Your new family in Kyoto”
Upon arriving, we were greeted as if we were family coming to visit from afar. They were very happy to see us and hear about our journey there, and were genuinely interested in what we were going to do next on top of giving us recommendations and suggestions on where to go. They allowed us to check in early (10 am) and store our luggage which helped a lot. Everytime we arrived back home, they were always there to greet us with a smile and conversation on how our trip was. It really felt like the home away from home. Facilities wise, the rooms look incredible. Very clean, cozy, and comfy. They provide everything you need: towels, hair dryer, extension cord, kettle, tea, etc. The shared bathroom area is also very clean. Overall, if you stay in Kyoto, you HAVE to stay here if you want to feel a personal connection to the place. After 4 different hotels on my 10 day trip, this was the one that made me feel the most comfortable!

Will come back again.”
I got the cutest loft room with everything I needed plus the warm hospitality from Maki and Sim. The location was unbeatable as I could walk to Kiyomizu Dera and Gion. The bus stop was 300m away that can take you to either the upper side of Kyoto or the Kyoto JR station. In short, tho I spent most of my days there outside but I felt grounded whenever I came back from an exhausted day of travelling. Plus, both owners speak fluent English and Chinese which I was surprised.

Still our favorite in Japan!”
It was our first time in Japan and our itinerary includes Tokyo-Kyoto-Osaka. Still our favorite would be in Kyoto even if we stayed just for a night. We love our 'Ryokan'-inspired room. We literally have the small table, seat cushions, complete with a tea set. We have to push the table and cushions aside to make way for our futon beds. The futon is very comfortable as they provide double futons aside from the comforter. Bathroom, toilet and dining areas are shared Every thing is so clean! Bathroom is complete with soap, shampoo and conditioner. They also provide hair dryer and towels. In case you want to eat breakfast there, they can also prepare for only 500 Yen/ person. Wifi is also provided. The only downside would probably be the location. The closest bus stop is around 5-10 minutes walk away with downhill/uphill slope. We arrived to Kyoto from Tokyo via bus and we had to take a taxi cab to bring all our luggages. Overall, we still enjoyed our stay!

lovely guesthouse”
This guesthouse is in a very well located area to access many shrines and also for going out to dinner. The area is quiet which allows for a peaceful night sleep, but within a 15 minute walk you can access all of the restaurants in Gion. The room we stayed in was a typical Japanese style room where we were to make our own beds up. The shower and toilet areas were generally very clean and good. We did also make use of the breakfast on one day for 500 yen although it is quite basic and we preferred to eat out for breakfast instead. I would highly recommend staying at this guesthouse for easy access to kyoto city.

Sims Cosy lives up to its name”
Sims Cosy Guesthouse lives up to its name as it is really very cosy. Interior design and furniture arrangement are well planned, you dont feel squeezy/cramped despite the small floor area. Rooms and toilets are clean (toilets are a little small though). Owner (Singaporean who married a Japanese wife) speaks english and that helps a lot with our stay, directions and iternary planning. Owner and family members are all very friendly and helpful. Did not manage to try the meals but pricing seems reasonable and affordable. Rented bikes from Sims Cosy and it cost half of what it would have cost if rented from Kyoto Station.

Wonderful place.”
Sim-san and family are so accommodating and welcoming every visitor warmly with their great hospitality skills and effort.Nevertheless they extend their warm hospitality to the guest as tho they are part of their extend family. They were always there to help and give tips on travelling in kyoto and give the best advices and places to visit in kyoto. Anyone wants a local perspective of Kyoto, this the place to be in and to immerse with them.

Comfortable and lovely”
It's a guesthouse running by a Singaporean-Japanese family.I was really surprised that every staff can speak three languages(English,Japanese and Chinese) here, which will be very convenient to the guests all over the world. What's more, they are very friendly and sweet. They even will remind you the weather tomorrow and give suggestions to the schedule you made voluntarily. The time I spent here was really warm and lovely, and I will definitely recommend here to others.Thank you so much Guesthouse Soi!:)

Recommended for ppl who like japanese syle room”
The guesthouse is runs by a Singaporean owner and his Japanese wife, hence all their staff are able to speak well in English and Mandarin. The guesthouse's location is very good, only 1 to 2 bus stop away from Kiyomizudera Temple and many others attraction as well. The guesthouse was build up with old building part and a newly renovated part, rooms in old building part got some smells, but it's not really a big deal if you like the traditional japanese style room. They also offer the bicycle rent at a very reasonable price, a great place which you can meet and make friend with other countries ppl.

Excellent”
The receptionist/staff very helpful. She give us advice where to go first at Kyoto and find a cab for us because we are getting late to Osaka. You also can buy One day kyoto pass (600yen) at the guesthouse. The toilet very clean. But the nearest bus stop around 300m so you need to walk a bit. But its ok if you dont hv heavy luggage to carry around with. So i think its worth with the money. 👍🏻

Lovely little place”
Staff were friendly and helpful, whenever I popped back in. I came in late the and hardly spent much time enjoying the guest house there's so much to see in Kyoto. They had a white board of events which I would not have known about had they not written up. Also helped with dinner recommendations, how to get around and general conversation. I stayed in two different rooms and I was pleased with cleanliness and condition of rooms. The breakfast was good too and kept me fuelled as I went touring around the city. It's a little bit out of the way but I enjoyed the walk as coming back from Gion I could stop by Yasaka Shrine each night and just enjoy the lights without masses of people, there's a fair few temples nearby within walking distance so it's handy for that. I enjoyed my stay and would go back again.

Cozy”
I am a bad map reader. I missed at there. So, for the people just like me. Once you get off from the bus from Kyoto Station, please turn right (when you are facing the wall/shops/house) and walk to the traffic light at the T junction. Please turn right and walk straight once u turn right to the road at the T junction(the road opposite the convenient shop-Lawson). Walk uphill a bit for about 10 mins, the guesthouse is on your right side. The hostel is cozy as long as you don't mind the giant footsteps sound, chatting sound from other room or room banging sound. I don't mind because I can sleep easily and won't annoy by the voice once I sleep. The location is not bad. You can take the bus to Kyoto Station easily. And you can walk to Kiyomizu-Dera 清水寺.

This is really a warm and cozy guesthouse”
We arrived a little late, without further notice, but it was no problem at all. The room was a japanese style room, with tatami and futon. It was the budget room, but it was still very nice. When there was cleaning, we could have a peek into the other rooms and they were nice as well. They have a policy, that they only clean after the 4th day and they exchange then the towels. You can exchange them earlier for a small fee of 100yen. From a ecological viewpoint, i really recommend this, because at home you also don´t exchange your towels every day, at least I don´t. We took the breakfast every day, because it was nice to take it at the common room, if you want to say so. The breakfast is western style and buffet style. It basically consists of scrambled eggs, bacon, sausages, salad, toast, 3 types of jam, butter, coffee, milk, orange juice, cereals. The bacon, eggs and sausages are made fresh. They only prepare a little bit in advance, and if it's gone, they make it again. Quite nice. When you say, you want breakfast, you can choose at what time you want it, but i guess it's just for planning ahead. Sometimes they have special occassions, like a family dinner, where you can dine with the family. This is because the guesthouse is run by two families of which one has kids. So, if you want some japanese, chinese, malayan hospitality and a cozy atmosphere, I really recommend this guesthouse.

Comfy Japanese tatami room!”
Try the Japanese breakfast (500 yen of time of posting)! Wish this guesthouse provided free slippers, and would've liked if the shower stalls were more divided/sectioned off so that when you change into clothes your feet can dry off naturally.

Nicely managed guesthouse”
The owner & staff were very friendly & helpful. The guesthouse is basic but comfortable, and in many ways charming. Old wing may be noisy with thin walls.

Better than staying in a hotel”
The staff were very friendly and helpful. The most important thing is they could speak many languages fluently and there was no problem in communication at all. Frankly speaking, we thought it was better than staying in a hotel. The room was very clean and well designed to cater the needs of foreign visitors while providing an authentic experience at the same time.
