Guesthouse rather than Hotel”
Enjoyable. Would have welcomes a small flat-screen TV in my room.

Had hoped for a better experience”
We had decided to stay in Abel Pension as the reviews sounded as though the reception would be welcoming and gave us the impression it would be more like staying with a family than at an anonymous hotel. However, we stayed for 5 days and the only time we saw someone who seemed to be an owner was when we arrived and only for 5 minutes. At breakfast time there was only a surly server who was busy with getting food organised and the rest of the time we didn't see anyone. Granted, we weren't often in, but had expected to have a bit more of a personal service. The rooms were bare but functional (and spacious). The hot water didn't work well. Also for a place that advertised itself as a romantic location, the double bed was two twins pushed together, which is understandable but there were two twin duvets as well, which was odd and didn't comply well with a 'romantic' holiday. Breakfast was standard continental fare, nothing special but not bad. I didn't mind the short tram ride from the centre of town and liked the quietness of the street, but wouldn't come again and can't say that I would recommend it to my friends.

A gracious mansion in the heart of Old Buda”
Pension Abel allows ordinary people to feel like old-world aristocrats for a few days, with carved woodwork, high ceilings, white plaster and a breakfast room out of Edwardian times. It is also within reasonable walking distance of most major historical attractions in the city, such as Gellert and Castle Hills, the Liberty Bridge, and the Great Market Hall.

Old-world charm with modern conveniences”
We had only three days in Budapest and the staff of Abel Pension helped us to make the most of them with a lovely home base and faultless service despite our complete lack of Hungarian.

Quiet old hotel”
Even though i booked and paied through agoda, I was asked to pay again in cash! A quater to nine, no hot water for tea at breakfast..Waited. Finally, hot water was refilled at exact nine o'clock, but at same time I was asked to leave breakfast as breakfast finishes at nine.
