Best dive bar hostel in Asian ”
If you like street art, Dive bars, and super cheap beds you will love this place. I keep coming back every time I’m in Bangkok. It’s in a sleepy area away from the main tourist party drag but surrounded by all the best local street food you’d ever want. Always a friendly face and some good conversation over a frosty beer. Must like animals.

Very chilled out place with amazing art everywhere.”
The place has some of the coolest art I have ever seen, all the walls are covered in crazy, wild and awesome paintings, graffiti and messages from different traveller that have passed this place through the place. With very friendly staff and a couple of cool dogs, I would definitely recommend this place to proper old school backpackers who enjoy chilling with good people. Be warned though if you are a luxury kind of traveller who can't deal with a few broken bits and pieces, then you might not feel at home in this f***ing great place. Love the Overstay and would definitely send all my friends this way.

You get what you pay for”
The rooms are separated by a thin wall, so you can hear conversations in the other room. My stay was also disturbed as the couple who stayed right next to me had a big fight and I keep hearing banging on my walls. The place is also very far, which is two bus stops after the bridge crossing ChaoPhraya river. The paints/art in the wall maybe too creepy for me, but the best thing about this place is the staff. They are very friendly and accommodating. Cheers to Ron! I'd say it's a cheap accommodation, don't expect much. Remember you get what you pay for.

Good”
It's adorable there're dogs in the place and cats. No hot shower but decent for the price. Is a place to stay for a night to get the gist of what food you can find opposite the place at night. And very interesting artsy view of the wall every floor.

More a squat than a hostel, but with a nice bar at the ground floor”
In a scale from 1 (a squat) through 5 (a hostel) to 10 (a hotel) this would get at best a 2.5 and only because the electricity works (but half of the lights not) and there is water in the toilet. The cleanliness is like in a squat. The door to the room was half broken, like it was kicked out of the frame and never fixed. Instead there was an incorrectly added additional metal element on which you could place a lock, but even with the lock on you could remove it with a screwdriver (the screw heads were easily accessible). There were very many ants in the room, a bad smell and it was very noisy from the road. We slept one night in a different room (a bit better and without ants) and cancelled our stay, because we were not comfortable leaving expensive equipment in the room. But it's true there is a lot of graffiti and other art everywhere, and the bar/reception downstairs looks very cool. We did not get our money back for the remaining days.

Spartan place, okay for one night”
The atmosphere is very alternative, with graffiti everywhere and karaoke every night. But if you're looking for a clean and comfortable accomodation this might not be the best option. We stayed in a double room where the AC was the only upside, cause the door was flimsy and couldn't be locked safely, the mattress was thin and hard, walls were so slim that you could hear all noises from other rooms and the toilets were definitely uninviting. The location is a bit noisy since it's very close to a main road and not so many services around (restaurants and bars), but the bus stop to the city centre is close. People at the reception are nice and in general the atmosphere is vibrant but you can find cleaner and nicer accomodations for the same price.

Horribly unclean and rancid smell everywhere”
I tend to not be very picky and I don’t leave bad reviews unless I think it would help someone save their money. To p it bluntly I am fine with dirt and sleep outside in nature no blanket no problem, but I refused to sleep here even without a refund. I stayed in the bus station overnight instead and that was cleaner and smelled better. I do not recommend this place to anyone

Acceptable”
This was one of the worst hostels that i’ve been in my life like a backpacker. It is pretty dirty, weird, abandoned, dark. Dont go to this hostel is really sad see things like this. There animals and of course they defecate but the staff leave the pop wherever, they dont clean, so why do they have pets if dont wanna take the responsibility? The building looks like an abandoned one, and seems like a place for homeless

A nightmare”
Worst hotel I’ve ever been to, our bed was hard as a rock, the whole hostel smelled really bad and the ambience was really unpleasant. Staff didn’t look happy to see us either.

Great Getaway from the Bangkok Tourist Center”
Overstay is located in a residential neighbourhood that has proximity tourist sites, but is very authentically native Bangkok. Walk in one direction to find nighttime street food markets and in another to find a Bangkok supermall. The building itself fits the character of the surrounding neighbourhood, but with plenty of its own twists. It's a 6 floor (sorry, no elevator) building with artwork done in a number of styles from various artists that have stayed there over the years. I happened to be around for the 9th anniversary party, so that should give you some idea of the array of art styles. Speaking of the party, this is where the double-edged sword sword comes in. In addition to being a guest house, Overstay prides itself as being an independent art and entertainment venue. They welcome any artist to come in and play at any time and host regular DJs and bands. This can last until late hours and will not be for everyone. There are dorm and private rooms, both of which I stayed in during my time there. Both types of rooms are fairly basic, but the mattresses have certainly improved since my first stay. Every morning, I met the regular cleaning ladies who come in, wash all the empty floors and bathrooms, and will give you a change of sheets or clean your room if you let them know. Or alternatively, ask a staff member to ask them. Overall, I enjoyed my stay here tremendously. The atmosphere and people who stay and work there are fantastic and many are long-term or repeat visitors. This makes information very accessible and a great environment to make new friends or travel buddies.

Awesome place to meet like minded travelers”
I read a bunch of reviews of people complaining that the Overstay isn't fancy but it doesn't pretend to be fancy. The Overstay is awesome though. The rooms are basic but clean there are plenty of clean bathrooms and there is a great communal area that's a bar at night. The couple who run the Overstay are awesome, super helpful and accommodating if you need anything. I would reccommend anyone who can appreciate walls being covered in sweet graffiti art stay here. I know I'll stay at the overstay again.

Awesome place if you're into art and music!”
Friendly staff, feels like a home. Interesting events going on in the weekends. Musical instruments to jam with and walls to do art on. Stayed many more days than I was supposed to. Many vegetarian restaurants nearby. Only downside is that if you stay on thethe first floor the music might be loud at some point, I asked to move to another room and the helpful staff helped me out. Would recommend if you are into meeting new people and experience something outside of the norm of what a hostel is. This is a creative zone, home to some underground movements and a great place to tap into what life has to offer.
