It’s very convenient for participant to attend conference at KICC ”
This hotel connects to the KICC and K1 subway station (Kokusaikaikan). The hotel is clean and comfort, I used the gym that have a lot of machines. You can go to the conference at KICC within 10 minutes, and connect to the Kyoto station around 30 minutes to travel in town. Many facilities are inside the room. If you set the awake call it has service call for 400 JPY per night. There is a small shop near lobby, there are many items to buy for you love one, However, you need to communicate in Japanese well.

Thank you very much for staying with us The Prince Kyoto Takaragaike. Our hotel is located right in front of the Kyoto International Conference Center so that it is very convenient for those who attend conferences. We are located in a very quiet and natural environment. Our gym is equipped with a variety of machines, and we are glad to hear that you could enjoy workout. All the hotels located in Kyoto city including us The Prince Kyoto Takaragaike, Autograph Collection are required to collect Kyoto city accommodation tax. The amount of accommodation tax depends on the amount of room rate, and we found 400 JPY was for this accommodation tax, not for wake-up call. Regarding the English speaking abilities of our staff, we are truly sorry we could not meet your expactations. We will work hard to improve future communication with our customers. You can enjoy four seasons with this nature-rich environment. We look forward to welcoming you again.
Room is clean and big, everything is great.”
Will recommend to friends and family.

Good location right off subway line. Great find for price. ”
Basically attached to the northernmost Karasuma line in Kyoto making it super accesible and a 20 minute ride to Kyoto station. Would recommend buying a single day subway pass bc we used that to get all over the city from the hotel. Staff were very helpful. Room spacious and clean. Worth it for what we paid.

Excellent in many aspects!”
I visited Kyoto for the second time after 20 years. Grand Prince Hotel is right across the Kyoto International Convention Center where my meeting was held so it was an excellent choice location wise. A very tranquil environment to stay. Service was great. It's good to have both Western and Japanese style breakfast in the same place. Staff was extremely professional and helpful when I had issue with my flight back to the U.S. Perhaps the only thing I wish the hotel had is a gym. Other than that, excellent!

Grand Prince Hotel, Kyoto, Japan”
I enjoyed my stay at the Grand Prince and the room enabled me to conduct my afterhours work very efficiently. The environment is very enjoyable and a walk around the lake and in the general area very refreshing. This is not a 'down town' hotel but the taxi service into the City shopping is excellent. Kyoto is a beautiful city embraced by wooded mountains.

Kyoto Luxury Oasis”
We enjoyed the peaceful atmosphere of the Grand Prince Kyoto away from heavy traffic. Afternoon tea at Pond Cafe was special treat after a long day of sightseeing. The staff was very helpful and courteous. The hotel exceeded expectations.

Ideal location for conference facilities”
We found the Grand Prince Hotel Kyoto location excellent for attendance at the Kyoto conference centre opposite. For general sight seeing better options are available in Kyoto City itself. The Hotel was to an excellent standard. Breakfast was a problem for us as we started at 6.45am and could not have breakfast earlier at the hotel so we purchased breakfast provisions from a nearby hotel. On the first night we could not secure a booking in the hotel restaurants as they were fully booked out so walked down to the main street and went to a restaurant there. The hotel pricing increased during the period of the conference so were disappointed with that. We stayed an extra 3 nights in Kyoto but chose to stay at a more centrally located hotel. Although the Grand Prince Hotel had reduced accommodation prices dramatically post conference we chose to stay elsewhere, as felt ripped off by the hotel during the conference and was disappointed from that perspective.

Not suitable for all travelers. ”
I was shocked that the Grand Prince Hotel serves shark fin soup. Shark fin is a species that is banned in many countries due to their endangered status. Worse still, the restaurants have almost no food for vegetarians. I fail to see how any hotel could be so disrespectful of guests to not have any vegetarian options available. The staff are very respectful of guests and the rooms quite nice, but the area is a virtual food desert for vegetarians, I would not recommend this hotel to anyone concerned for the environment no matter how nice the staff are.

High-end hotel, but very limited facilities”
Stay here if you need to be near the Kyoto International Conference Center. For this it is extremely convenient, as from anywhere else you need to travel a lot. It is a nice high-end hotel, surrounded by amazing greenery, rare in Japan, great jogging in the park with a lake, etc. But the hotel itself is nothing more, no gym, no pool, no other services. Not worth paying a penny for the Executive Lounge - it is nice, but it offers almost nothing except drinks in the evening. It was always empty, noone uses it. It is also bizarre that in a 4* international hotel next to an International Conference Centre where major international treaties have been negotiated, there are NO ENGLISH TV CHANNELS, except for one that is mostly devoted to promoting Japan. No BBC, no CNN, etc... Otherwise nice big rooms (unlike rest of Japan), superb views, nice breakfast.

Grand Prince Hotel Kyoto”
Interior design looks a bit like a wedding cake, and obviously caters to lots of weddings, but that is quite nice too. Our room was large and comfortable even with and extra bed for our daughter. The beds very comfortable. Very clean. Fantastic view of forest from our large window. Very handy to rail. Staff go out of their way to be helpful and able to cope with English speakers. Loved the food, comprehensive buffet breakfast, western and Japanese available. Interesting fellow guests, mostly weddings, other tourists (mostly Japnaese) and people attending the Kyoto confrence center across the road. Calm and relaxed atmosphere, large lake with pleasent walks and comunity activities across the road. Loved it.

Great hotel for staying in Kyoto. ”
It's outside the every day tourism spots, but there were bus services and other means to get to the sites around Kyoto. We got the rooms at a discounted rate, but wow the rooms and the area around the hotel are great for those who would like a quiet retreat morning after spending a busy day and night in the city. There is a small pond with walking trails around it for a leisurely morning hike.

Quiet but close to the attractions”
The staffs are very friendly and kind. It is located at quiet environment surrounded by trees but access to the subway is just around the corner. The place where Kyoto protocol was signed is just in front of the hotel. Recommended to people who wants to have relaxing and quiet with a bit of sightseeing holiday in Kyoto.

Good hotel but a little remote”
We arrived at the hotel at 2 pm and were informed that check in was 3 pm and we were just left to our own devices for an hour. I believe that the hotel should have an area where customers could make themselves a cup of tea or coffee while waiting. There should also be tour maps and brochures in English available and staff should also have an understanding of English as it was a little difficult to communicate. However our room was upgraded which was appreciated and the room had a great view of the gardens and was clean and well laid out. The location of the hotel is a little remote being at the end of the railway line at Kokusai Kaikan Station, however the signage was good and there is a covered walkway to the hotel. The breakfast was excellent and each day an English Japan newspaper was delivered to our room. It was a good base for exploring Kyoto. Also note that there is a 200 JPY Kyoto City Tax for accommodation costing under 20,000 JPY per night.

Definitely a pleasant stay”
The hotel is located near the kokusaikaikan subway station, which is about half an hour ride from kyoto station. The guestroom is fabulous and very big compared to many other hotels in japan, with lovely view of natural landscape nearby. Other than these, the beds are really comfortably as they are Sealy!

The hotel was great!”
We speak English as our native language and had little trouble understanding and being understood by the hotel staff. They were all very friendly and always ready to be of assistance. The rooms were as large as hotel rooms in America so we were quite pleased with the whole experience. The restaurants were extremely high priced though. You should be aware of that but other options are within walking distance. The beds are very firm but comfortable and the bathrooms are large. You get a full size bottle of shampoo and conditioner and body soap so need to bring it from home. Would do again!!!!

Dated but well maintained. Good size room with a view of a hill. Pretty surrounding area. ”
Close to train station. But not much to do around this area. No gym, no complimentary water. Good price. Very pleasant and helpful staff. Free baggage transfer to and from Kyoto is definitely a plus considering train to Kyoto is about 20 minutes from Hotel. Would stay here again.

Room was spacious and the beds very comfortable. Staff were very polite and helpful. Nice, quite location on a conference campus but only 20 mins metro ride into Kyoto Station. Beautiful views across the city to the mountains from the room.
