The Bruce was great value and very enjoyable. The room was quiet and the hotel staff were terrific. From the front desk, the cleaning staff and especially the bar/restaurant team, everyone was friendly and helpful. The English breakfast buffet was well maintained and tasty. Dinner was reasonably and excellent. Underground parking was a nice bonus. See you again....

We expected to be in Glasgow”
We expected to be in Glasgow, but actually the Bruce hotel is located in East Kilbride in the suburbs of Glasgow at more than 20 minutes by car of the center. Our perception was caused by both the agola site situating it in Glasgow and the associated map showing center of city, but it was actuallly the center of East Kilbride. For the accomodation itself, the hotel was comfortable and clean. Only the parking could have been problematic: its size is limited and the hotel has an agreement to use a neighbour company parking during the night. However, when using the latter, the car has to leave the parking place for 8.00 am.

I got a large bed room at a reasonable price and was pleasantly surprised as it was superior to what I expected for what I paid. Arrived around 8ish, and although the dining room was very busy with a large party of hockey players, the owner managed to arrange a table for us to have dinner. Dinner was very good, good food and good sized portions, wine very reasonably priced too - what's not to like? I stayed to attend a wedding at another hotel nearby. I'm now seriously considering visiting one of their themed nights with my family for dinner and a pleasant night away.

Friendly, helpful staff. Hotel is a half hour train ride from Glasgow Central so not central for Glasgow, but not far from East Kilbride train station.

We stayed here with our dog while visiting Glasgow. It is about 20-25 minutes away from the city so we had to drive. There is a small parking area under the building and it is free. They have a continental breakfast that is included in the room rate and the wifi is free. The outside of the building is a little off putting if it is your first time going there, but once you get inside its actually pretty nice. We weren't able to control the temperature in our room so it was very hot, we had to keep the window open the whole time.

The hotel is "tired" and rundown and could do with a major makeover. The staff were super, friendly and helpful. The cost was very reasonable and the bed was clean and that was the main thing for us.

Comfortable room, but overall hotel dated”
Very good price and I did have a bright comfortable room, but some of the hotel areas are very dated. Great location bang in the centre of town shopping etc.

Decor around check in, lifts and stairwells is a bit dated with wooden cladding , that said, year on year improvements on the floors to the rooms are evident.also rooms are being modernised and rooms are comfortable, updated and very clean....the breakfast could be abit fresher... Eggs abit dryer out as example but otherwise not bad for money.Central locale for ek shops and parking is perfect! Staff sparce in attendance but friendly and helpful.

Dated and basic”
This hotel is dated and run down. In our room the tv did not work, the window didn't close properly and one of the bedside lamps did not work. It wasn't very clean with the last guests hair still in the bathroom and brown gunk in a niche in the shower. The bath mat is paper. The inclusive breakfast was good and the staff were very friendly and helpul.

Although very cheap in comparison with other establishments, the hotel was clean, had the same facilities (in fact more than some, with an iron, hairdryer and trouser press) as others and a very comfortable bed.

The hotel is in need of total refurbishment. I have stayed there several times over the last year. Lighting in the car park has been faulty all of that time. I am an electrician, and have reported this to staff. A repair cost of approx £1.00 required to fix fluorescent light. Still not done.

No parking spaces left. Shower didn't work in room.”
The room was clean and there was plenty of tea and coffee and the kettle worked fine. The hotel looks nothing like the photos online and is very depressing in terms of decor. Wouldn't have booked it if I knew there would be a problem with parking and obviously the shower not working didn't help.

Noise,,, noise,,, noise ”
We were in room 317 and i can only assume that the room is above the air vents in the kitchen,,, the noise from it kicks in about 7am and continues all day,,, it's like a jet plane engine,,, the room is a bit small and very dated,,, no hot water from the shower and the shower cubicle was disgusting,,, there was a 18th birthday party that evening and i think more heads than were booked in staying overnight,,, they were running along the corridor,,, banging doors,,, shouting and swearing,,, breaking glass etc: this went on throughout the night and the police were called in to them at breakfast time,,,, why the hotel allows groups of teenagers to stay is beyond me,,, they must do it simply for the money,,, i would never stay there again and i would never recommend it even to my worst enemy!!!

I’ve booked Bruce hotel many times for the last 2 Year’s.. after me showing the receptionist my paid booking confirmation and pdf voucher!! She still wasn’t sure if my booking was paid plus wasn’t sure if breakfast was included!! Which stated clearly it was.... mmmh which my friend had to show her again second day.... has if it was her choice if we had a stay or are we meant to get the breakfast.... really annoying it was. Hotel bar was closed all the time we stayed there from 30th dec until 2nd jan wasnt even open for the bells or new years day .which i think is a bit ridiculious

Awful stay”
Staff listened to my complaint but minute my back was turned they started laughing as if not serious. I also sent an email and never got a reply. When staying here i could not get into the hotel at night as there was a fight that broke out with a bunch of teenagers. It was security in the town centre that told me to stay away till it stopped. In hotel when i managed to get in they sold drink to anyone even the public that didn't stay in hotel and then another fight erupted. Awful stay only good thing was location.
