What I would like to see is the halls, general areas and stairways redecorated and new carpets laid. Other than that, everything was excellent.

A great hotel, staff in all area’s excellent, only one problem the last three times this year that we have been to the Royal the one and only lift has broken down and that has been very difficult for a lot of people.

Cheap & cheerful sums this hotel up. The location is superb with sea views on two sides. Unfortunately they’d lost our booking when we arrived but did eventually find it. We hadn’t upgraded so we were given a room at the back with a car park view. There was a good choice for breakfast. Not the best but could be worse. The evening meal less impressive. Again cheap and cheerful, adequate. The hotel looked somewhat shabby and in need of updating. It served our purpose for an overnight stop on a cycling trip. The room was basic but clean. Nothing to really complain about, slightly on the expensive side for what it was.

The hotel foyer is very tired. We stayed in a superior room with sea views. The room had been recently refurbished and was really nice with fantastic views over the harbour and sea. Comfortable beds and a small table and chairs in front of the floor to ceiling window. The room was warm even with strong winds outside

Great location overlooking Whitby, the Royal Hotel has probably seen better days. I'd have to say a few things in the room didn't quite work properly, but while some of the staff appeared a little inexperienced, they did everything they could to be helpful and were very friendly.

Great location on the cliff with stunning views. Good breakfast and reasonably priced. The place is quite run-down though - the lift broke down while we were there, which was very unfortunate given that so many elderly people with mobility problems stay at the hotel.

The hotel said room with sea view which we did have however the windows were filthy inside and out .the room was adequate but not worth the price. The paint was peeling off the window frames especially in the bathroom. The staff were fantastic couldn’t do enough for us and always very polite. Brilliant breakfast lots of choices. We were on the third floor there is only one very small lift not good when it breaks down.
