Liked this hotel, despite a few quirks”

I would not mention this unless it was so frequent! Every time you go out of your room the electric gets turned off by the front desk staff. Four times in two days they "forgot" to turn it back on again when I returned. Then after walking upstairs, one must walk all the way back downstairs again, and find someone to turn on the power, and walk all the way back up again (sweating profusely by this time.) Ultimately I learned to just turn it on myself, to make sure it got done. OK barring that problem, the hotel was fine. Other reviews noted noise from the new building construction next door, still in-work, and evening noise from the outdoor Karaoke on the beach. Luckily the room had two fans, air conditioning, and Cable TV so lots of noise could drown out the horrible singing.

My daughter and I met up in Ha Long and stayed 4 nights. The room was serviced every morning, and was great value for money for me. Close to tours, and markets and plenty of eating spots only a short walk away. At least 5 ATMs within 300metres of the hotel. Not for the elderly as the walk up to the reception is steep plus there is no lift but plenty of stairs. I am 57 and my daughter 20.

Great place to stay for backpackers”

we stayed here for 4 days back in aug. we were lucky to get the 5th floor with balcony (big balcony) and an amazing view. the rooms are basic but very clean. the bathroom was a fair size and good shower power. the lady on reception is the ower of the hotel and is really friendly and helpful. the staff don't pressure you do do trips like other hotels in vietnam. the night porter is real cool and we had a good laugh with him. i'd say for the price and location book it !

Lovley Hotel, Great Location, Excellent Staff”

The hotel is lovely, great views, the staff are so helpful and kind and will do anything to make your stay enjoyable. And, the price is more than affordable.

Friendly hotel for a quick stop over to Halong Bay”

We only stayed at Thuy Duong for one night before we headed off on a cruise in Halong. It was very basic with all you need only con is that they didnt really have a nice restaurant or a fridge. It was also very noisy - alot of construction in the area and also loud singing till late. Its ok - not the greatest but perfect for a quick stopover.

The hotel is well located and accessible to local restaurants and the night markets. If you can get a room with ocean view, it is simply stunning to wake up to on a clear day. There are no lifts so if you dont mind the walk up the flight up the stairs then no dramas. Also there is no air conditioning, only fans but you dont really need air conditioning in that weather. Make sure you dont book any tours off the hotel though. The prices they offer are absolutely ridiculous and the the manager of the hotel is not very nice the moment the know u dont want to book tours with them. Also make sure they weigh ur laundry in front of you before you get it done with them as they ripped my family off on the first laundry we did with them.

very close to travel pier, very good travel advice from hotel manager. it is not fancy but it is cheap.

Good location and helpful”

Hotel was in a great location. Had good size rooms and comfortable for the price. Staff were more than helpful staff. Food was basic but within easy walking distance to many restaurants. Would stay there again

Helpful staff ”

The hotel needed painting on the floor I was on and it also needed door maintenance, the security peephole had been removed on all of the doors and leaving a hole in all the doors. The rooms were ok and the view from the the window of shipping in the bay was superb. The food was very good, the service was good and staff very helpful The Hotel was noisy late at night due to student holiday accommodation

Nice and affordable”

Nice hotel, not the best bay view but still it's the first hotel line (be ready for some loud Vietnamese music in the evening from bars and cafes). Clean room, fridge and TV. Hot water was actually warm but that's ok. I don't recommend to book tours and tickes with the hotel though as they can charge 15 usd for a ticket wich in really coasts 5 usd.

the hotel staff was friendly and helpful and the room had a beautiful view of the bay! we didn't eat here, we tried other restaurants down the road. we were there in december and it was quite chilly, it's a good idea to bring warm layers. overall a good hotel!

comfortable with basic amenities”

small hotel extremely well located: opposite the nght market, and a few minutes drive to the pier. good value for money wifi available, cheap breakfast rooms are small but comfortable - very basic bathroom though

Cheap”

We just did a one afternoon Halong Bay cruise and opted not to take the long bus ride back to Hanoi. So we booked an inexpensive hotel in Halong City. Fortunately we were quite lucky with a beautiful sunny day on the cruise. The hotel wasn't that great, in fact it was mediocre at best. The view from the room was high quality. I can't recommend it but hey what do you expect for the price?

i booked this hotel because of its location and price. what you pay is what you get. very old and basic hotel, ok for one night.

Nice staffs”

Hotel itself wasn't that good but has good view as long as u have second above floor. The staffs r very kind to serve u. I was arriving late but they sent me a nice pick up car to get me. It was so great n after that the manager gave me a drive to restaurant. Nice staffs!

A bit below average”

It felt a lot like a low grade motel in places, the rooms had pretty basic facilities, and the bathroom was quite dirty. It doesn't look like it has been upgraded in years. The hotel staff, although small numbered (we guessed it was family owned and run), they were quite helpful to advise us about tours and getting to next destination. But frankly, it lets down a promising location with a hotel in serious need of renovation!

Great location but no very good room”

They are helpful but the room is just very normal with this lower price. Bathroom water supply is too slow. They put me in 4th floor sea view room but without lift, is too tired for my wife during she go back from lunch and dinner.

amazing”

fantastic place friendly staff and cheap. we booked tours through the office and we payed less then everyone else on the tour. food is exceptional. we booked 3 days ended up staying 7. we will be back
