Historic guest house full of charm”

Guest House Kobako is located on a quiet alley close to many temples and nearby Gion. The 100 year old house has been lovingly restored by the hosts Aki and Yuki. It is a traditional Japanese home, beautiful in its simplicity. The tatami room we had was spacious and comfortable. The shared kitchen is perfect to make a cup of tea or coffee after a long day of sightseeing. The hosts Aki and Yuki were extremely hospitable and helpful. They recommended several excellent restaurants and had good suggestions for sights to see. There are bikes for rent, which we took advantage of. This was a great way to see some of the city's gardens and temples. We have been travelling for almost 1 year, and this is our favourite accommodation by far.

Wonderful, absolutely wonderful - people don't get much lovelier than Yuki!”

What a great place to stay. It's a little out of the way from Ponto Cho but if you want to explore places like Fushimi Inari Taisha by bike, I couldn't recommend anywhere better. You will love Guest House Kobako from the moment you're first welcomed there. Take the bikes out too, it's an absolute bargain and a great way to explore such a beautiful city. Thank you again, Yuki!
