Very good”
It’s right next to omiya station, 2mins walk. It is a quieter area compared to the shopping area (Shijo-dori). If you want to shop, better to stay nearer shijo-dori to save time walking or taking the subway. Bus is crowded. Good for family who wants to have a public bath provided by hotel. (Gender separate) and experience to sleep in traditional futon. Room can sleep up to 5 but maybe squeeze. 3-4 is probably ideal. Coffee maker is provided in the room. It’s more like a 3 star hotel.

Thank you for your review. Japanese-style rooms and large public baths are very popular. We look forward to seeing you again.
Clean Hotel and Great Staff”
Room is spacious but the location is a bit far from Kyoto Station . Hotel is surrounded by convenience stores and near to train station (Omiya station).

Very comfortable stay in Kyoto Village Hotel”
We came from a 4-day stay in Osaka (took the train from Osaka to Kyoto). We arrived in Kyoto in the afternoon and found Hotel Village Kyoto just a few minutes walk across the train station. We, of course had to ask a few people on the street for directions but there was also a police station near by that directed us to the hotel. The room we got was a Japanese style room for 3 pax and it was a good size for a hotel in Japan! We fit comfortably with all 3 of our luggage. My 14 year old son enjoyed the Japanese style beds on the floor and we all enjoyed the VOD (video on demand) room offer (for 1000 Yen), relaxing and watching movies late at night after a full day of touring. The hotel front desk staff (her name Amara) was very helpful in helping us with our itinerary for the day. Giving us helpful tips in what to see and how to get there. Although the only down side is that there is no wifi available in the rooms. We had to go to the lobby to get online. All in all, a great and very comfortable stay in Kyoto!

Best Japanese style accomodation we stayed at”
My family comprising of 4 adults found the Kyoto Village very comfortable and we agreed that this was the best accommodation we stayed at in our Japan holiday. We recommend this hotel for Japanese style accommodation. For those people who are unsure of trying Japanese style hotels the Kyoto Village will not let them down. This hotel is ideal for families who are looking for accommodation in Kyoto. Close to 2 Subways, buses to tourist areas pass the front door, taxis out the front Walk down the street to many shops and eateries Only down side was that there was not a JR station nearby but the two subways took you to JR stations. However we found that a taxi for 4 to Kyoto Station was barely above the flag fall and therefore not much more than 4 subway tickets anyway.

Awesome!”
Great location: 2 blocks from Train & Randem line. Surrounded by Family Mart & 7-Eleven. Restaurants nearby. Japanese executive room were perfect for family of 5 (Grandma + 2 kids under 10). We got the breakfast & it was the Best decision Ever!!! Everyday was a different Japanese Bento, you get the local flavors & it was So much food that we just need to get a late afternoon snack - to hold us over till dinner. The best part was the public bath - which is included in the price! It was awesome to relax after a Long day of walking! Never seen my kids SO excited to take a bath Everyday! LOL!!! Be advised, you are Not allow to use the public bath IF you have a tatoo. When we asked the kids what was the best part of the Kyoto trip, it would be 1) Monkey Park & 2) Village Kyoto! We will definately be back there!

Nice hotel in terms of value of money and location”
I stay in Hotel Village Kyoto with 2 of my girlfriends, we chose the Japanese style room. It is indeed very spacious for 3 person, including all of our luggage. The room is very comfortable! All staff are very helpful, location of the hotel is very convenient, less than a min work to the subway station, and there are several convenient store and a mid-size supermarket nearby as well! Definitely a good choice with reasonable price!! And also, the public shower area as well as the hot spring is nice too!

exceptional!!!”
my husband and I were very glad to have booked this hotel. it was our first time to experience a tatami room, and we were very lucky to book hotel village Kyoto. the hotel is very clean, spacious. enough for 2-3 big suitcases. very clean toilet, complete with toiletries.. the area is very accessible to train stations. randem station is within the vicinity, there's a 1 day randem train for only 500 yen, you can already access a lot of tourist spots by randem train. a lot of food stalls and restaurant around the area. talking about good food, there's a lot around the area. clean bedsheets and pillowcases. staffs were accommodating and helpful. I would definitely stay in this hotel again..:)

Second time at this wonderful hotel”
This was my second time in 2 years travelling to Japan - Osaka and Kyoto - and I couldn't think of a better hotel to stay at. The hotel is conveniently located near a train station, and it is also accessible by bus. In fact, you can travel to most tourist destination in Kyoto via bus at the bus stops near the hotel - this is one of the reasons why I enjoy staying at this hotel. The rooms are Japanese-style rooms with a modern touch. The rooms are clean and spacious enough for 4 adults, and the futons and beddings are exceptionally comfortable. The is also an indoor onsen in the hotel which is open throughout the night. The only downside to this hotel is that the TV does not have any international channels, so you may need to depend on your phones / iPads to watch international shows. I hope the hotel look into this feedback and provides international channels like HBO for travellers in future. I would recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Kyoto.

Japanese-style room, fun and cozy”
Hotel Village Kyoto is a modern hotel, located somewhat centrally in Kyoto. The city's train system as a whole is a bit inefficient, so bus lines were the best way to navigate to and from the hotel. The staff is friendly and efficient. The room was unique - a tatami floor with two zebra print chairs that fold into beds. When you're ready to sleep, all the bedding is in the closet and you make up your own bed. My friend and I both were pleasantly surprised at how comfortable the beds were. TV is free but movies on demand cost a one-time fee of 1,000 yen (~$10). There is a japanese-style public bath for guests on the first floor, but each room has its own decently-sized bathroom and tub. For breakfast you can choose one of three options and it will be delivered to your room at the time of your choosing - a free perk! The room also had a nice guide showing the bus lines nearby and which attractions they'd take you to. All in all, it was a great stay and value for two weekend visitors.

Fantastic hotel, " very welcoming"”
Our stay in Hotel Village Kyoto was fantastic, it was a real insight into Japanese culture. The staff could not of been more friendly, and enjoyed talking to my young children. The room was very clean and comfortable, and it was our first experience of sleeping on a futon. "We slept well" Location wise it was perfect for visiting the local sights and we found it very easy to catch a bus from just along the street.

Great location and fantastic service.”
we thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the hotel village kyoto. the hotel is located in a central area, easily accessible to the city centre and kyoto attractions. we had a japanese style room which was most comfortable. would stay and recommend this hotel without doubt.

The Village”
We stayed at Hotel Village Kyoto for 5 nights in their smallest room. That being said, we had more than enough room and the beds were super comfy. The room itself was really cute. We never ate the breakfast, it wasn't overly impressive. The bathroom was nice and the public bath was really relaxing (apart from the public nudity, I didn't dig it). The best way to get to the Hotel is to make your way to Omiya subway station from Kyoto, then when you get to street level walk towards the 7/11, continue past the 7/11 on the main street and you'll find the hotel on your right directly opposite the Family Mart.

Reasonably priced and Very Comfortable Too!”
We enjoyed our experience at the Kyoto Village hotel. The hotel employees could not have been nicer. We managed to communicate despite the lack of a common language! The hotel is close to many bus routes which made sight seeing very easy. We had plenty of room for our family of four. My kids loved sleeping on futons in a tatami mat room.

excellent location”
The location is superb, close to the train station, you can come here directly from Osaka without changing to another station, the hotel is just located 2 minutes walk away from the station. The Rendan train (which will take you to Arashiyama, the bamboo forest) is located just opposite to the hotel. Post office 5 minutes walk away, a few convenient stores are around the hotel. Not many restaurants around to choose from, there are some small ramen places. The room, though, was amazingly big for 4 of us. The futons were comfortable, the room large enough for 4 people, with small shower and toilet separated within the room. They deliver your preferred choice of breakfast at your preferred time (the choice was western or Japanese breakast) to your room. They also have bicycles for rental (I found this very convenient) you could ride to everywhere nearby, we took our bicycle to Gion, Pontocho, to the castles and back. Kyoto is small, you could visit everywhere with bicycle, highly recommended to rent one. make sure you reserve to rent one the night before, sometimes they do run out of bicycles for rent.

Hotel Village Kyoto stay May 2009”
We stay 3 nights at the Hotel Village in Kyoto the end of May 2009. The room we had was a Japanese style for 5 people and there were three of us. The futon beds and bedding made for a good nights rest. We especially enjoyed the splendor of the public baths which were beautifully done. During our stay we took advantage of the laundry facilities. We would stay at this hotel again. It was reasonably prices. FYI - The cab ride from the train station was about 1,100 yen

hotel village kyoto”
This is the best place I have stayed in in Kyoto - and I've been there many times. It is relatively new. The decor is tasteful, and the place is well maintained throughout. The rooms, though small by western standards, are fine by Japanese standards. Bedding is very comfortable, and those unfamiliar with futons are shown how to set out the bedding. There is a choice of boxed breakfasts - Japanese style breakfast or sandwiches. Tea and coffee are provided in the room. There is a fridge. a kettle and a microwave in the room. There is a convenience store on the corner to buy snacks. The location is great- about 30 minutes walk from the station, next to a subway station and to several bus stops. It is an easy walk or bus ride - straight along the man road - to Yasaka jinja and a bus shopping area. One useful item might be to provide a list of buses to the main tourist attractions - staff are helpful and give the information when asked but a list would be useful for newcomers to Kyoto.

Great hotel experience!”
This hotel was very clean and extremely convenient to trains. The staff organized our room exactly to our request on the Agoda order...with the specific amount of tatami mats for our family. Although it may not be an "official" privately owned Ryokan in a house, this small hotel-version was perfect and we loved it! We really enjoyed the indoor onsen - very clean and very hot. The complimentary Japanese breakfast was delivered on time to our room and I was impressed. If you do not want to have a Japanese breakfast, they have an international option too. We only had 2 days (1 night) in Kyoto and wished we had a longer visit. It is a charming town. We especially enjoyed our sunset walk along the river and our walk through Gion in the early evening...and, yes, we did see a few Geisha!

Hotel Village Kyoto”
The hotel was only 1000 yen taxi from Kyoto main train station. Once we got our bearings we found 2 train stations within a block so good for getting around. Fun to walk around the streets just exploring and a reasonably short walk to some of the major sights. There are good restauraunts in the area - favorite for lunch or dinner is spicy noodles and pork - exit hotel and turn right and go down a block or two. Lots of grocery stores and a seven eleven with an ATM that services overseas bank cards. Room is clean and fun, enough room for 3 of us, love the heated mirror, fast free internet, breakfast was good and staff were friendly and helpful. Did not try the communal baths.

Nice stop in Kyoto”
Pros - room was small but comfortable. Some wear and tear on the furniture is evident, but rooms are kept clean. Public bath on 1/F was nice. Location is very convenient for tourists, very close to the Randen station and Hankyu line to Osaka. Not on the main Kyoto subway lines, but the front desk sells bus passes, which we thought was an easier way to get around Kyoto with small kids. Plenty of restaurants and convenience stores around. Cons - no restaurant and front desk is not 24 hours. Not that convenient to Kyoto main station if that matters to you. Overall, I recommend this hotel and would consider staying again if I was travelling in Kyoto with young kids.

Excellent!”
We stayed in hotels in Osaka, Kyoto and Tokyo and this was by far our favourite hotel! Our room was clean and spacious with excellent amenities. The traditional beds were comfy and there was spare pillows/duvets in the wardrobe if needed. Our bathroom was huge with 2 separate rooms (1 was a toilet and the other was a shower). In the morning we had the option of a western breakfast or a traditional Japanese breakfast which was a bento box. Wish we could have stayed for longer!
