Traditional Japanese Experience”
On my recent ski trip to Hakuba I had the misfortune to catch the flu and became very ill. The people at the Shirouma-So took care of me including taking me to the doctor and pharmacy and bringing me food to my room. This was beyond my expectation for a hotel. The onsen, although open to public use, was very private. The hotel is located within walking distance of both the Hirayama lift and the Gondola, but there is also a shuttle bus. There are shoe lockers at the lift and the gondola. You can rent skiis on line but might actually be able to get a better price on the ground as there are lots of choices and you can bargain. For ski gear, recommend The Boarding Company near the train station. The prices are more reasonable than the shops near the slopes.

Very clean and helpful staff ”
We went there for snowboarding. Shirouma so is located right next to Happo One and is within 10 mins drive away from Goryu and 47. The staff there were incredibly helpful, providing us suggestions of places to go and what to do nearby. The room and the onsen are also clean and comfortable. Would definitely suggest this place if anyone is going to Hakuba.

Lovely well equipped Ryokan in Hakuba!”
The manager of the Ryokan was very warm and helpful. Most importantly, he could speak English pretty well hence for non japanese speaking tourists like myself, it was a breeze in communication. The Hakuba area is a very quiet and serene. The ryokan feels very luxurious and well maintained and the room facilities are quite complete. The ryokan also has an onsen (indoor) which is open daily in 2 different timings. Easy access!

Love Love Love this hotel!”
I had stayed in this hotel for 14 nights. And I had one of the best trip in my life in Hakuba. Not only overwhelmed by the superb snow but also by stay in this hotel. I love how it's family owned and it creates an intimate atmosphere. I love how the manager's mum, who's a chef comes out from the kitchen every morning to greet you. Not only that, there werer different breakfast available on different day of the week. So you won't get bored of their food. The hot spring- although it's a bit small compare to the other hot springs I've been to, it's one of the best because it's all natural. My skin feel really soft after my stay there. I love the fact that the free shuttle bus stop is only metres away from the hotel. So I don't have to carry my heavy skiis to walk miles to the snow.Love manager, had been so helpful to contact the ski field for me when I told him I lost my phone & ski goggles. Overall, it was an awesome experience and I'll definitely go back and stay with them!

Cultural immersion while skiing”
We really enjoyed staying at Shirouma-so and experiencing our first onsen and ryokan. Toshi and his staff are kind and patient despite having a busy ryokan.

Great hotel in the Japanese alps ”
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this hotel and would recommend it to others who are heading to hakuba for skiing. The ros are spacious, it has a nice onsen and the food was some of the best we had in our three weeks in japan. The staff are very friendly and accommodating, for instance it was no problem at all that I was a vegetarian and they easily catered for me in the complimentary Japanese breakfast.

The best meal in Japan”
My husband and I cannot talk highly enough of this Ryokan, particularly the cuisine served here. The ryokan is family operated and for dinner/breakfast the owner's mother would prepare the meal and come out to greet guest. I don't know what it is, the snow, the ambiance but my husband and I both agree that the meals at the ryokan were the best we had in Japan (we travelled to Toyko, Kyoto, Osaka - had omakase, etc). The stay itself was exceptional, we had a lovely view of the mountains where you can see skiers slide down and any snow coming down. Great location in the town. Back to food...we also took our friends to the ryokan who also agreed it was the best meal they've had in Japan. Do yourself a favour, come here to experience the real Japan - enjoy the snow, refuel your body with the most delicious meal, rejuvenate sore muscles in the hot spring and experience a traditional Japanese stay.

Pefect for a Japanese snow holiday!”
The staff at this Ryokan were brilliant, from picking us up from the station, to driving us to the local Sushi restaurant. They were helpful where ever they could be. Daily breakfast was a traditional Japenese meal. Location is perfect, a short walk from the base lifts on the mountain and walking distance from bars, restaurants and onsens. The in house Onsen was great for a soak after a day on the mountain.

Wonderful Experience !”
I am so glad I choose this place for my first ever ski trip back in Feb. The family that run this place was very helpful and showed me where to rent my gears nearby, etc. Location is perfect, close to bus terminal but away from the noise. The best part is you don't have to leave the premise for onsen, your muscles will thank you for that after a day of fun on the slopes. Thank you so much for making my trip a truly memorable one!

One night stay for a ski day”
We stayed over night to get in an early ski day the next morning. The staff is excellent, and the business is family owned. The owner offer us a ride to the ski rental, made sure we are able to use the onsen after our ski day, and provided very helpful advice. The accommodation conditions were high quality. The breakfast, included in the price, was healthy and tasty.

Very helpful and friendly staff, excellent service”
Location: good, ~5-10min walk to the nearest lift isn't bad. for those who likes close to ski-slope then this isn't your choice Rooms: good size, clean and comfortable, upper floor (3rd) good view of the mountains Onsen: public onsen is good, though we have been to nicer ones Service: can't praise their service enough, they are very helpful and friendly! Cons: we understand this isn't uncommon but we still found it a little bit inconvenient to have no private shower facilities attached to the room
