Well worth considering if you're on a budget”

The Coppermines hostel is at the top of a very rough track out of Coniston village which I would not like to have to negotiate in the dark. Plenty of space to park, though. Facilities are hostel basic, but very clean, and the staff are very friendly and welcoming. They provided a lovely two-course dinner (with vegetarian option) for £9.95 which saved the hassle of going back into the village. Bar service available until early evening too.
