always there to take your empty plates. My fav is the special section for Jamu (Indonesian herbal drinks). Love it!

i was checked in to a room on level 22. nice spacious room. happy with the room, shouldve requested a non smoking floor. breakfast was nice... good variety.. u get to taste east java cuisines make sure u book in advance coz this hotel is very busy. lounge area is not very classy, need to instal electricty sockets near the bed.

overall we really like this hotel, for a "zoo" hotel and not under a big hotel management, their really shocked us with almost everything... no bad small at all even they have so many animals there, and the best is about their cleanliness, superb like a pro! so it's impossible for an early check in coz they really clean up the room so perfectly, hard to find any dust even @ the balcony... staffs also nice and friendly, i was served by mr. abas (basuki) since i called many times while booking the hotel until the check in process, they really do their best 👍. cons = - i believe 90% of this hotel visitors are bringing their children/babies, it will be best if they really made the hotel become "non smoking hotel" not only inside the room because i still find some "non educated" guy smoking at the pool, lobby, corridors in front of their kids/babies - hot water at shower toilet is just litle warm, not hot at all conclusion : it is a great hotel for a short stay, awesome

Excellent location, within walking distance to shopping mall, stores, Monkasel etc. Easy to find foods, even East Java traditional menus are available near by. Helpful staffs (we came too early but it's no problem to find us available room, the room was even upgraded). Breakfast is good and they serve many option. The hotel is getting old but it is well maintained, and also very clean. Room is spacious.

Everytime I went to hike a mountain in East Java, I ended up the nights in Tugu. Tugu is romantic place, I loved to looking around hotel and admired the paintings. The wine is chill and the pool is bright too. Every staffs is friendly. One thing if I can give suggestion : twice, my friend want to get taxi in dawn, and the hotel can't help. Maybe next time, this facility can be improved.

the hotel is located at darmo, which is a central of the surabaya city. in front of the hotel there's so many native foods of east java and we enjoy it. surrounding is crowded by night especially saturday night because the 'taman bungkul' is like a hangout and rendevous place for youngers

The Hotel Ciputra World Surabaya was above my expectation. Everything in the hotel is above average and in fact even the rest rooms as a "wow" factor. Everyone was very friendly from the honest security guards to the hotel General Manager Ms Christiane Wasfy who was herself very outstanding after meeting her personally during her rounds in the hotel. The hotel is in tip top condition with big room and very luxurious with nice bed to rest. We had a magnificent spread of local and international foods for breakfast. The hotel also have a great view of Surabaya city at the 22nd floor of their rooftop swimming pool and health spa. Ciputra World mall is one of the best malls in Surabaya with very good shop and wonderful restaurants to chose from that made me loose my diet. The only lacking is hospitality during check-in is missing and check-in can be improved and personalised like other five star status hotel because guest appreciate after their long travel to be greeted well with a welcome drink. The choice of choosing Hotel Ciputra World was the correct one for us and is on the top of the list to stay in Surabaya for the future return visit. A big thank you and best regards to all the staff's in Hotel Ciputra World for our great stay.

The best thing is the facilities which are very complete; swimming pool outdoor, indoor, sport arena (basket, badminton, futsal, volleyball), library, karaoke, jacuzzi, sauna, etc, so much worth the price, be sure you have enough time to enjoy all the facilities. The location is also great, 5 minutes walk to jatim park 1, from there you can have shuttle to other jatim park group. Everything went well on our stay, good shower, hot water, clean and comfy bed, spacey room. So much recommended for family holiday.

When you book into a Shangri la property you expect quality and this one in Surabaya lives up to the brand. I stayed for one night only and did not have enough time to experience all the hotel has to offer. It is truly a 5 star hotel with several restaurants, huge pool and large spa with sauna steam and jacuzzi. The Gym was impressive as well. The room is well appointed and comfortable. Staff was friendly and well trained. What impressed me most is the free wireless which is available all around the whole hotel and best of all not need to log on again in different places. It has a free shuttle to the mall nearby but the frequency seems a bit limited given the short distance. All in all a very good option when in Surabaya especially if you need to be west side of the city.

I think there is not much to say except that I really enjoyed my stay in this hotel. I've been to worse 5-star hotels! Nothing to complain about, the restaurant downstairs was really good, live band just nice (not too loud). Too chilly to swim when I was there so didn't try the pool but it definitely looked nice. The staff is really nice as they went out of their way to try to please us. Beware of taxis in Malang: they're impossible to find! Anyway, great hotel. Would love to come back.

I definitely will come back to this hotel when i go back to Batu. And will spend a whole day just to relax. The best place to relax and refresh your mind.

This is a very old Hotel but the staffs are all polite & very friendly. Chantika (The receptionist) upgraded our room when she found out we were travelling with a 5 yrs youngling and made us a member of Marriott Bonvoy so our daughter can have a free breakfast. Due to Tika initiative - making us a member of the Marriott Bonvoy - we cancelled our hotel in Jakarta and booked JW Marriott instead. Unfortunately the service in Marriott Jakarta wasn't as great as in Sheraton. Muhlis the bell boy, he was very friendly and caring to youngling. Our daughter was impressed and asked us " why do people in Surabaya so polite & friendly?" - this is our first trip to Surabaya and Sheraton made us comfortable during our stay. Our daugther did not want to part with the hotel. I am giving 12 stars out of 10 for Sheraton Surabaya and definately will stay in there when we visit surabaya next time. This one of the best value for money hotel I have stayed in Surabaya. The staff is so friendly, I have requested a quiet room and the hotel gave me the 9th floor and I wasn't disappointed, it was not only quiet but had a great view of the city. There was so many eating places just outside the hotel and in the evening there were rows of warungs just behind the hotel. This hotel is in between two huge shopping centre which is 10 - 15 mins of walking distance. The bed and room was clean, the bathroom was clean daily, there was hot shower 24hrs, toothbrush and 2 bottles of water was given daily. There is a kettle with tea and coffee replenish daily. A welcome drink was given when you check-in. I was impressed with the breakfast as compared to other 3 stars hotel, MaxOne serve a very god breakfast, there was fried noodles, fried rice, plain rice, vegetables meat, bread, Jam, butter(you can toast your bread), there is milk and cereal. There is porridge, pudding, fruits, coffee and tea.

The room is Classic, best facilities in the room is they have Bathtub that you hardly find in any similar hotels with same star rating. Breakfast is really delicious, room service menu available with soooo many choices of food. WiFi speed is fast, location nearby Tunjungan Plaza & Hokky Supermarket.

Hotel Aria Gajayana is ideally located in the heart of the town of Malang, East Java, Indonesia, only 5 minutes walking to shopping center, sport center, entertainment center and public services as well as a business center and leisure place. This hotel offers its customers exclusive and privacy. Hotels that have this modern building in his room deluxe and suites to deluxe rooms are a little small size plus no dining and living room, if you choose a suite that suite their own living room plus there is no dining table. Plus for breakfast menu very much! Overall this hotel recommend for tourists in the country and a foreign country! Do not forget the hotel is located center of the town and many restaurants and depots around the hotel!

Was surprised to have found such a gem in East Java. All well maintained and clean. Easy access to the Parks, need to drive thou... foods are plenty to choose from, no issues. Remember... if u look for something closest back to nature, this place has it all. Keep it up and kudos to the hospitality. Thumbs up, two that is... 👍👍

Nice room with good in room amenities. Used the washer dryer to clean clothes after climbing all week in east Java. Lots of restaurants nearby and breakfast served onsite. Basic gym facilities and pool. Staff were brilliant. Room was a bit run down and could have used a fresh coat of paint and tidy but was otherwise great for a night before heading to the airport.

A five star hotel is basically not just the number of rooms and the high end facilities provided for guests. The most important is the the personal touch provided by the amazing, friendly and helpful staffs. Not many 5 star hotels offer this and focus on making money only. What i experienced at Wyndham Surabaya was the capability and the excellent service rendered by the staffs. I would say, they went the extra mile to make my stay a pleasant one!

The best hotel I lived throughout my trip in Ind. Qualified hotel as 4-star level and close to the biggest shopping mall.

The Royal Orchids Garden Hotel is nicely located in Batu, Malang, East Java. Although this is an aging hotel, its maintenance is quite ok hence its condition is still deemed acceptable. Rooms are spacious, with beds and furnishings that are ok. So is the food. While nothing is spectacular, there's also nothing wrong. Its main attraction would be, I'd say, its pool. Its swimming pool is the best feature of this hotel. The pool is big, with a great view and surrounding air. The pool is also child-friendly. Granted, there are newer and better hotels out there in Batu. But I'd say this hotel remains a good place to consider especially if the pricing is right (as it varies from time to time).

After spending 2 nights enjoying hill-side entertainment at Batu, we spent 1 night at Malang, City. A Bali style hotel with excellent Bali hospitality. Some customers might be disappointed by the location but we love it for the various food stall during night and it has distances from main road. Pool is great, various good breakfast, and it does have spacious clean room. Stairs could be annoying for elder. Will I come again? Yes. Will I recommend it to others? Yes.

Great location just opposite Tunjungan Plaza the biggest plaza in East Java. I stayed here a couple of ninths with my two young daughters and they loved it! The pool was always quiet and the perfect dept for them 1.2m (they spent most of their time here swimming. The Buffet Breakfast was excellent with great selections from traditional Indonesian to western food. The service was friendly and lovely. Room was clean, tidy and spacious enough for us. I requested a large bed but ended up getting a 2 king singles which was okay ( there is always a room for improvement) would highly recommend to friends and family. Thanks for a lovely stay.
