Good value for money”

Professional service, affordable room rate, nice place of stay

1. The resort is much nicer than it is on the pictures, which is quite surprising to me. 2. The location is good, close to city center 3. The beach itself is clean, nice, not so deep, children can swim easily there 4. There is a restaurant which is run by foreigners; thus, the food provided is of high standard and close to the european taste. 5. There is also AromaSpa, the best place for massage in Phu Quoc, which locates inside the resort and looks directly to the beach. 6. There is a night bar, just a few steps on the right side of the resort, which has live music (foreign singers) 7. The resort provides all necessary add-in services which make your stay pleasurable. 8. The owner of this resort is also the owner of the biggest Phu Quoc tour company, thus making it simple for tourists who wants to book the tours within and outside Phu Quoc. 9. One of the cheapest resort on the Phu Quoc island as the overall accomodation price in Phu Quoc is very high. Probably, because this resort is newly run and do not advertise themselves so much.

Perfect little beach spot”

Enjoyed my stay here VERY much. I picked it by walking up and down the beach from my first accommodation on Phu Quoc. There was always people at Viet Thanh enjoying the beach, swimming, eating, drinking and laughing when I went past. I stayed in a non-AC, basic room for 3 nights and then a nicer AC room for another 3. Both were good, the non-AC was probably the best "value" for me, but I was travelling alone and am used to more rudimentary lodgings from past travels. The grounds are nice and very well maintained, the location on the beach is awesome if you like to be in the thick of the action (which I do!), there are tons of good food and drink options all around and Rory's Beach bar is literally 2 minutes away if you want to "go out". There's also some great options just up the street behind the resort, less than 5 minutes walk away. Staff are friendly but professional, I rented a scooter for a couple of days that was reasonable value and ran well. All told, not only would I stay here again, I plan to do so soon! Phu Quoc is a lovely island that is just on the verge of blowing up as a destination, I want to maximize the experience as it is as much as possible before that explosion happens

Fabulous bungalows on great beach, very good value”

Great value for money on fairly expensive island

Wow. what can we say. this was a fabulous place on a beautiful beach and the best value for money place we found on the island. It appeared to us that phu Quoc is fairly expensive. Viet Thanh along with May restaurant were the best value for money places we found. We booked a standard room but were upgraded to a bungalow. But even if you paid the bungalow prices they are still amazingly good value. All the other places we looked at to the north were very very expensive in comparison. Most of the bungalows have sea views or at least peaks of the sea, very roomy, clean, good bathroom, not shower. Felt very luxurious considering what we paid.

Not new or modern but perfectly situated.”

Her's the thing about this place. The facilities are really basic especially if you're used to modern, new chain-type hotels. Our room was very sparse and basic, the bathroom was just shy of camping, but both were clean (and cleaned daily). The real beauty of this place is the location on the beach. It's nestled in lush tropical forest-like setting. There are beautiful palm trees on the beach here, providing natural shade and a secluded feel in the middle of the most popular beach on the island. Even if we return to Phu Quoc and stay at a 5 star resort we would come back to this stretch of beach to swim, eat, drink, and relax.

2nd visit...even better than last year!”

Staff/Service, Location, Grounds/Bungalows

Stayed here last year and didn't have any complaints. I don't consider myself extremely picky (don't need a 5-star resort), but I do have standards. The staff are good people and you can tell they work hard to give you a comfortable stay. Rooms are clean and comfortable and have been updated since last year, as well as the beautiful grounds! I have no complaints and would recommend Viet Thanh to everyone. In fact, it baffles me to read complaints because they are nothing like my experiences here. YOU'RE ON AN ISLAND. ENJOY THE MOMENT!! It seems the expectations of people are set at such a high, unrealistic standard, I'm not sure there's much they would enjoy other than having staff feed them grapes while fanning their elitist selves with palms the entire time. This place is great :)

Great location,value for money”

Nice exotic garden, quiet part of the Beach, bonus with pool/ gym across the Street, and there's a great little juicebar around the corner. Ok beds, mosquitonet and phu Quoc best pillows. Very nice - cleaning staff and staff in general. sometimes a short visit of a friendly gekko if you leave any kind of food in the room. The beach restaurant would definetely benefit from a few english lessons as they tend to misunderstand even basics like hot or cold, Coffe or Tea. Sometimes you even get the wrong dish. They are very nice and always helping you with a smile though. Reception speak english. Will recomend.

Anemic but OK”

Good location, clean, nice resort

the resort is located a few km out of duong dong, on the beach, where also lots of other resorts are located. there are beach view and garden view bungalows that look very nice (i don't knoe the price). the backyard view bungalows are nothing special (27 usd/night - they are different from the other bungalows), better to have a room in the building ( night) as we did. the resort beach restorant is more expencive and not so good at the neigbouring restorant at nhat lan resort (reccomend the evening bbq). the personal is little bit anemic but kind and helpful. their english is quite poor, only for basic communication. they have also motorbikes for rent (day). after 2 days our room was clened and the linnen was changed. the beach has yellowish very fine sand, because of what the water is not so clear, as in all vietnam.

Low key easy living in the sand”

Very friendly place, both staff and other guests. Mix of 20 somethings and older people, with several families. Not luxurious, but it shouldn't be when your feet are in the sand all day. Definitely the best place on long beach. Beach front unit was worth the extra dong, but all the units are nice. Cocktails were pretty bad and expensive, but beer was cheap. Food was OK, nightly fish BBQ on the beach was fantastic. Buy your own wine at the little shop on the access road; they'll give you glasses and an ice bucket. Nothing compares to the magic of eating 3 meals a day with your feet in the sand just inches from the water. Pool was huge, warm, well chlorinated, with better cocktails and food delivered poolside. I wouldn't look anywhere else if I were going back, it's the flashpacker ideal. Young staff tries hard, but has no management -- you're on island time -- with that in mind service was pretty good.

good value for money”

this resort is one of the cheapest directly at the sea. i had a room with a double bed and a bathroom. nice hammock on your own veranda. no airconditioning but that explains the price. also the beach isnt yet converted to a bar/restarant so this is actually one of the few resorts in the row with a decent beach with free (if you are a guest) deckchairs! however, like al the beaches in asia, a lot of garbage and plastic drifts on to the beach, a general problem in the whole of asia. One big downside however was the tour they had arranged for me back to can tho. Normally it should take about 5 hours but this time it took me nearly 12 hours! Better book your own boat and bus (they send me to Ha Tien instead of Rach Gia with the boat so the route over land was almost twice as long opposed to the boat to rach gia. Same story if you go to Ho CHi Minh, also first passes Rach Gia > advice: book the superdong to rach Gia and then take the bus somewhere.)

No wonder it has only and a half stars”

This could have been a very nice stay except that I got the category of bungalow unasked for. Upon arrival and tired from a long trip on bus and boat, I did not hassle but after settling in, resting and becoming more orientated I established that the receptionist probably had not even looked at the type of accommodation I had paid for (a $36 one.) As I would only be here for two nights and not wanting any more hassles I did not ask for a change of lodgings. Over this period, I noticed that the staff although friendly were more interested in internet browsing in the office or watching TV not far away than having any interest in the proper running of this establishment. So when it came to arranging my flight back to Ho Chi Min City I went next door to the Lien Hiep Thanh Resort whose personnel arranged it and a bus to take me to the airport as I could not trust the competency so far shown here. Afterwards, I asked my neighbours how much they had paid which was $20, confirming my suspicions. As well, no one came to empty the bins, clean my room, change or make the bed during the two days that I was here. This is my first ever complaint in all the times that I have been to Nam.
