Hostels in Jakarta

"I have traveled Asia for close to two years now, and I have yet to find a place that meets all of my expectations--this one nailed them, all of them. The common area(s)--which are a big deal for me--were so cozy and filled with energy. The first common area is downstairs and is where everybody hangs out. It is where you can make dozens of friends and learn all about Indonesia very quickly--it is also where the pool table and big screen TV is (which is loaded with new movies!) The other sits upstairs, unbothered by noise and traffic. The choice is yours at any given moment. I occupied both in equal respects of time. The showers were hot, and although the water is not treated, I did not really care--you may though. The wifi was the best I have ever used. It was so fast that I could stream videos uninterrupted from anywhere in the building. The dorm was comfortable, but keep in mind that it is a dorm and not a private room: the noise will always be there. If you are going to pass through Jakarta, stay here. The staff can answer any question you have and help you make it through Java, Bali, and Lombok!"

"I stayed in two different kinds of room, first the four-person dorm and later the single deluxe room. The room though not big has a free locker with you can stash your baggage and also a rental locker with lock. The toilet is fairly clean though the hairdryer and soap dispenser did not work in level 3’s public toilet. The single deluxe room also has a slight damp odor. Location wise it’s perfect for travelers arriving or departing Jakarta using the train, with Gambir Station just ten minutes walk away. Gondangdia Station is about three minutes away and you can ride it to Manggarai and transfer to the airport rail link. The hostel is also not far from the National Monument, National Gallery of Indonesia, and the shopping district near the city hall."

"Sleepy Raccoon Hostel is one of the best place that I would strongly recommend for your stay in Jakarta Location Near to convenience stores and street food day & night. It also got a award winning Shanghai Dumpling restaurant just 3mins walking from the hostel. From the hostel, you can go to nearby attraction like Ancol ( a Seaside ThemePark) with very beautiful sunset and restaurant. Or you can take a train from Mangga Besar ( 10mins walk from the hostel ) to go to Jakarta Old Town. Best staff The staff are very helpful & resourceful. A few of them can also converse in English. Value for money It is very nice to stay in this hostel. The place is maintain well in cleanliness. The locker to put your staff are also big Sleepy Raccoon, thanks for your hard work. Keep it up. You have done a good job. Will definitely stay in Sleepy Raccoon the next time I am in Jakarta "

"The room is really really really small. It's a cabin but full furnished so that it is so full to drop some bags and difficult to move. The bathroom is small but well functioned and clean. The TV channel is dominant by local. Air conditioner is too cold. The room is noisy because it's not full covered by stone wall. It is suitable for short stay or transit but not for long stay because there's no window inside the room."
