My family and I have stayed at the Grandvrio twice, once in the villas and once at the hotel. The public bath (sento) and buffet are great. They even have rentable, private karaoke rooms. Ishigaki can become rainy, and the indoor pool (and inflatable water slide) saved us on multiple days. There is no beach on site, but there are several within a short drive.

I give it a 90/100! We weren’t able to rent a car due to lack of inventory which made us totally dependent on taxis. They are easy to get from the hotel but the return taxis were tough to get by some of the far away sites. I suggest getting the paid breakfast Buffett. It’s very good. The beds were hard. Like concrete, but the hotel agreed to add a pad to the mattress which saved my back from breaking and saved the vacation. We would return again, but make sure that ordered a rental car months in advance. The hotels location a bit out of town makes it a necessity and the distance to downtown contributed to a slightly lower rating.

The Grandvrio is charming and delightful without ever exceeding expectations. Food is good, staff are friendly and the grounds are beautiful. There is a certain subtle charm to Ishigaki that is mirrored in this understated romantic hotel

Nice place but past its prime”
I would like to start on a positive note: the hotel has great amenities, they staff were fantastic, and the view is really something special. Beyond that, I would say this is a hotel that has seen better days and is not being properly serviced. As an addendum, I should note we stayed during one of Japan's many states of emergencies, which limited what was open and for how long. That said, a lot of things just didn't make sense. The hotel is quite a ways away from the city and airport, but they only offer shuttles at 11 and then at 3. So if you plan to fly out anytime between then, forget it. There was also limited options for purchasing food and drink throughout the day. Our room with an "ocean view" did have a nice view of any ocean, but also a decaying rooftop that doesn't look like it's been serviced in several decades. Our air conditioner was broken, as was a lamp, and the shower. The terrace was similarly a bit of a let-down, and seemed like it was more of an after thought for the hotel. We got a fairly good price because of the time and circumstances, but were I to return, I would consider other options nearby (the hotel directly to the west for example has much nicer facilities). I'm appreciative of the staff and enjoyed my experience, but I think the hotel management needs to invest more in maintenance and upkeep, and how to better meet the needs of its customers.

Was a great deal with the go-to travel. Beds are a little hard but was ok to sleep on. Also wishes there were screens on the balcony to let the ocean side breeze blow in.

Relax, superb sea view”
This price to get such room size, facilities and superb sea view every morning in JAPAN was really a bargain! The location was great, only 8mins drive to the city centre/ nearest Aeon and 15mins drive to Aeon Town. Although there's a bus 9 stop right outside the hotel and the hotel offered 6-7 slots of shuttle bus, it is more flexible to drive. There are about 200 free carpark spaces. There are plenty of facilities, such as table tennis, snooker, spa, swimming pool, hot spring, hot stone, DIY sessions, water spots, cultural performances every evenings etc. Outlying island tours also provided free pick up from this hotel. Breakfast buffet was surprisingly decent comparing to other hotels in Japan, with DIY noodle/ hotdog and burger stations etc. This is certainly a hotel u can stay for a week to chill and enjoy ishigaki!

Very Relaxing and Quiet Despite Large Size”
This was a very peaceful stay with a gorgeous view of the ocean. Slightly pricey but made my stay in ishigaki relaxing. Would recommend a rental car if you are stay here. The food is resort priced so I am certain you will want to drive into town for meals.

In fact, I had recorded my comment as I made two booking. Once more, this hotel is a must go hotel in Ishigaki. Just wanna complain that the outdoor pool was closed. I asked, hotel replied the pool was opened in Summer until the end of the October

A nice stay ”
My wife and I enjoyed the hotel and overall felt we would stay here again if the chance came again. The rooms were nice, but the hallways smelled of tobacco even though we were on a non-smoking floor. Additionally, the sento at the hotel was really nice, but not very big compared to the size of the hotel and can be overly crowded at certain times. The grounds next to the hotel were really nice and the dining area for breakfast offered a nice very of the grounds, too. Breakfasts were fairly good with a nice balance of western and Japanese food and overall the staff throughout the hotel were friendly. Also, each night there was a nice variety of live performances that were fun and a nice touch. The only down points really is that nothing really around the hotel and you need to drive to get to somewhere else. There is a very nice restaurant in walking distance, but it's very dark with no lights on the road, so walking back at night can be challenging. Also, the tile used at the hotel can be very slippery when wet and it rains a lot in Ishigaki.

nice staff and hotel in beach front location”
great quick stay. we stayed one night here and one at more modern/posh ANA. Both had their perks. Hot stone/onsen and pool were all nice at Grand Virio, as was the wonderful english speaking staff and service. We really appreciated fee airport shuttle which easily saved $40 taxi. Hotel was nice, a little worn/dated but nice bathroom upgrades, friendly and great launch point for beautiful Ishigaki!
