Amazing environment ”
This guesthouse is extremely well located in Ishigaki and the staff are really nice people. I stayed during 22 nights this summer and everyday I was able to meet new friendly guests in the common area and train my Japanese skills with them. Everything is clean and organized, making the environment very comfortable. If you’re looking for snorkeling tours (an experience that I really recommend), the owner also provide it with a discount for guests. In other words, I highly recommend staying here if you’re looking for a cheap, comfortable, well located and friendly staff guesthouse (some of them speak English) and also if your main focus is spending time exploring the remote islands or staying mostly outside in Ishigaki enjoying nature.

loved it”
Location is superb, rooms are nice (nothing too advanced but you get what you pay for and everything is clean and usable, it sure was good enough for me), the host and the employees were very nice people and if you want to do some snorkeling or diving you can book a tour at the host's tour company and get 10% off. You can also borrow bicycles for free and although they're a little old, they do the job. Oh and there is a rooftop terrace with hammocks to hang out or eat your breakfast (at least that's what I did). All in all five stars from me!

Exceptional”
The hostel was perfectly located and very affordable. The mattress on the top bunk was quite thin, but otherwise our stay here was comfortable. Staff were always friendly and helpful.

Great guest house in Ishigaki”
We stayed in two different rooms at Emix (this review is for the dorms). The room has three sets of comfortable bunk beds and there's enough space for your suitcase or backpack. The bathrooms are shared but they're right across the hall. The guesthouse is clean, it's a good place to meet other travelers, and it's in a good location just a couple blocks from the bus stop, restaurants and shopping. They have snorkels and bicycles that you can borrow, a washing machine, and several kitchens that you can use. Nao is a fantastic host and we had several barbecues on the rooftop terrace during our stay. We wouldn't stay anywhere else in Ishigaki!

Great guest house in Ishigaki”
We stayed in two different rooms at Emix (this review is for the Japanese-style tatami room). The room is large enough for three people and has a closet, a small TV, and large windows that let in ample light. The bathrooms are shared but they're right across the hall. Cheap, a bit worn, good location”
It was the cheapest option and located right in the center of town, 5min walk to port and airport bus, loads of food options and a conbini nearby. Best option for cheap stay in Ishigaki. Bed is however shaky and facilities overall a bit worn out, but that's what I expect for this price. Staff was friendly, however English is very limited.

Great place to stay!”
I have stayed here on two separate occasions and think it is the best place to stay in Ishigaki if you are backpacking and want to meet like minded people. The staff are friendly and helpful and one has even spent a few years abroad so has a good command of English. There are plenty of local eateries around (the owners even took me to a great place on my first night) and the boat pier is five mins away - great if you are day tripping to the surrounding islands. All up I can confidently say you will feel welcomed here and enjoy the relaxing and friendly atmosphere!

Best place in town”
This hostel is literally located at the main Street of ishigaki. The staff there are extremely friendly and helpful and speaks English. Beds are decent with lockable lockers. However, the owner have a cute dog, and if you are allergic to dogs this might cause a problem.

Great Location, cater to budget traveler”
Adv: -The hostel is situated in the public market of Ishigaki island. You can buy lots of affordable souvenirs there. -If you would like to practice Japanese language and make friends from different nations, this guesthouse suits you. -Save budget Disadv: -taking shower after 23:00 is prohibited. -Poor soundproof Other Advices: of all islands nearby Ishigaki, Taketomi island is the best one. (In case you don't have time to visit all islands, choose visiting Taketomi island)

Cool owner leads to great vibes, and excellent location too!”
Great staff makes for a great place to stay, and in this case, the owner makes this hostel awesome. He was a backpacker himself, and lived in different countries, so he knows what guests want and expect. Speaking excellent English is a bonus in this part of the world - he helped me book rental cars, tours, guesthouses in other islands. The facilities are nothing special, but they do the job. Showers and toilets on each floor, and kitchen on each floor as well. Places were kept clean all the time. There's always someone hanging out in the 3rd floor lounge, willing to start conversations even with the language barriers. In the evenings, there is inevitably a bottle or 5 of awamori being passed around. And if party goes past the 23:00 light out time, we move to the rooftop patio! Also, great location. Next to public market, and 5 minute walk to bus terminal and ferry terminal.

Comfortable stay”
Had a comfortable stay at the guest house. 2 minutes from the bus and ferry terminal. It's got a nice common area to meet other travellers (mostly Japanese). There was a sushi party on the first night I arrived. Staff are friendly but don't offer a lot of recommendations for things to do on the island (there isn't a lot to do other than water activities, really). Two free bicycles available for use was a great plus. Stayed in a dorm room which was clean enough, some long term guests staying there. Bathrooms were clean. Overall, a good stay and would come back.

Nice guesthouse with excellent location and staff”
We stayed here for few nights. We found that the room is pretty neat, small though, but everything is fully equipped, got the kitchen with microwave and stuff. Location is excellent, is just located inside the main shopping street and very nearby the ferry terminal. Staff service is perfect, we locked our key in our room on the last day, and the girl, who was still in sleeping condition, helped us to call her boss to come open the door for us. One downside for this guesthouse is that, all the rooms are very close to each other and sitting room is also. So you can hear everybody laughing and talking loudly. Not much privacy in this scenario. And some other guests look pretty weird. Fortunately, the rules for this guesthouse is that sitting room will be closed and all lights will be turned off after 11pm. So this is acceptable and with this price, it is worth to stay here for like 1, 2 nights.

Great value and fantastic social hostel”
I'll start by saying that it is not easy to find this place. The entrance is located in a shopping arcade and from the outside just looks like a door to a house. But if you look up, you can see the signs hanging from the wall above it. Once you do find it though, you'll realise how centrally located it is, and how much freedom you have while you stay. No curfew, and lots of facilities in the hostel make it a perfect place for backpackers or late-nighters. There is also free wifi so you can plan your next day's trip. I had a good experience and would go back again.

A very convenient hostel with a nice owner”
In addition to the very good location, each floor of the hostel is provided with a kitchen, which is rare in hostels. The owner Nao San is easygoing and friendly. Though sound proof is not good, most of the time the guests were cooperative and did not make much noise during my 4-night stay. Very satisfactory in general.

Nice guesthouse in very central location. Fast wifi. Lots of small hang out spaces and a friendly helpful host willing to join in with the guests. Kitchen available and shower hot.

Good location good facilities”
Walk to ferry terminal within 10 mins. Many restaurants and shops near the hostel. Very convenience. The staff is very nice. But a little bit noise at night. I stayed there on April. It doesn't matter about no air-conditioning in the room.
