If you go to Nagano or the area around there, there is really no place other than here to enjoy your vacation. You have a homely feel and then the People here are amazing and really helpfull. So before you know it....it would be the best stay in Japan altogether.

Guest House Kura”

We enjoyed a great stay in Suzaka with a touch of traditional Japan. Marina was so hospitable and kind, providing us with lots of sightseeing and restaurant information. Despite the cold weather outside we felt warmly welcomed and the guesthouse had everything we needed. Would definitely return if given the opportunity.

wonderful service - beyond expectations!”

Staff, traditional experience, not the usual tourist experience

From the moment we arrived at Guest House Kura we felt like we were visiting a friend. Marina welcomed us warmly and helped us with advice - particularly with how to get to the Snow Monkey Park at Yudanaka, but also with other places within and outside the region. She even took us to a lovely local Onsen where it was apparent tourists are rare. That is the beauty of Suzaka - it is close to some great attractions such as Yudanaka and Nagano, and indeed has its own attractions, but is not at all touristy. Marina advised us on a restaurant to visit, giving us a note to the owner, and it was a unique experience with the owner/chef not only giving us an amazing meal but also playing traditional music and getting us to try the instruments. Guest House Kura is very clean and comfortable, has a kitchen guests can use, a little cafe with a Japanese breakfast on offer but what really sets it apart it Marina - it is hard to imagine a more welcoming host. Definitely worth staying away from Nagano for a more authentic experience of Japan. We hope to return to stay at Guest House Kura again.

Excellent”

This is one of the best hostel i have stayed in Japan. The host Marina is so friendly and helpful, giving warm feelings to guest. You will definitely have good options for local food and places to visit for your trip. Good accomodation in Japanese old styled wooden house and home-styled living room, together with seperate area of cafe seating area will let u feel relaxed. A low key must try one.
