I have to say I really really like Higurashi-Sou Guest House. The staff was so nice, and it is no problem to talk with English. This house is very Japanese style. When I lived in there, I saw a book on the bookshelf called 昨夜のカレー、明日のパン. I read this TV series before. This house let me remember this drama and I was so excited that I AM LIVING IN THIS WONDERFUL HOUSE It sounds I am crazy but I really like here. Next time I travel to Kyoto I will visit again !

Walking distance to Nijo train station”
My best stay in Kyoto. And the owners were very nice and helpful. We had a pleasant stay in this guest house. We could have stayed for one more night but we had to try the capsule for the next night. Would recommend this to anyone those without kids as this place needs peace and quiet.

Great experience in staying”
This guest house meets my expectation of Japanese aged building. It's been redecorated , therefore, it's convenient in staying in the house and using the bathroom. Kids though the house was like a maze; they had great fun at exploring it. The location is near the NIJOJO castle, and little faraway the downtown， but there's a bus stop nearby.

The guest house located in a very quiet residential area but bus stop and the famous “Nijo Castle” are within 5 mins' walk from the house. There‘s also a big supermarket nearby. The host is so nice，rooms are neat and cozy. Thanks for having us two days and it is definitely a place worth to stay.

Wonderful stay”
This is a beautiful old Japanese house with a lovely garden ideal for those who wish to experience the spirit of old Japan. Very close to city centre the accommodation also provide bicycles (500 yen) which is very convenient and cheaper than renting bikes elsewhere. Overall we both really enjoyed our stay!

Very good value traditional guesthouse ”
We had a lovely stay, from the beautiful rooms to the lovely quiet area and relaxed and helpful staff. You have to be a little quiet due to the thin walls but I think that is the case in all guesthouses of this style and at least it is peaceful! Everything was clean and very cute. Coudl have done with one more bathroom at times but it's not a problem if you get up at the right time! Super good value and I would definitely recommend staying here.

Was a ok Japanese place ”
It was a lovely place but the stair going up is quite steep and easy to fall if not careful. Also, you have to make up your own bed to put the sheets together which was a bit challenging after spending all day out. Nonetheless, it was a lovely house and the staff was very friendly helping out on outbound bus booking etc.

So traditional, like homestay ... We shared bathroom n also toilet with others. We needed to borrow stuffs fr hotel and it provided great experience. I will go bak here next time! Staff is so frdly, she even asked me where i wud like to go and gave me so detailed routine. And she speaks english really really well!

The room was nice and very comfortable for living. There is bathtub available. Only one thing to complain is that there is no laundromat machine provided while I saw that in the description but there are laundromat shop nearby. So it is not a big problem.

Pretty house near transport”
Good basic stay. Can leave food in shared fridge, old style house which is pretty. You are expected to make up your own bed with sheets and take them off the bed when you go. Japenese futon style mattresses on floor. Lady at reception speaks good English and knows area around house well. Koyoto is worth a visit!

Nice experience of traditional Japanese style house ”
It located in a quiet neighborhood, staff is friendly and helpful. They have heater and provide hot water bottle for your bed so it is very warm in a winter night. The only downside is that the heater is a kerosene heater so the smell is a bit strong when it’s operating.
