I stay at the Merchant City Inn for one night. The hotel is well situated in heart of Glasgow. The reception staff was very helpful. I needed to have access to wifi and not always availble on the top flooe. I was moved to the ground floor in a nice doulbe room with all confort and acces to wifi. Would definitely recommned this hotel.

Lovely hostel in the middle of Glasgow City Centre”
stayed for 1 night as a stopover in glasgow to other parts of scotland. the inn/hostel was great value - superb location (right across george sq. from the queens st. train station), amazing staff (i had to leave at 5am and the staff made sure i had some breakfast (which came with the room and usually starts at 7am) before i left!), and clean rooms. the rooms are a little old, but sheets and towels were clean. comes with tv, complimentary coffee and tea, kettle, and soap.

a very good hotel!”
This hotel is very good, near to shopping and all amenities. The staff are very friendly and go out of their way to make your stay a pleasant one. Although we were only there for one night, the stay was very satisfactory and when next in Glasgow, will book again.

Very romantic feeling. perfect location for the young at heart/”
We loved it, Not for those who want all the frills. You have to be fit to carry your bags up the spiral staircase and not mind some happy noises from the nightclub nearby but its a perfect location to walk around the old city. We walked from the bus depot about 15 minutes away . All the staff were very friendly and helpfull,The room is small but very clean. Bathroom had nice hot shower. The tv could be moved more center on the wall as the sound is muffeld if you open the large window pane to allow a beeze. We would return again .

A Good hotel in a handy location”
Have stayed here quite a few times before, i have always found the hotel to be clean and tidy and the staff freindly. rooms can sometimes be of an odd shape or layout but thats not surprising as its a old building. having said that i should also say that i have never found the rooms to to small, they tend to be of a good size. The breakfast here is one of the best that you will get in Glasgow and its seved up by a freindly cheif. The only negative points i can say about the hotel is that the spiaral stairs are not the best if you have a lot of luggage and also as its a popular hotel you need to book well in advance to get a friday and sdaturday together.

Ideally situated”
This hotel is situated in a street behind Ingram Street and The Corinthian Club. Ideally situated if you require to be in the city centre. The hotel is in an old building with character. Reception staff were always friendly and polite. My room was clean, very warm and had TV, hair dryer and tea/coffee making facilities - all that I needed. The only fault with the room was that the mattress should have been replaced as it was uncomfortable having been well used. I brought this to the attention of Reception. Breakfast was adequate, Continental style included with the room rate. Hot cooked breakfast was available for an extra £3 if wished. There were no other facilities that I could see but as I was attending a course and out all day I didn’t need anything else. I was woken one weekend night with ‘the party’ beginning at 0345....other guests singing, shouting and speaking loudly, ... they had no consideration for those already sleeping. It can happen in any hotel.

Merchant Lodge Hotel in Glasgow”
I was staying at the City Inn near SECC but then moved here. I got a special rate for a single room, but when I got there and because of some misunderstand I was upgraded to a double room. The location of the hotel is excellent!! The room is a good medium size but there's too many furniture in the room! Will be back!!

Great location and warm hotel on cold day”
The hotel is quaint and relatively near the city centre. The manager on reception is very welcoming and informative on what to see and how to get there. The room was ok on the small side but I was on my own so no problem. It was clean and everything functioned as it should. For the evening there were clubs/bars and pubs. Breakfast was acceptable and the chef, cooked breakfast was an additional acceptable for what it was.

Location convenient for Stations but SO noisy”
Having spent several days in a particularly peaceful and remote part of the Isle of Mull, central Glasgow on a Saturday was a HUGE contrast. Chose this hotel as it looked like a convenient point to break my journey back home to Essex. Not the Hotel's fault I know but the noise of nearby clubbers, revellers and 'thumpy' music started early evening and was still going on at 3.00am, when I finally managed to drop off to sleep. There was also quite a bit of noise inside hotel as people returned to their rooms. Felt exhausted next day during my ten hour journey home. Room not bad size for single traveller. Pillows were hard, sink tiny and tea and coffee making facilities were very mean considering price I paid - e.g. only a single serving of instant coffee and no biscuits. Be aware that access to the rooms is via a steep, spiral staircase and there is NO lift. I was lucky enough to be on the first floor so did not have too far to struggle with my heavy luggage. I saw others struggling up towards the fourth floor. On plus side, chap in reception was friendly, helpful and welcoming as was the smartly dressed/very professional staff member overseeing the breakfast room and continental breakfast itself was plentiful. Didn't bother to pay £3 extra for a cooked breakfast.

Did the trick for me.”
Great location if you are around Merchant City. Definitely no frills and extra for cooked breakfast, but if all you need is a bed in a central location, perfect. Staff pleasant too.

5 night stay”
The hotel was in good location about 5 minutes walk to George Square. Was attending nearby college for 5 days so the reasonable price suited my needs. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful and attended to small issue with shower head promptly. Have stayed here before and would definitely stay again in the future

A basic hotel offering basic, but clean, facilitie”
This is a very conveniently sited, city centre hotel offering very basic facilities for a very low price. Clean hotel, friendly helpful staff but don't expect any luxuries as it offers a basic room with a free continental breakfast, or for £3 extra, a cooked breakfast. You get what you pay for and it's OK for an overnight stay but I wouldn't stay there for a week. Wi-fi in room not working but in reception area OK.

Great city centre location ”
Very central for the city. Great selection of bars and restaurants near. The room was comfortable for a nights stay.

Charming”
The hotel is a good choice in terms of price and location. Being an old tobacco storage, there is a certain charm to it. The old winding staircase is certainly amazing. However, there is no elevator/lift. Hence, if your room is on the higher floors, it can be very difficult for those with knee problems.

Exceptional”
Stayed for 2 nights. It was really good. The room was big and clean, but no elevator. There was even a device for drying hair and towels. The staff was really nice and helpfull. Very good location, very close to big roads and pubs for the night. 24 hours reception. But the breakfast was served very early (until 8:45) and just be carefull because you need to have with you the card that you've paid for the room. I really reccomend it!

Good”
It is a very old building without elevator, you have to carry your baggage to the rooms on upper floor via narrow and steep stairs. The room has smell and no air-con or ventilation facility. However, the hotel is right on the main street of the city center and easy to access train, subway and buses.

Central location and very friendly staff”
I was only staying for one night as I was meeting old friends. I stumbled across the hotel online and was attracted to it by its central location. My single room was well proportioned and very comfortable. The breakfast was good although I wrongly assumed that my cooked breakfast was included but I had to pay a surcharge. My room was also straight across from a very busy nightclub so luckily I had ear plugs packed with me! I would advise others to do the same!

great location, friendly staff”
A very comfortable stay. Friendly staff. Basic hotel, old furnishings and bathrooms, but comfortable, clean and quiet during the week. Across the road from a nightclub, so can be very noisy on weekends. Ask for a room away from the nightclub. The extra for a cooked breakfast is well worth it.

Above average”
The room I was allocated had no natural light, felt claustrophobic . Better use could have been made of the room space e.g. I turned the bed thro' 90 degrees to gain more floor space. The toilet area though clean and bright was cramped, the position of the toilet paper dispenser meant you had to nigh on do a 'three point turn' to use the WC. If I had known I was to have been allocated this room I would not have booked. JB, Glasgow Boy from London
