"Didnt have high expectation on it as from the photo shown, the rooms look old. However when we arrived, we were satisfied with our room, especially the toilet. Since we have chosen to have share bathroom, we didnt expect much of the toilet. However, the toilet looks absolutely clean and great. Besides, the breakfast was really good. Appreciate that. The downside is the price, it is expensive to stay but this is still the cheapest to stay among all. If you are a budget traveller wishing to spend a night in Hallstatt, I would recommend this place."

"Seehotel Gruner Baum is situated in the centre of Hallstatt. To get to Hallstatt, we took the train to Hallstatt station, which is situated across the lake (Hallstattersee), and then took the ferry to Hallstatt village. The Seehotel is only one minute walk from the ferry, and faces right onto the village square. We booked a double room facing the lake, and the view was superb. Hallstatt is World Heritage listed and many daytrippers visit the village daily, but to do it justice I think you need 2 nights to see the attractions, which we did. The trouble was that we visited the place in mid-April when many of the attraciotns were not yet open (they open mostly from late April to September), so we did not get to visit many of the attractions. The only criticism of the Seehotel is that it does not have a lift, which meant climbing four flights of staris to get to our room - good exercise, but the waiter also acted as the porter to get our suitacases to the room, which helped as we travelled with two relatively big and heavy suitcases."

"Nice lake view from our room. Nice breakfast, cosy room. Just right beside Hallstatt lake and have a tranquil view of lake at night. Avoid big luggages as you need to carry it upstairs (a few storeys, narrow staircase). Bathroom is a bit small though."

"A bit far from the port and go up the hill (just a little) ,but the location is still easy to find and 5-8mins walk from the port only. Apart from the room with nice view, I would also recommend the restaurant in the hotel, that's not many choices in Hallstatt, but I think the prices and the food are reasonable. "
