the location is in the center between Shin-Imamiya nankai and JR Imamiya, 5-10 minutes walk to Don Quijote and Spa World, and subway as well. Price is cheap, the room is small, hotel is old but clean. I got room with window view to the front street. It is very nice. If you are a budget, this one is quite good.

Too dirty”

First, its difficult to locate the place. There are lots of homeless people in the area and as a female solo traveller, i didnt feel safe. The room smelled cigarette even after I open the window, its also dirty. The toilet also is, maybe bec its an old facility. With that condition, i stayed for like 2 hrs and booked another hotel. Told the receptionist that im checking out and the look on his face seemed like he knew i was dismayed. Not worth it, esp for female solo travellers.

Good budget hotel”

Location is perfect. Near shin imamiya station. The staff were nice. Rates are budget friendly

We stayed for 3 nights in japanese style room. It wasn't that big but it's perfect for one person. The pillow was quite interesting because if you feel it by hand it has hard beads inside, but if you lay your head down on the pillow, it's quite comfortable. It's a few minute walk from shin imamiya station, after you alight the train from the airport.just go down stairs, you'll see sun hotel beside the station, just cross the street and head straight, then turn left on the 2nd street. It's not that difficult to find. Though we did see homeless people around, but they're harmless. We arrived ariund 11pm, i thought we're going to have a problem. But they accomodated us and confirmed our booking. I recommend the japanese style room if you plan to stay there. We only paid 400-500 dollars per person for 3 nights. It's a pretty good deal. Bathrooms are shared though. But it isnt a problem because they are never crowded and they're pretty clean. They also dont have a curfew, so you don't have to worry about getting back late. It's really a good deal.

Clean hotel, bad location”

Close to train station, budget friendly, early check in

My first impression was the staff was very nice. I moved to this hotel because I changed the plan and I was just gonna ask to leave the suitcase til I came back. The staff let me check in right away (9.30am). Nice! When I came back late at night I didn't realize it would be a shady area. Lots of homeless along the way! Also inside the hotel is pretty dark and gloomy. If you're a girl: restrooms and a shower room is on 6th fl. If you're a man there are also restroom, but no shower room. You have to use he public bath nearby. Female restroom was always clean and not too crowded by the way. If you're solo female traveller I do not recommend this place, or if you want to stay here to save the budget make sure you come back before 10 pm. Homeless people didn't do any harm, but better safe than sorry.

Very good”

The place is in the Nishinari ward which is considered to be the slums of Japan. So there's a lot of homeless people around and I will let you guess who those shady guys wearing sunglasses are. The hotel is actually what japanese people call a "doya" and are cheap sleeping place used by day laborers. So expect a really funny mix of people inside the building ranging from long term resident to bag packers. The staff is really nice and speak a surprisingly good english compared to what you can expect from the rest of japan. The building is really old but you can see it's being cleaned daily. The room size is decent for the price and the bathroom and shower is shared. The cleanliness of your room depends on your luck and how much the previous residents smoked inside. I must say I was unlucky and it smelled bad. Unless you re looking for trouble Nishinari is still safe for western standards and I would recommend staying few days in this place just to experience a totally different atmosphere of Japan. If you wish to escape the Shin Imamiya station is 5 mins by foot anyway. I wouldn't recommend this place for a family or a group though.

Neither better nor worse than what I expected ”

After reading other reviews I already knew that the area what be a little different. I did not mind it at all and actually enjoyed staying here since you get a different insight into the city. The room was alright. What frustrated me was that you had to pay for the stove ( although just 10yen/10minutes) and that it wouldn't really heat up. So the "kitchen" which is in the same room as the toilets is not really a kitchen. Overall, it was worth its price.

Communal toilet at each floor . Very clean shower room & toilet for female at 6th floor but with only 1 shower room. Room facilities (refrigerator, TV, Small table, futon, pillow) are good but could have been improved as the furniture looks quite old. Still love it as the price is so cheap compare to other hotel of the same kind.

Room is old and smell. Shot time to check out, they asked to check out between 7-9 am., if late, even minite is needs to pay the extra money. Staff can speak English quite well. For Female stay alone does not recommend. I feel uncomfortable with the location of hotel...It just my feeling. A lot of homeless and man are walk aroud, less woman in this area as I observed. Even hotel staffs were friedly, but I still feel unsecure a bit for stay over night. Lady shower room is clean but they have only one room.

Clean, cheap and strategically located

I only stayed there for one night, but it was a good stay. Everything works well, including the heater in the room. This is particularly important because it was winter time. The thing that I particularly like about this hotel is the "special" ladies rest room and bath room, which are well maintained and clean.

The best thing was the price.

I had never seen so many homeless people as in the area around the hotel! I don't believe it's a dangerous area, though. The hotel has 7 floors but, as far as I understood, only one shower for all the rooms. They provide tickets to a public bath nearby. I know it's very traditional and all but I prefered to use the one shower instead.
