The guesthouse is very accessible as it is just a few walk to bus stops to and from Kyoto Station.. just across the street are Daiso, Uniqlo and Life supermarket where you can buy anything you need (food, clothes and other stuff).. plus, at each end of the street, around 300-400mts, you will find Family Mart.. the place is so cozy -- the common area is like you're really in a Japanese house where you will sit on the floor with cushion, low tables and you can get along with other guests from different countries. We stayed at the 1 0 bunk beds room which we found small for us since we had huge luggages for a 7-day stay, but the beds are comfy.. the shower room and toilets are well maintained. Also, the staff, Kanako, Yuta and the others are so helpful esp for directions.. overall, it was indeed a great experience at Guest House Wasabi Kyoto Soba! Highly recommendable! I feel like made a successful choice to book this hostel. staffs working were really nice and kind. thank you for greeting me kindly! the room and bathroom, shower booth was clean, and has simple shower supplies. but a few thing uncomfortable were that private space is not wide so I had to put my luggage in another room and the bedroom was a little bit cold. except these things, the hostel was really good. Also the hostel has tea, some snacks for free and you can also use microwave. I'd like to reserve this hostel when I travel to kyoto again someday.

Nice hostel in Kyoto! It has a traditional Japanese vibe dining room, bathing room, and garden in back of the hostel. Staffs are friendly. The facility is complete and clean. The hostel also located near bus stop and can be accessed directly from kyoto station by using bus 50. Definitely will recommend this hostel for another budget traveller

Clean hostel with a character”
Location was a bit tricky. So coming from Omiya station there is bus that stops in front of the hostel (bus number 50) which u can also take from Kyoto station. The room, free drinks and cookies were just more than enough to make me wanna stay looooonger! Also, there is a nearby grocery store and family mart. Plus the hostel serves awesome food! You get to try wearing a kimono for free as well! The bed, toilet and bath were clean! The staff were all helpful. Will stay again when i come back!!!!

The best thing of this hostel is the fact that is made out of an old Japanese house. So in the common area you sit on floor at tables. Staff is friendly and helpful, they like to spend time with their guest. Rooms are small but comfortable, there are a lot of shower rooms and they also have a japanese bathroom if you want to relax in the tub. They serve a small breakfast, nothing special, but they also have a bar to buy food and drink at reasonable price: so if you feel like stay in the hostel and spend time with people that's the way to go.

I think I got a really good offert for this hostel, cause the price was really good and the hostel is amazing. The breakfast was really good, you can have miso soup, tea and coffee at any time. The facilities are really clean and beautiful. The only thing is that is a little bit far away from downtown area, but if you want to go to arashiyama or kinkakuji is a good option cause you can even get there walking. I loved this hostel, totally reccommended

Pros +Bus stop right in front of hostel, about 30 minutes to Kyoto Station +Cosy place, bunk beds with curtain for privacy +Shower and laundry equipments +Daiso and Uniqlo across the street for your travel needs. Also Family Mart Cons +Little storage space. Reconsider if you have multiple large suitcases in group. +Curfew. But then again Kyoto pretty much shuts down around 8pm so it worked out? It's a relaxing place abit off center from the main attractions but you can pretty much go anywhere with bus. Staffs are very accomodating. You can get anything you need from the counter or the shops across the street. I can't quite write a negative that I feel strongly about. If anything, going anywhere requires 30 minutes buffer if you make Kyoto Station as your center point, so consider that in your itinerary. Since absolutely everywhere gets super crowded if you go out late. Good place overall.

Amazing accommodation with super friendly and helpful staff! One of the best guesthouses I stayed at. They help you get around the city, there's freebies (unlimited miso soup and coffee,tea!) and superb facilities. Traditional but very modern building, clean and beautiful. I stayed in the 3 bed tatami room, very comfortable. When you are in Kyoto, stay here!

A bit far from the station and tourist atractions”
A bit far from the station and tourist attractions, but well connected by frequent busses which we didn't know about before the arrival. the room had only tatamis and futons, no table, no tv, no bin, very basic, which is a bit Spartan for the price. Also the walls are paper thin so you can hear everything. However the hostel inner garden is amazing and gives this it a lot of charm and a real traditional old ryokan atmosphere. There is also a Japanese hot bath which is a plus!

Very nice but no space for luggage in the dorm”
I book there because I love the wasabi guesthouse in Osaka. Here you will meet the same standards (free tea, coffee, miso, fridge, soap and shampoo, stylish common room etc... ) But beds are clustered in the room without space for luggage nor even you if not fit. No space under the bed either. Breakfast is not worthy.

The prices are obscenely cheap for what amounts to a very pleasant stay. You won't get a lot of privacy, but if you're like me - a tourist just looking for a place to drop your bags and sleep - this is an incredibly good deal.

A cute and lovely hotel with good price, and all the staff is nice. A special shower room behind the living room surprised me a little because i had an onsen there. Recommendation for traditional Japanese tatami house.

the place is located at a street in which we can find a bus stop, uniqlo and daisho in front of the hostel. the staff are friendly and helpful. their services are good. we can feel a traditional japan ambience at the hostel. it's so nice and clean, feel at home. though the place is not a very big one but the facilities are good.

Basic hostel. Breakfast was standard but it's nice not having to worry about it. There is a bus stop right in front of the hostel which can take you to most tourist destinations. Also nearby is a Family Mart, Daiso, and a Uniqlo!

The place is great, all new, super clean, bar with reasonable prices, friendly stuff, easy to find. Just general japanese problem - rooms are too small and the strickt check out at 10 am when you not even allowed to stay in the common area after that time is a bit harsh.
