Where to stay in Hakuba
Hakuba hotels & accommodations

My fiance and I thoroughly enjoyed our 6 night stay at Sierra Resort, Hakuba as the staff were very attentive and friendly, and conversant in English. In particular, one of the Japanese ladies named Fumie was a great help to our stay as she ensured that our ski equipment was laid out for us each morning. In addition, the staff also helped remind us to make reservations...

My wife and I stayed in this hotel for 5 nights for a ski trip. This is an older hotel (like most of the mid range hotels in Hakuba), not extravagant, but is clean and homely. We took a Chuo Taxi from Narita which, after 5.5 hours, dropped us off directly at the hotel. Otherwise, one can drive or take a train to Hakuba Station or Nagano Station and get connections th...

The staffs at Oak Forest are so wonderful and helped me so many times even after I checked out from the hotel. I finally know what does above and beyond stand for! Long story short, Agoda messed up with my booking the hotel did everything they can to provide what I was trying to book via Agoda. Not just that, everytime when I had a problem they always try their best t...

We at stayed at the Tokyu hotel in Hakuba just over a week ago. We enjoyed our stay all in all. We had the included breakfast every day, it was pretty got with a balance of western and Japanese fare. We also tried the pub did and French restaurant. The pub food was pretty good (although quite expensive). The fresh food was even more expensive and nothing to write h...

Laforet Club Hotel Hakuba Happo is a really beautiful hotel. Though located away from the Happo bus terminal, it's free shuttle service and super friendly and English speaking staffs makes it all worth while. It's also within walking distances to many restaurants and convenience store so location really isn't an issue at all. Rooms are spacious (too spacious in fact) a...

We really liked Hotel Hakuba because of the breakfast. But do note breakfast only runs 7am-8.30am. There’s also onsen on site - both indoor and outdoor. Rooms were really nice and big - my group of 7 friends could gather within one room. There’s also a mini kitchen and you could ask for cooking equipments from the reception. All our rooms came with a mini balcony and a...

Fantastic hotel. Close to food, shops and Hakuba base camp bus stop. 7/11 and big supermarket about 20min stroll, smaller supermarket in Echoland a 2min walk. Beds are comfortable and a good sized room. Super friendly staff, will definitely be booking here again when we return.

It is a very good place to stay for skiing. Just a few minutes easy walk to Kokusai lift. At the entrance of the hotel you have conveniently the skiroom. Hot bath, perfect after a long day skiing! The room was super spacious (we were 2). With own sink and toilet (japanese style. western toilets were available on floor 2 and 3). Western breakfast nice with fresh bread r...

Great location right behind Hakuba Base Camp - easy to take shuttle buses. Great value for money! Right in Echoland so quite a few food options. The rooms were all big enough to house 3 people. 4 can probably fit but will be a bit tight. The toilets however, in all the rooms I booked, had a pretty bad smell.

This hotel exceedes my expectation. We stayed here for 2 nights. The owner is one of the nicest people we've met in Japan. He picked us up from Hakuba Station and drove us to Hakuba 47 the next day. He even taught us how to ski since it was our first time. We rented all the skiing gear from him and got lift passes for half the price! It was worth it and it saved us a l...

We travel a lot but usually never bother rating hotels as I am lazy. However, the staff at Mominoki was so helpful with my many silly requests that I feel they deserve that I let others know. Besides the great staff, we really liked the "comfort" type room. Room very big, bathroom very small, with a bathtub so small it is almost cute. Everything nice and clean. Bes...

My wife and I recently stayed at this hotel on a 4 day ski trip to Hakuba. It's well located near the major ski slopes and is only a short walk to various restaurants etc. It isn't brand new, but it's efficiently maintained and tidy and everything works fine. It caters well for westerners. The rooms are large and comfortable. The staff (Tak and the girls) are among the...

This is a very good place to stay in central Happo for skiing along the Hakuba Valley. Excellent facilities - ski storage, drying room, onsen etc). Wonderful staff who provided first class support, pick up from train station, wonderful breakfast, assistance with Taqbin etc. Very clean establishment as expected in Japan. Good heating. Ideal location close to shuttle bus...

This hotel is very worth the price we paid for. We did not expect the hotel to have Australian staff and management. So English speaking, recommend, information is completely make my trip wonderful. Room is very big, nice and cozy. Super clean. The room is big and the bed is very comfy and the comfort room is also very spacious. Shower and hot water is very flow, stro...

Pension Grace is great value for money if you book the dorm room. The place is clean, Wifi worked well and there's a cosy lounge area to hang out in. Kiyomi, Kone and Yumi are friendly and very willing to help with any request you have. There are two shuttle bus stops 2-3 minutes away, which was convenient, and Base Camp is a 7-minute walk away. Breakfast is basic (toa...

great location and great breakfast, however if you are a non smoker the amount of smoke in the lobby and the fact people smoke inside the hotel will bother you. rooms very small for 3 people and just one closet. maybe ok for a night or two, but cramped for a one week stay.

Stop your searching, you’ve found your accomodation for your hakuba holiday! First of all, my partner and I have never been hosted as well as what we did by Takao and his wife. He helped us by booking the private onsen just after we arrived, helped book restaurants and even drove us to night skiing and dinner one night when it was pouring rain. Takao alone should make...

The best thing about this hotel is the large room sizes, and its proximity to Happo Bus terminal which provides free buses to all Hakuba mountains.. Goyu, 47, Iwatake etc...For those content in skiing Happo-one, it's a stones throw from the Gondola. The lower level has plenty of room to chill out and grab a coffee and make use of the free WiFi. The hotel has its own ma...

It's a Japanese version of B & B with/without breakfast by your choice. The owner couple used to travel to many countries. They are very nice, pleasant, and friendly. The facilities are aging but clean. They have community toilets and a shower room. My husband and I went to nearby Onsen after activities. Easy access to restaurants in the area. We have favorite restaur...

There was no breakfast and the crew were always out snowboarding this is more like a airbnb than a hotel. Provided no toothbrush or toiletpaper. They even made me clean my own dishes when i borrowed there dish because they had no food. Worst this hotel was in the middle of nowhere so it took us 1 hour to get to the nearest convenience store. There was also bugs in the ...

We had a great time at Hakuba Cottage Gram. The owner of the cottage came to pick us up even though it was not part if the arrangement. She waited for us as our bus arrived late at Hakuba bus station. After checking into the cottage, she drove all of us to a little town for Ramen and Onsen, then picked us up at 5.3pm. Couldn't have asked for more. The owner's daughter,...

What can I say but the red door lodge is epic! Nic the owner and her trusty side kick James go out of their way to make you feel extremely welcome. Nothing is a problem for them. Nic is so cool I made her an honorary kiwi!!! The location is perfect. 5 to 10min walk to the best mountain in Hakuba valley or free shuttle right outside the door. The rooms are big, warm ...

We had an amazing time at Pension Airmail. The owners were lovely and incredibly helpful. Their English isn't great but they will make the effort to help. Our room was very spacious, warm and comfortable. Downstairs there was free tea, coffee & fruit. The location is great, the free shuttle buses for Goryu, Hakuba 47, Happo & Iwatake stop right outside. It only takes ...

My family of 5 had a wonderful stay at Allure during the last week of Dec 2015. The operator, Shane and his team - Glenn, James and Matt were all very warm and friendly, and always ready to help us on our transportation and restaurant reservation needs. The accommodation location is convenient as the Hakuba 47 shuttle bus stops right at the front, while the other shu...

I had stayed in this hotel for 14 nights. And I had one of the best trip in my life in Hakuba. Not only overwhelmed by the superb snow but also by stay in this hotel. I love how it's family owned and it creates an intimate atmosphere. I love how the manager's mum, who's a chef comes out from the kitchen every morning to greet you. Not only that, there werer different b...
Cheap places to stay in Hakuba

If you are into into the Japanese ski experience with included breakfast and dinner and an on site onsen, this is not your kind of place. If you don't mind the "time-share" feeling of making your own breakfast and possibly sharing a bathroom come here. The staff is amazing. The house is clean. The kitchen is fully supplied with cooking gear. And they have discount tick...

Clean, nice facilities. I like the location where the shuttle bus stop in front of you. It is good for people wanting to go Hakuba Goryu/47. Hakuba happo one will be a bit far but shuttle reach there too. Best part is 7 eleven is just 2 minutes walk from Hostel! I don't have to stock up food and can just walk to 7 Eleven and buy anything i need.

Pros: - The staff here is really nice. Gaspard who is the owner of the house is a man with service at heart. He will arrange things for you if you ask for. - The environment in the house really make people know and talk to each other. It’s a great place to learn from different culture Cons: - It’s a bit far from the Hakuba Happo center but the staff will arrange shut...

Yoko, the host was amazing. She did everything to make her guests feel at home, when I told her my ski goggles were fogging up she even leant me her goggles. The rooms were minimal but clean and tidy. Location was great, a 5 min walk to Adam gondola or 5 min walk to shuttle bus station. If I come back to hakuba, I'll definitely stay here again.

Our 4-night stay at Morino Lodge - Hakuba was truly fantastic. From the moment we arrived we were welcomed by very warm and friendly staff who took care of every need we had from breakfast in the morning, to recommendations for activities and restaurants, to rides whenever and wherever we needed to go. We immediately felt right at home and especially enjoyed hanging ...

Awesome place! Would give 10/5 stars if we could. All the staff, Declan, April, Brad and Jess were awesome, lots of fun, always very helpful and provided unreal service. Definitely added to our experience in hakuba by staying here. Facilities suited our needs perfectly. Would definitely go back and wouldn’t stay anywhere else.

The owner drove his car to pick us up at the station despite being busy with family matters. Hotel is located in a forested slope, quiet and peaceful environment. Room clean and comfortable. We were allowed to shower despite returning very late, after "curfew time". Wi-fi connection is strong and stable [better than many big hotels in Japan]. We were allowed to store o...

I stayed in this hotel for my off-season hike to shiroumadake, though there was no bus going to sarukura, the owner was kind enough to arranged a taxi for me. the room was pretty much basic, it got a laundry, public shower & public area. it's near to Lawson and happo bus terminal (going to and from shinjuku) I am going back here again for my next holiday to shiroumada...

Agoda did not list the company's phone number or check-in time but after contracting Agoda we were able to sort things out. Very friendly staff that can speak English fairly well. The hotel is very well located. It's close to the station and close to the bus station to get to the mountains. The room we stayed in had a shower and a Japanese style toilet. For the pric...

This little hostel was fantastic for a solo traveller staying for a week to do some snowboarding. It’s a little further away from town (so walking isn’t an option) but the buses are great once you figure it out (couple bus stops down the street for town and slopes) and the host Toshi was an absolute hero picking me up from town and driving me back in early several time...

This was our second stay at the Hakuba Pension Meteor. We have truly enjoyed staying there. The staff are very friendly and the environment is extremely homey and relaxing. The surrounding is beautiful and the local restaurants are excellent. We will definitely return!

We stayed one week at Panorama Sanso and had a wonderful Japanese experience. Check in & out processes were very smooth. The staff is great, helped us with everything. There is a great free onsen onsite. Dinner is available previous reservation, super yummy food. Great experience. Highly recommended!

Top notch accommodation in Hakuba on the main strip of Echoland. Easy to get to all the moutains and lots of restaurants quick walking distance. Check out Mockingbird or Bear's Cafe. The family that runs this property are very friendly and it is a very good place to simply relax and enjoy the beauty that Hakuba has to offer. Each morning, there is a breakfast that ...

We stayed here for 6 nights for a ski vacation. The pension is a typical Japanese bed and breakfast, in an older but very clean and well maintained house. It is extremely quiet and peaceful. The owners are extremely pleasant and helpful, and speak enough English to communicate requests and provide information. The hotel is situated close to shuttles, and connecting w...

Impeccable service, the owner was super friendly and helped us with restaurant bookings and ski gear hire. The hotel is an authentic Japanese style hotel with onsite hot spring. There are lots of ancient beautiful Japanese decorations throughout the hotel, and there is a snow gear drying room downstairs. The hotel is close to all amenities. I had a great time and w...

We were a group of three staying at Earl Grey. We came for the snow and were hoping for stormy days, but we had sunshine instead. Our host picked us up from the bus station and brought us back to our accommodation - a warm, large house with beautiful wood finishings. Hiroshi, our host, was very nice and generous, lending us dishes to use and driving us anywhere we nee...

Price: Noichigo is one of the most affordable lodging that you can find in Hakuba. So don't expect 5 stars in other areas (location, etc.) as that is not reasonable. Location: It is a 7 min walk from the accommodation to the nearest slope (Sakka slope). Sakka slope is also a common pick up point for many of the buses that run in the Hakuba Valley, including the buses...

Excellent staff who are very helpful. They offered us a free lift to our bus station when we left and helped us print a ski coupon. Location is great at about 2-3 minutes walk from Hakuba Goryu ski resort. Hotel provides free storage for our ski gears (not fully secured though). Overall great value considering that breakfast and use of the hotel's hot spring are includ...

A bit far from the train station or the restaurant if walking. The hotel is a bit old, and no internet. Nevertheless, the room is spacious, with private bathroom (seldom in Japan for this price). The staff was really helpful, especially regarding the transport.

Few minutes walk to Happo bus terminal and the bus stops to nearby ski resorts. The staff are nice and helpful. They help us sending luggage to the next hotel using TA-Q-BIN services. Japanese-style room is warm and clean. Although it said 'with shared bathroom', they also provide private toilet. The cat is so cute, he/she made this place lively like our home. This ry...

We stayed at the Big Apartments in a one bedroom studio and we were so pleased with the the quality and cleanliness of our room. Amazing service, kind and helpful staff. Lovely room, beautiful surroundings (in the woods), quiet place, beautifully furnished and decorated Franck Lloyd Wright Art Deco style.
