      We stayed here twice in the twin rooms. Love the minimalist style and quiet. Communal bath is nice at end of a cold day. Staff are friendly and helpful. Breakfast was sufficient but cold last time so we skipped it this time and opted for food from the family mart just next door. Great location to explore Takayama.

      Great staff but very noisy ”

      Really lovely helpful staff at this property. The 2 major downsides to note are that the soundproofing is terrible and noise carries terribly. The beds are also VERY hard and while Japanese beds are generally harder than Australian ones, these beds were hard by Japanese standards.

      Amazing hospitality ”

      I absolutely loved the gentleman who was serving the free drinks at the lounge in the evening, as well as serving breakfast the next morning. He was so kind. The mattress, which i thought initially would be too firm, was actually very comfortable (it's made by Airweave). They do have a mattress pad available, upon request/availability. I ended up having a very restful night. Also, love that they have popsicles/ice cream after you've finished up at the bathhouse. That and nice cups for tea were all very nice touches.

      The hotel was clean, near the main attractions, quite a walk from the JR station, so those with heavy luggages, take note: the sidewalk is not smooth, (some have a pebble-like surface), so it might be a challenge to push your luggage. Might be better to just leave your luggage at the station or just wear a backpack. Aji No Yohei nearby was also good. Will recommend the hotel.

      It’s beeeeest hotel in Takayama.”

      From the time I checked in, I asked the hotel staff for the restaurant recommended by the hotel staff. The hotel staff enthusiastically recommended the restaurant to me. The next day I was going to Kyoto, but I didn’t make a reservation for the bus. Another hotel staff helped me check the timetable of JR and the bus very carefully. , and even drove us to the station for free, fearing that we would get lost or miss the train. In the future, we will never stay in any other hotel except the wood hotel when we come to Takayama. Highly recommended! ! ! !

      Clean and well furnished hotel . Provide laundry capsules and have a paid laundromat which is so convenient. 10mins walk from takayama station. Would love to know the brand of laundry capsule that they are using ! It smells great! :)
