Excellent hotel in one of Munichs Worst Streets ”
This is a fantastic hotel and is extremely close to the Hauptbhanhof Train Station. The staff are spectacular and the room was clean and comfortable. Wifi worked well and we had a fabulous breakfast. There Is, however, one BIG but. This hotel is located in the red light district of Munich. There are hooker bars and table dancing bars the whole way from the station to the hotel, with some of the dodgiest looking people I've ever seen. There were people begging everywhere, cripples dragging themselves along the street, I was grabbed by a huge beggar and almost bowled over by an angry stripper chasing a customer down the road. I could feel I was being watched and I was scared. This unfortunately took away from our experience at hotel Astor. Munich is a magical place and in hindsight I should have paid a little more for a hotel in a better area where we felt we could open our windows and not clutch onto our possessions every time we left the hotel. This hotel is fabulous value for money if you don't mind the location, and I highly recommend you take the breakfast - it was dreamy

Hotel Astor - Munich”
If you do not mind a few night clubs in the area, the Astor Hotel is very well located. Munich central train station is about 3 blocks away. Plenty of public transportation (including the Lufthansa bus to Munich airport) is available from this station. Marienplatz and other tourist attractions are within walking distance. Standard rooms are compact, but nicely decorated. Bathroom amenities are OK. In some ways, this property is more 3-stars than the 4 stars under its registry. Any small disappointments will quickly fade when you consider the 5-star breakfast and the excellent value for money. As long as you do not let your children wander the area unaccompanied at night, you will probably be very pleased with this hotel.

Decent place to stay in city center ”
friendly staff, affordable breakfasts with various treats, rooms are really clean, there was also a little complementary Haribo pack on the pillows once we checked in :) Location is pretty good, you can get to Hauptbahnhof by feet in just under 15 minutes On a downside, there was no conditioning in our room so we had to keep windows open during the night - there are a lot of night-clubs on the same street just near the hotel, so there is really lot of movement and noise in the street at night, keep that in mind if you're easily distracted from your sleep

Great value for this hotel”
We had low expectation for this hotel and we ended up being beyond surprised. The hotel is only 10min walk away from the city center and the parking garage for the car is only 10 Euro per day, they even allowed us to park there the next day while we explored the city even though check-out was at 11am. The rooms were really clean and well equipped with little extras like hand lotion, a sewing kit, dryer, iron board and an iron, etc. The bathroom is small but not more than a regular European bathroom. The bed was really comfortable and the room also had a desk and a nice TV. Honestly, this hotel is a gem and at a great price.

Good, cheap hotel near central station”
The hotel is just 200 away from the main station, so you can go there on foot even with heavy suitcases. The road like all the streets around the main city center stations is full of immigrants and casinos. The hotel is old but some renovation has been done in the rooms. Our room (205) was just opposite the breakfast room and had a window facing the road, which originally frightened us for the noise. But by closing the window you did not hear anything. The room was large enough, much larger than the rooms of other hotels for professionals, for example. H2, clean, bathroom small but functional, changing towels and cleaning everyday. Essential that this had aircondition adjustable from the room. The courteous staff gave us the room straight away although we arrived early before 9am. We did not get breakfast because we are on a diet and on the other hand there are infinite choices from the outside. Please note that there is an empty fridge in the room where you can put everything you want. There is a coffee machine and a water cooler at the reception. Generally, for those who go out in the morning to explore the city and return only to sleep, this hotel is a good and inexpensive choice.

Very good”
This is a decent hotel, not expensive but with reasonable facilities and pleasant staff. However, the big selling point is location - only 5/6 minutes walk from the main station, 20 minutes on foot to Marienplatz and close to some very decent restaurants - Schillerbrau which is across the road is excellent. If and when I return to Munich, I will be happy to stay here again

superb quality close to Hbf”
This is a very well maintained hotel whose exterior belies its quality. The hotel is a 10 minute walk from the Hauptbanhof and is in what looks like a dodgy red light district. Stepping inside though and you might be in some quiet avenue. The furnishings are tasteful and look new. The staff are excellent, speak a number of languages well and are very keen to help. We loved our stay there. Five stars.

Very good”
The staff was very friendly and accommodating. The location was great in relation to the main tourist sites. It's a few minutes walk away from the city hall clock. However, it is located in a shady area. I would not have felt comfortable walking outside the hotel at night by myself. I felt uneasy at times even with my husband. The room was clean, but there was a smell of smoke. I think the smell came from the bathroom vent. The cleaning service was alright. Some cups we had used were left there. A towel we used and put on the couch was left there. The room was small but good for the price. I thought our stay was fine for what we paid.

Very good”
The hotel is in a great location which is only a few minutes walk from Munich main station and is in a walk distance to the old town. The room decoration is simple and neat. Please be noticed that the sound insulation of the room is not so good and it is quite noisy at night.

Nice for a short stay”
Close to the central train station but the surrounding area is a little on the rough side. Short walk to other central attractions. Staff were incredibly friendly and deserve six stars! Very polite and helpful with directions. Room was clean, comfortable and quiet.

Exceptional”
Great hotel and well worth the price. The location was a surprise in a negative way. There are lots of weirdos and prostitution around...

Cheap but pleasant stay”
Decent size room, with a large (for a single) soft bed. Hotel was 5 min walk from Hbf station, and although the neighborhood isn't great (kind of red light ish) it was really close to karlsplatz and metro stations. I would stay here again easily.

Hotel Astor Munich”
My stay was short but very nice. The hotel was very nice, everything was nice quality and the staff were friendly and very helpful. The only bad point of the whole experience was the location. The hotel is situated on a street with lots of strip clubs and it felt like it was in a rough part of town. Nothing I couldn't handle but personally I wouldn't like to stay amongst that for more than a couple of days.

Good”
I was assigned a loft room on the 6/F that the lift can't reach. No usb charging port. The rubbish bin in the toilet was not emptied when I first checked in. Staff was merely functional but nothing beyond. The neighbourhood was filled with refugees. Felt like living in a 90's hostel in general. Really close to the Hauptbahnhof though.

Everything's good Price is reasonable! But just a little bit noisy and stuffy as there is no air conditioning. If u want to open the window it will be a bit noisy.

Not bad”
Staff were friendly, there for Oktoberfest so overpriced of course, beds were comfy, I suggest bringing your own pillow if you don't want a sore neck, wifi didn't work most of time in room.

Pretty good 3 Star hotel that is close to Oktoberfest”
Pros: about 15 min walk to Oktoberfest, clean and comfy bed, good amount of closet space and drawers, great blow dryer, clean water station. Cons: no AC, housekeeping starts asking if you want your room cleaned at 8 am every hour, staff isn’t friendly, fairly busy street with lots of stripclubs nearby Overall I would probably not stay again but it was a good option for Oktoberfest
