Had a great stay at Woodstock beach camp. The facilities were very clean and the staff very helpful and friendly. It is a very good value for money. It is outside the main town but still a good place to explore the island from.

Woodstock Beach Camp ”
Coming from the southern part of Cat Ba Island (Hải Phong), Woodstock Bagpackers is about 7 km from Cat Ba Town. I was there 3 years ago before the Corona Pandemic and is was full of life with a lot of young people then. This time we were only a handful guests and in gerneral tourism for forengers on a low budget is not yet as before. The Check In was easy due to an "english" speaking receptionist. The rooms are clean and the beds in the rooms are very comfortable. All rooms at the first floor have two or three beds and can accomodate up to four people which would be nice for families too. Each room has an aircon and a wall mounted fan. The bathrooms are simple and somehow "rustical" but functional. There is a dormitory too, but I have not seen it and will therefore not comment on it. Breakfast and food can be ordered. Internet is free and stable. There is a beach 50 m away across the road. It could be a nice place but unfortunatelly it's a complete mess full of garbage, plastic waste and other rubbish. The regular Bus stopps in front of the Bagpackers but it is recommend to come with a Motorbike or rent one in Cat Ba Town.

Very cool, mellow place to stay”
The Woodstock Beach Camp is a cool little getaway on Cat Ba Island. It's a bit isolated, which I liked, but you'll need to be pretty proficient with a motorbike to navigate the bumpy gravel roads between there and town, or pay for a taxi. The staff is nice and accommodating, including working around my tricky food allergies (having a Vietnamese allergy card to show the kitchen staff helped), and the facility is right on the water. The other travelers who stayed there were the chill-backpacker type, and were nice to hang out with. The family dinner was excellent.

Every one was very nice and helpful. The family dinner was amazing and there were always activities to do. Have been and would highly recommend any one going to Cat Ba to spend at least a few days and nights with them at WoodStock!!!

Super chill and friendly”
If you're looking for a quiet relaxing stay on Cat Ba this is a perfect choice. Located on a nice beach in a calm bay. The staff were very friendly and helpful. They offer a family dinner every night for 100000vnd. I ate a whole plate of oysters one night! I'll definitely be back!

if you're a young backpacker”
I spent only one night on the way to Catba city area cause I got off a ferry at the northern port. The hostel itself looks very peaceful and natural, it's all made of wood as you tell from the name "woodstock beach camp". However the hostel wasn't built neatly that the door has very wide gap as well as the bathroom. You can hear every move of other guests in your room that I coudn't sleep well. Besides it was in the middle of winter, I couldn't even take shower with the cold wind getting from the gap, end up leaving the very next day. But everthing was okay for the price. I really love that peacful atmophere and every staffs are nice and helpful. If you're a young backpacker who need to take some rest, I would recomend this!

The staff was amazing, they created a great vibe in the hostel. Although the hostel is far from Cat Ba town, the location on the beach was ideal for relaxing. The big down point to Woodstock was the food they served. I had family dinner and everyone who ate it that night was sick of food poisoning. The worst thing is after recovering from it i ate something else from their menu and got sick a second time... Great hostel to have a good time but avoid eating there.

Woodstock spirit remains in this place, each night family dinner and then you can continue on the bar. They can book transport tickets, you can pay by credit Card, and they have a beautiful beach just in front of the hotel that you don't need even shoes.

Great spot out of the way ”
Staff are great they are all tourist themselves that have stayed on so many different languages covered. Lovely quiet bay for walks along the beach but beach not suitable for swimming but kayaks available for rent. Scooter hire available which we did for 2 days. Bumpy roads but not a lot of traffic. Rooms are simple nothing flash or you can sleep in a tent on beach or in hammocks on the deck. As it names suggests it is very hippy (lots of young cruisey people) with nice bar across the road to have a drink or play pool. Family dinner is when you can sit down with other guests and enjoy heaps of different dishes of yummy food.

The camp is a good place for relaxing and meet other travelers. They have friendly staffs, hammocks and great music. But at night it can be very noisy because the walls are thin and you hear everything from your room neighbour. :)

It is in the middle of nowhere, which is great in my opinion, has its own private beach, lots of hammocks and couches. Great places for solo travelers to meet great people. The nicest staff I've met so far.

Nice chill hostel but lack of services!”
Its a great place to socialize and meet new people if you are a solo traveler but they are lack of basic services (hot showers, kitchen closes at 7pm and you are far from town)¡ Things get a bit worst when the weather doesn't help; tents on the beach are a great idea but they don't have a plan b in case it rains. Besides there are many holes in the ceiling in the lounge areas and dorms too. Staff were completely friendly and always willing to help and solve your problems (even most of them are volunteers and don't even get paid)

It’s for DIRTY hippies. Stay here if you like to chill in 100 degree heat with no hygiene ”
The workers are all high and not very helpful. My friend had a motor bike crash and needed medical attention and when we came back the hippies who ran this joint only asked if the bike was ok and pointed us to a very unimpressive first aid kit. It wasn’t until a Vietnamese worker came to us and asked if she was ok and took us to the hospital. Also this place is DISGUSTING. My sheets were brown and the doors to the dorms don’t even lock and no safes. Everyone is basically on drugs. The hippie workers basically run the front desk (poorly) and the friendly Vietnamese workers are basically the slaves. Also the front desk closes at 7 and they refuse to help you or answer any questions after this time. It does have a very chill vibe and you can get weed (decent but brown and expensive and definitely they rip you off). OHHHH also the beach is not swimmable and disgusting. Enjoy your stay in hippie beach camp.

Very warm and welcoming atmosphere, Great music in the bar area, a nice change from the regular backpackers hostel soundtrack.. Food is tasty and comes in large portions. Bedding is simple, but air-conditioned and comfortable. Little bit of mould on the underside of the mattress but that's my only concern and hard to avoid in monsoon season. I recommend the motorcycle repair guy at the front desk too for good local rates.

If you don’t mind fleas or bed bugs then this is the place for you. ”
Basically if you want a hostel vibe, you’ll get it here. We stayed in a triple room and found bed bugs and fleas in our bed. We actually slept on one single bed for 3 nights as we felt like we couldn’t communicate this to the staff because they’d think we’re insane for complaining. There are people sleeping straight outside your door on mattresses which is quite disturbing. We found a newt in one of the bed sheets and the bathroom is open so many bugs can come in. One night a massive cockroach came through! It’s loud in the evenings (until 8pm when guests go to the bar opposite) and I felt if you didn’t have that hostel/traveller look about you, no one has the time of day for you. However good points include staff that are accommodating and there is a rocky beach opposite - we liked that it was out of town but to be honest would have been more comfortable in town elsewhere. Very hard to recommend unless you’re there to party the night away and not concerned about hygiene.
