A wonderful experience. ”

From the moment we arrived, my partner and I were greeted with a lovely welcome and were promptly checked-in and shown to our room. Upon arrival we were reminded that their spa would be closed during a portion of our stay due to essential maintenance, which we were aware of and completely understand. However, we were able to enjoy our first night in the spa, which was glorious. The atmosphere was very relaxing and there were a variety of facilities to make use of, including the steam room, thermal baths and a sauna. We were even offered complimentary hot chocolate! If this wasn't enough, we were also offered two complimentary vouchers to use at the Thermae Spa, which was literally the building next to the Gainsborough - perfect! Our room was beautiful as was the entire spa hotel. Staff were extremely professional and accommodating, getting to know us on a personal level and providing brilliant knowledge and recommendations of how to enjoy our time here in Bath. Overall, we cannot recommend this place enough. From the quality of the our room, to the exceptional service provided from all of the staff, we are extremely grateful for offering us a perfect experience. Thank you.

What a great hotel. The decor, cleanliness, the staff and spa were all absolutely fantastic. The staff were actually amazing and gave the you the biggest of welcome each time you entered this beautiful hotel... you could not wish for a better location it's truly central Bath. The staff are superior…. they will go out of their way to help. The dining room staff were amazing as were the day and evening concierges. Reception staff also superior. Location cannot be beat. Bath spa break”

We stayed here for a weekend and had a lovely time. The spa baths in the hotel are immaculate and there's a great little bar with nice cocktails. The location is perfect for the Thermae Baths over the road. Looking forward to visiting again.

Lovely atmosphere, friendly staff, beautiful rooms. Came down to celebrate my partners birthday and he loved it. If you like spas this would be one place to come. They are also opposite the Thermae bath spa. Everything is so close-by and would recommend walking around Bath

Fantastic stay for my 30th. Complimentary room upgrade, champagne and mini fridge for the occasion. Staff were extremely attentive, special mention to Matthew. Could not get enough of the natural thermal spa which is included in the price. The complimentary Hot chocolate is on another planet. Would not hesitate to return.

Felt comfortable as a solo traveller, any solo traveller knows the politeness of staff can make or break the trip when they are your main interaction for the day. I found the staff to be polite, helpful and chatty, particularly the lady who checked me in. Lovely facilities. Restaurant was closed while I was there so only downside was I couldn't order room service, but everything else was great. The spiced hot chocolate in the Spa area is so good!

Top notch hotel”

Very good central location, just a couple of minutes from Avon Street car park (beware, hopeless payment system), warm friendly staff, even warmer spa (brilliant), immaculately clean everywhere, but the dining room decor is not very inviting. Instead for dinner we recommend Sotto Sotton (very good Italian in a cellar) and for lunch, the Pump Room, lovely period setting.

Great place to stay”

Had a fantastic couple of nights at the Gainsborough. It is in a great location for central Bath. I would highly recommend going into the spa. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Would definitely stay again. My only complaint would be the cost of breakfast at £30 per person. Would have to rest it as one of the nicest hotels we have stayed in.
