Absolutely incredible location”
Wow. What views. You'll never believe that this hostel is at the top of the 199 steps and bang next to the Whitby Abbey. You even get free access to the Abbey and Museum when you stay. The staff were amazing. The parking is free. The check-in is at around 5 pm so get parked and get exploring. The parking is a little strange. You need to drive through the gates of the museum entrance and go down behind it. We had a six bed dorm to ourselves. The view of Whitby is superb in the morning when you wake, and in the evening when all the lights are on. In all, what a great spot for a stay in Whitby and the price is fantastic in comparison to the local hotel options. Thank you YHA!

This was our first time, as a family, staying at YHA Whitby and we thoroughly enjoyed it. Our room was very clean with a wonderful view. The staff were very friendly and helpful. We will definitely be going back.

Very stylish and comfortable accommodation ”
The place is just behind the Museum at Whitby Abbey and it’s in a beautiful charming historical building. The room is very spacious and clean, and the bed is very comfortable. The on-site cafe serves good English breakfast. Overall I will definitely recommend the place.

Rooms, are adequate, has a good lift, shower is powerful ans hot water flows. Window was forced open for ventilation. Beds were bunk or single in our room. Its a long way down to town nearly 200 steps so be fit.

Amazing location ”
Lovely hostel with such beautiful surroundings, took us a while to find it as we didn’t realise you actually have to drive through the abbey entrance to enter the grounds. The fact this hostel is inside the abbey makes it all the magical, and the knowing the local stories of Dracula made it seem particularly eerie on a howling windy night in February. The hostel sits above the 199 steps so you get a beautiful view of Whitby when on foot. Reception was also very handy and we were pleased to find out we got free entrance to the abbey for staying in the hostel, highly recommend and will definitely come back here again!

Stayed here with my husband and 2 children, great location free parking, clean bedding and comfy beds, top bunk was a bit squeaky .Only negative was the carpet in the bedroom and throughout the hostel could have done with a good clean. Apart from that every thing great .

Perfect stay”
It was the best YHA I've ever stayed. It was so nice and lovely that I regretted to stay only for 1 night. The building itself has a long history that gives us a unique experience to stay. The location was perfect. It located just next to the Whitby Abbey and St Mary's Church. The hostel is group and family friendly. This YHA doesn't offer a typical self-catering kitchen but also a cafe which reliefs us from the hassle to cook. The only problem will be parking space. The YHA Whitby has limited car parking space and the nearest council car parking will be about 5-10 minutes walk from the accommodation. The council car parking has plenty of space and is free during winter. But it is so dark that you will require bringing a torch to walk to and fro the YHA Whitby. Overall, we are satisfied with our stay with YHA Whitby and will come back for sure.

Perfect accommodation to visit Whitby Abbey”
We went with a family of 2 small children and 3 adults (1 of which, a senior). The hostel was initially hard to find as it didn't particularly have any signage towards it. We ended up walking ALL around with our luggages before finding the entrance and realising that we didn't need to walk that way. We had our own simple showers and toilets. (You get what you pay for). The carpets were a bit.... overused. And we had views to a carpark. But for the price we paid, we're not complaining. It was clean enough. Bare minimum. There are communal sitting rooms and a kitchen. BUT the best bit was that we got complimentary tickets to visit Whitby Abbey! We enjoyed the Dracula Experience and had a really day out. (OMG don't miss that Dracula Experience, it's the best EVER!) The hostel is basically attached to the Abbey. There's free parking. It was in a way perfect for us! It was cheap, it had everything we needed, and we got free tickets!

The hostel has a fabulous location and it was surprisingly comfortable. Staff were polite and helpful. The room was spacious and clean. Public areas were clean and made it more fun. The best extra was as we left we got given comp tickets from yha to enter whitby abbey! Thank you.

Pleasure to stay in such a beautiful building with good value of money”
Very comfortable, clean, and spacious room. Located in a beatific and well-preserved heritage building right next to Whitby Abbey. The only complaint was that there was a metallic noise (coming out from the toilet maybe? I was in room 13) going on and on throughout the time, making it a difficult to fall asleep. And I even got woken up several times in the middle of the night. But all in all I still enjoyed my stay.

Location was great with a stunning view of Whitbey abbey and the town centre and harbour nearby. ”
Very close to the town centre, follow the 199 steps. The hostel was pretty big and the surrounding area was just awesome with a spectacular view of Whitney town! Whitbey abbey was located just next to the hostel , free complimentary entrance if you stay at the hostel, remember to ask when you check in. Staff were helpful and friendly. There is a tea room to order your food and also a self-catering kitchen to do your own cooking which was very convenient for us with children. There is WiFi connection around the ground floor area in the tea room, family room and tv room. We all had a lovely time, will definitely stay again when we visit Whitbey next time.

very friendly staff, located just behind museum and Abbey entrance, complimentary entrance to Abbey. A bit pricy and we need to manage our bed and bring everything down as we check out.. but it was quite an interesting experience...
