Great place to stay! ”
Staff couldn't have been more friendly and helpful. Really nice building in traditional Japanese style. Futons comfortable. Walls quite thin but is to be expected with this style of building. Good location 15 mins from train station. Great value. Would recommend

Thomas traveling from US”
If you are wanting to stay in a more tradition style hotel, this is a great place. The staff were extremely gracious, kind and helpful. The location is great. The facilities are very rustic but clean, with air condition. It is worth the experience for one who usually stays in a modern hotel.

Good stay”
Location is good, buses nearby. Room has no shower room, only toilet which is not very convenient. The building is well maintained for 100 years old building.

Old Japan style”
I've never stayed in a hotel like it. Apparently is 100 years old. I loved the Japanese style room and the whole look and feel of the place. The facilities are not the best, this is not five star, for that, go somewhere else. Come here for the atmosphere. The cost is reasonable. The staff were nice. The free porridge breakfast was good too.

Great price for location in Kyoto”
Many good points about this place: 1. Prime location, about 15mins walk to Kyoto station and Aeon mall 2. Quiet safe neighbourhood, with a combini next door 3. Contactless stay but adequate instructions- depends whether you like it or not but I enjoyed the solitude. Also, I appreciate the free room upgrade! 4. Bath towel, soap and yukata provided 5. Lovely quaint town house but well-decorated Cons: 1. Not the cleanest, found some hair in my sheets and room 2. There was suppose to be porridge in the morning but I was greeted with an empty pot.. there was free coffee and tea though

Passable for a one-night stay”
Stayed here for a night with two friends, but there were only two futons in the room. There was a kotatsu which was a pleasant surprise. No toilet nor shower in the room, you’ll have to use a shared one downstairs. The room itself was soundproof enough, but very bare bones like there’s not even a tv in it. Location was a bit difficult to find and not near to any notable landmarks. There’s free drinks and lots of books to read at the shared dining space. There’s no reception counter, but the number provided answered my call at 10pm in English, which is greatly appreciated here especially. Overall, for just a one-night stay with the homies it’s decent enough.

Experince a Kyoto traditional house”
It's about 15~20 minutes walking distance from Kyoto station. Located in an alley, Hostel Haruya "Aqua", "Book" and "Terrace" are very close. I stayed in "Terrace", and the reception is in "Book", customers are free to use all the communal areas in the three buildings. Free instant coffee and tea are provided. The receptionists were very helpful and gave an detailed map of Kyoto city. The 6-beded female dorm room is kinda small with just little space. Since it'a wooden building, sound proof is not good for sure, it might be an issue for some light sleepers. But, the price is reasonable and worth to try how it is like to stay in an one-hundred-year-old Kyoto traditional house!

Exceptional”
All of the Hostel Haruya locations are actually together and if you're booked into one, you have access to the common areas of the others, which is pretty nice. Staff was super helpful, spoke English, and gave some good advice. They can watch luggage both before check in and after check out. Showers had soaps and were nice, if few. Sleeping accommodations can take getting used to but location was phenomenal. Right at a corner for several bus stops and a ten minute walk from Kyoto station.

This Ryokan hostel is loooove”
I did not stay at the conventional room since I booked a dorm type room. But, this hostel is really beautiful. Yes, you can hear the sounds of the footsteps and even people talking but it's because of the thin walls of the renovated ryokan house. You can walk from Kyoto Station to the hostel (i love walking) maybe about 20mins, or u can opt to ride a bus. Ministop, Kyoto Aquarium are walking distance from the hostel. This hostel was really nice and I loved that I met other solo travellers there too. But what I loved most about this hostel was the service of the staff. Aww Japanese are so polite!! I forgot the name of the hostel staff (Aika?) she was very helpful to me. They also recommended an Onsen to me and I was delighted that I tried it!! Thankyou and I will be back again next time 😁Kyoto is looooove :)
