Wonderful hotel in Trang”
Friendly and helpful staff. Excellent Thai breakfast buffet, with authentic regional dishes. Beautiful, and well-maintained swimming pool. The workout room could be better air-conditioned. Occasionally the outdoor music was too loud too late, but I do tend to go to bed early.

A Trip to Trang”
Spent 2 days in the area and as usual, stayed at the Thumrin Thana, easy access, nice facility, but now NO BREAKFAST. The hotel is very close to the downtown market, about 600 meters.

Fascinating experience ”
Check in great to a huge hotel empty of guests. The hotel was spotless and quiet with a great pool and nice cafe. It is clearly in decline and has seen better days. Staff help, greetings and support was patchy, internet slow and unreliable across the building, the gym is shuttered and the restaurant wouldn’t accept a walk in at 732 pm because they closed at 8. I enjoyed the experience but some people will find this place creepy. Hence my hesitation in fully recommending.

A grand old hotel that's showing its age.”
We stayed here before, a few years ago. It is a comfortable place to stay but it's showing signs of aging. The breakfast was only satisfactory with very limited choices. We will continue to stay here when in the area.

Billed as 4 stars but actually 3 stars ... at best. ”
I stayed from April 13 to April 16, 2019, on the 15th floor. All rooms have old carpets with a musty smell, although turning on the air con on high helped. Sheets were hard and old, and obviously no fabric softener is used. Towels in the bathroom are equally hard and hold. Room furniture was basic. Breakfast was no frills, just basic and ok. Wifi is available in rooms. The hotel lobby looks much older and darker than in photos on the internet. I was not made aware that there was a swimming pool, gym or sauna, so I assume none were available. On a look at empty rooms, I saw that bathroom doors in many rooms were damaged with paint stripping off, and water damage was visible on walls in some rooms. Staff were friendly and helpful. My Thai wife was visiting her relatives in downtown Trang and so that's why we stayed for 3 days. I think though that the hotel is most suitable for people to stay just a night and the next day travel by boat to stay at a resort on one of the islands.

Trang city will be your hub stop if u r headed to any of the surrounding islands for adventure, Koh Mook, koh Kradan etc.(aprox 50min drive from Trang city to the coast/boat ) The south is not anything like the melting pot of Thailand 'BKK' , the local economy is agriculture. rubber, cashew nuts etc. local pass times is duelling bulls. "big money livestock!" Backpacker types will be at home here. the local language even thickens the more closer u get to Malaysia. funny, even central Thais have to listen closely to understand the southern locals...dialect & southern twang... lol The Thurmin Thana hotel may be the cities best offering when it comes to western standards. Stay away from the spa (mezzanine floor) in the Thurmin Thana hotel. " terrible service for thai standards" u r better elsewhere. In general the accommodations r at its best..just another standard hotel..there are professional services available. (ex.) catering, business center etc. upside is also security. There is key access to activate elevators up to the rooms, heavy lobby staff and theres proud security personnel like most organized accommodations in thailand. For the price its worth it. Everything worked in my room. AC :), a view, local TV...yah and western toilet haha....i have humbly no complaints and not much expectations! The staff is great. Professional and courteous. Limited in english but can get by. Expect major english language limitations outside of the hotel. Better work on your charades game. Get a hotel business card before u depart for adventure. it will help the driver to understand going back to the "rhong rham= hotel" Thumrin Thana . The local food is where its at though. Go off grid and take a old school classic tuk tuk. Now i know how it is to be on R&R back in the day. Go get some thai/ muslim fusion cuisine. U r in a ancient country. Your in the south now!

Big spacious rooms”
I arrived from Koh Lanta and stayed one night at Thumrin Thana Hotel in Trang while waiting for my flight to Bangkok, the next day. I like this hotel. It is a big hotel in the city center. The pride of Trang a decade (or two) ago, I guess... Still, the hotel is not as run down as some reviews may indicate. My room was spacious and clean with an amazing view over Trang. The hotel catering mostly to thai business travelers, I think. Not so many western tourists stay at this hotel. The hotel has a fitness center and a pool. When I stayed at Thumrin Thana I was the only one using the pool and fitness room, althought the hotel had a lot of guest. Most of the staff can understand a bit english, but only a few can speak english fluently. Good value for money (I paid 1 500 THB for one night at Thumrin Thana Hotel in January 2013).
