Pros: 1. Location is great. Very near JR station (JR Umekoji-Kyotonishi) and bus stop (Umekoji). So if you are coming from Kyoto Station, you have 2 options on how to get to their location 2. Friendly staff and owner. When I checked-in, they even assisted me with my luggage. 3. Free breakfast Cons: 1. No elevator. So if you bring many luggage, it’s a bit difficult to bring to your designated room since its either on the 2nd or 3rd flr. But they assisted me when I checked-in so its okay in a way 2. I’m in a shared bedroom but I was not given a key to my room. So if in case I go out, I really need to bring my valuables (just to make sure)

The location of this guesthouse is great!! I was staying at the 4 beds female dorms and the air con wasn’t enough. It was really cold and on the days the temperatures dropped it was freezing. Also the walls are so thin you can hear everything. The owner is really nice and tries to help as much as he can with activities in the city

Mixed experience”
I had very interesting experiences while I was there. I remember them clearly even after having stayed here four months ago. Someone got arrested at this hostel because the shower/bathroom facilities don't really have a door to protect the women's bathroom with complete privacy. Therefore, there was a peeping tom the time I was staying there. Even when I saw the women's restroom for the first time, I had the revelation that men could easily walk into that bathroom if they wanted to. Of course, we try to believe the best in people but some others, like that peeping tom who got the police called on him, can take advantage. On the other hand, I was helped with my luggage up the stairs the first time I went in there by one of the female workers there. Thank you for that. However, at the very end of my stay, I kindly asked for help from the male worker there, and he didn't help me. My luggage wasn't going to take long to get down. It was just a quick minute. Therefore, I politely asked one of the guests to bring it down because it was heavy, and he offered to help me. How long did it take? Less than 30 seconds . . . The locks should have better security codes too, by the way. The privacy and security at this hostel aren't that great . . . On the plus side . . . there is one computer available upstairs for use. The hostel is nearby a station. It takes about three to five minutes on foot with luggage to get to it. There is a kotatsu upstairs and a full kitchen to use. Had some nice memories with some of the guests there, at least. A Komeda's Coffee is nearby the hostel too for a quick cuppa and something to eat, if you have never been there.

Warm welcome by friendly staff and charismatic owner who cares about his guests. just at the edge of center yet a quick walk, plus right next to train station for easy access around city. in addition, a big supermarket at the end of the street with discounts after 20:00! small but well-stocked kitchen and big frigerator. Comfy beds, clean washrooms. Mix of guests for fun to chatting!

For Indonesian travellers, please bring some Sambal Cabe for the owner. hehe. He really likes Sambal. This Guesthouse were so good. really near the bus stop. very quiet environment. and very clean. the staffs were so nice. thanks to mr. owner who lend me a room to take a Dhuhur pray even before the check in time. and also, thanks to mr. staff (sorry, i forgot to ask their names... T.T) for lending me the bike! :D

Pros: The guesthouse is located close to JR tambaguchi sta. and 1 minute walk from bus stop. They sends a "how to reach" guide which is very helpful. The owner is very friendly with good English. The facilities are clean and adequate, a good value for money. It was easy to socialize with fellow travelers too. Overall, I am very happy with my stay and definitely return. cons: The room I stayed was bit confined and Stairs to top floor could be a challenge with heavy luggage. Neither were a biggie for me though. No laundry facilities but you could easily find a coin laundry nearby. The lady staff who checked me in was not so cordial or welcoming, something we would expect with a first stay in Japan, but the owner and other staffs made up for it. Overall, i wont hesitate

Not that close to Kyoto Station”
Thought it was very close to Kyoto station, but not really. I had to commute and transit at the Kyoto Station (maybe coz I was not familiar with the bus route), especially after 9pm when the bus from downtown to the hostel stopped service. However, this hostel is really cheap. What could I ask for?!
