The staff were extremely friendly, kind and helpful. They gave us tips for our itinerary as well as places to eat in Takayama. We were especially touched when they even tried to help us dry our shoes after we were caught in a heavy rain. Room and facilities were clean and comfortable. Highly recommend this hostel to those planning to visit Takayama!

Warm & cozy stay”
Located within quiet residential area, approx. 10 mins walk from takayama Station. Love the architecture of this Japanese wooden house, giving us the sense of home. The host, Tako San & his mother were very friendly and helpful, they speak good English. One of our travelmate fell sick during the trip, the host was generous to allow him to rest and check out later, we really appreciate that, arigato gozaimasu! This is a great recommendation by a friend who stayed here before, will definitely stay here if we visit takayama again.

Great stay”
We really enjoyed our stay at this hostel, which is an easy 5 minutes walk from Takayama station. Our double room was very comfortable and clean, just like the rest of the hostel (toilets, showers, common areas). We did appreciate talking to the family running this place: they were very kind and friendly, giving us tips about the city and other useful suggestions. We totally recommend this place.

Very quite and comfortable ”
It located in a residential area which is around 5 min walk from JR Takayama Station/Nohi bus centre, it is very quite in the night thus I had a very good sleep there. The owner and his mum are very friendly and helped me a lot with sightseeing information and transportation and restaurant. they speak good English so we had a nice chat, thanks !

Excellent”
The place is new, very nice and warm, just like Taku and his Mom. They have free coffee, tea and basic kitchen appliances should you need to use it. Our room is spacious good, simple neat and clean (and cute because it looks like a traditional japanese room). The location is around 5 minutes walk from the Takayama station and very easy to find. Also, they can speak English very well which made it easy for us to communicate. This place is highly recommended for anyone who value their money and want to experience legit japanese hospitality. Excellent hospitality ”
The hostel is located less than 10 mins walk from train station. We booked a private room which turn out to have a nice views facing the garden and roadside. The host are very friendly and helpful. They gave us a map that shows all the nearby amenities. Highly recommended for budget travellers.

Excellent experience”
Pros: This place is a great option if on a budget. It is simple and clean. The family is helpful and kind. They have many suggestions and maps to accommodate your needs. We even learned how to make origami from them! Overall, this place is awesome. Con: The only con I have is that the bed was quite hard and made it difficult for me to sleep. However, having lived in Japan, I have noticed this is often the case at most places. The location is close enough to the old town area that you can walk. About 10-15min.

One of the best place I have ever stayed ”
The location was quite good, within walking distance from the train station. There's also an AEON Mall and several convenience stores nearby. The place itself is so beautiful. Clean, modern and yet still "Japanese". The shared bathroom are kept spotless and the common area is great because there's a fridge and stove so you can cook your own meals if you want to. The host is a great guy who went through our itinerary with us and helped us check on bus timings.

Charming spot”
We were there for the autumn matsuri. While the entire town was packed full of travellers, we revelled in being close enough to the action but far enough away to be quiet and comfortable. Taku was really one of the most helpful hosts we've ever stayed with. Highly recommended.
