Family outing for weekend from our home in HCMC”
We booked almost last minute for a two night stay over the busy holiday weekend prior to April 30/May 1 and paid top rates. We were satisfied although this rate would be too high for normal stay. From the staff comments, off season rates would be about a third of the two million plus dong per night that we paid. However, for family room with three adults and three children it still represented fair value. The staff prepared a superb seafood lunch for us in the restaurant. It was excellent. We are a Vietnamese family, with one Westerner Permanent Resident (me). We drove to Vung Tau from Saigon/HCMC.

Vietnamese style hotel”
The room is quite old (it's difficult to find a CRT TV today) but clean. Staffs is helpful. The hotel is family run and friendly. The small opposite beach is not the best in Vung Tau but acceptable. Nice view and good price (except on Saturday). I will be back again for next holiday.

Good hotel with great price, could be better”
I rarely met a manager (Ms Trang) so nice and capable. The stay would have been bad without her. The hotel is right across from the beach (Bai Dua). This beach is not the best in Vung Tau, with some rocks and too small beach area (the wave could touch the road outline). But since it's so close, you can clearly see your family swimming from your room window, which is nice. Common area facilities (pool, restaurant) are poor. In-room is a mix, bad TV and AC, good bath utensils. It's close to dining areas, like Russian BBQ restaurant Rhino, or seafood ones. Hotel itself doesn't have a fix menu. But the manager and her helper would make dishes on your request, if you stay during low traffic days. And their cooking is superb, matching any 3* restaurants in Vung Tau. Of course no fancy dishes, just order the family type foods.

Great Budget Hotel”
This was a great hotel for the money I paid. It was about 5 minutes from Vung Tau port in a taxi. I it was 5 minuted to the town in a taxi and 5 minutes to the main beach area. There is a pool on the roof which is small but good and there are good views from the roof. It's about 90 minutes on the hydrofoil to Ho Chi Minh City and these leave roughly every hour or half hour during the day.

Nice, clean room. The staff was friendly. The hotel is close to the ferry which makes it easy to come and go from Vung Tau.

Recommended Stay”
Elevator , hot water , location close to big beach and attractions, security 24/7 and lock up your bike, good food restaurant 2 minute walk away, pool and chill area with beautiful sea view , toiletries , water in cold refrigerator, towels, toilet tissue(nice soft thick kind) , room service .... It was all very nice. A lady is there that can speak some English and the staff is always nice and ready to help. I am sure to stay again on my next VT visit. Additional VT info....you can rent a motorbike when you exit the ferry. A group of guys working near the ferry ticket booth ( MR. LAM company name) rent out for 150,000 VD a day. Fast , easy, simple.. I gave money for a couple days and an ID card. When I returned they gave back my card with a smile and thank you.

Something a little different.”
Great! I booked a V.I.P. room here choosing to stay away from the main area in town. The room had seperate sleeping area and lounge, toilet & shower at one end & a spa at the other. The views are memorable & the sunset spectacular. The hotel is family run and although speaking little English are friendly, helpful & try to look after you. On weekends the hotel may be busy with the influx of families from Saigon and other areas coming for the beach but weekdays for the most part it is quiet. There is a small pool and adjacent area to relax and I can say that I certainly enjoyed my stay there.

Nice view and big room, yet old”
The Hotel is fine for the cost. You get what you pay for and this 1.5 Star hotel gives you 1.5 star service. The room we stayed at were big and nice and had all you need for a beach vacation on a budget. Would I go back to the same hotel again, Yes; its fine and quiet on top which is an added benefit if you been traveling in Vietnam before. Its just opposite a beach. You do need transportation if you want to get into mid-town of Vung Tau.

Great location ”
stayed here for 3 nights but extended to 2 weeks lovely helpful manager who has just taken over all staff were helpful although some had limited english just a short 5-10 minute walk to the ferry service and some great restaurants - ocap makes great coffee we hired some push bikes to get around - great fun on the quieter side of the town lots of ships sailing up the river mouth to saigon so always something to see

hotel located nearby with the beach only 2 minutes. also nearby christy hill in 10 minuted by walk. alone the road, you can find lots of local lovers there. also nearby the boat port. clean and nice hotel.

VIP room has great views”
Hotel is not new and needs some renovation. However room is clean w staff responding to request. Small dipping pool to cool off. Watch fishermen with morning catch in front of hotel.

Location is nice but...”
I read over the comments of from other people which lead to me choosing this hotel - they were positive. However, I was very disappointed. The reception guy was asleep at the desk when I arrived at 11am. Had to kill two cockroaches and many ants, no hot water, no shower curtain, restaurant was never open. I knew I as getting a 2 star hotel but I have stayed in much better 2 star hotels before and with good service. There are other choices in Vung Tau for the same price.

Clean, quite, in font of a beach”
Nothing to complain about, the pool is small but great to chill at night, staff is really gentle, always smiling and they even assigned us an ocean front room (that was not the one we booked). Far from the mess of tourists, which is great, but it's easier to reach it with your own transportation.

Quiet hotel great sea view”
though original disappointed with the beach and location, in the end it was ok. the beach is surf up to the breakwater unless the tide is out, but there is a great, but very busy beach a twenty minute walk around the bend. the hotel is somewhat isolated, ten minute walk to restaurants, but it is quiet. the pool is very small, lthe size of a arge hot tube. the room was clean, the staff helpful, but very little english.

When we went there, the receptionist said don't receive our order but eventually get a room for 6 of us, but the room is small and the basin is stuck..>.< On the second day, one of the receptionist helped us to go ho chi minh city, so i consider the service is okay.. For budget traveller, you can try this hotel!

"WORST OF THE WORST"”
"DO NOT STAY AT THE SUN SHINE HOTEL" I told the owner we wanted the room that we saw the photo of on agoda, her reply was this is "that" room and was very rude and started insulting my girlfriend in Vietnamese. This place was was NOTHING like the photo's everything was literally falling apart and was VERY OLD and run down, no lights even, the elevator was in bad shape and was quite scary to ride in. The walls were crumbling and covered with mold,the furniture was WAY too old, the TV was 20 years old as was the aircon. if you wanted to actually see the sea you had to go out by the pool and look over the railing I told her NO we wanted what we "paid in advance for" and she showed us the VIP room and we said that would be better than the other 3 rooms she had shown us, she said ok and said we had to pay her "DOUBLE" what we had already paid. we took the nasty old room she said was the one we booked. We stayed only one night because it was TERRIBLE, the dogs barked ALL day starting at 5am then they started cleaning the pool at 6am (which was right outside our BROKEN window and was very loud, then at 7am they were working on the pool deck, then at 8am two maids were yelling to eachother, 1 at one end of the hall way and the other at the oposite end of the hall way, when my girlfriend opened the door and asked them nicely to be quiet they said they were working, we packed our things and checked out at 10am. Save yourself the agony DO NOT STAY AT THE SUN SHINE HOTEL THIS PLACE WAS THE WORST HOTEL EXPERIENCE WE HAVE EVER HAD. I would NOT recomend this place to my worst enemy, BEWARE, DO NOT have your vacation ruined like we did it truelly was the "WORST OF THE WORST" experiences we have EVER had,shame on you for wasting our TIME and MONEY,and ruining our hard earned vacation and costing us double the money when we had to go find another hotel.
