Great value onsen hotel by the train station”
Location is great if u r travelling by train. Just 10 mins walk from the station (bear in mind that the terrain between the hotel and train station is not flat, you would still be able to drag ur luggage on the wheels) Onsen is a bit dated but there is an outdoor onsen and indoor ones. The onsen water is not clear, there r some particles & sand floating in the water. Not too sure whether is it more traditional / natural way of onsen or is it not cleaned properly. Otherwise, the onsen is great. Room is very spacious just like a typical Japanese ryokan. Ample of heating (centralised + additional external ones r provided as I believe it could get quite cold in the peak of winter). The room sleeps 4 but I've got the room to myself. Food and convenience store r just 10 mins walk away as its quite centrally located. There is also a restaurant in the building. There r also other onsens tat u can frequent by foot. If you r visiting the snow monkey park, just get onto the bus next to the train station (literally same building), but u have to pay for the ride unless u have bought a pass or something. Check out the opening and closing times as well as bus schedule. The tourist info centre is also at the train station.

Hot spring was big.

Very good”
Inexpensive and a good location. If you're looking for a bed and a good night's sleep you should be fine. I'll stay there again when in the area for business and alone.

Location close to Yudanaka Station”
The hotel is dated and the entire hotel is in need of updating. It had a very old onsen but I didn’t feel relaxed at all. The staff members are very helpful and accommodating. Our Japanese style room was large and clean. Complimentary shuttle to see the snow monkeys’ park. From the park it’s 15-20mins to Shibu Onsen and another 20mins back to the hotel.

Very good”
Hotel bit dated but Staff are so helpful and nice. We get to use the Onsen unlimited FOC which was an added point. They provided free transportation to Snow Monkey Mountain as well.

Great in-hotel onsen, very big room, really friendly staff”
It's walking distance from Yudanaka Station. Upon reaching the hotel, it's a bit old. At night, it seems empty like you won't see any people and it looks like what horror stories are made of BUT it makes up for a lot of things. The room we got was so spacious and comfy. Their in-hotel onsen is clean and had several baths. It's free for guests but outsiders can pay to use it which is why it is nice, not the typical in-hotel public baths. There's a shuttle to monkey park every morning. The man at the reception is super friendly and nice! We wanted to book this again for our last night in Nagano but unfortunately it was booked out.

Great Value "Ryokan Hotel" in Ideal Location!”
The good: 1) 4-5 minutes walk from the Yudanaka train station 2) Very large & clean room 3) Room already heated upon arrival 4) Comfortable tatami for a good night's sleep (even with my wife's sensitive back) 5) Free (nearly) 24-hours onsen in the hotel 6) You have to take your shoes off & wear hotel provided slippers all around the hotel so the hotel's quite clean 7) Ideal location to get to Snow Monkey Park, Ryuoo Ski Park & Shibu Onsen 8) Great price 9) Friendly & helpful staffs The bad: 1) Hotel definitely dated but well maintained so didn't bother us 2) Wifi in the room sometimes unstable 3) Most staffs' English not good

Nicest people ever”
I went out to Yudanaka with my sister about 3 days after Typhoon Lin hit. First of all, we got in about an hour later than I had originally guessed (10pm) and I was nervous we wouldn't be able to check in and everything would be closed (a lot of places I'd looked at online before the trip had strict checkin times). This was not the case. The man at the front desk had waited for us and had everything prepared for probably the fastest checkin I've ever experienced. The room was already setup with the traditional mats and I fell asleep instantly! FYI for those who are thinking about a traditional room but are nervous, those futon mats are super comfortable and both my sister and I slept amazingly there. Secondly, because of the typhoon just days earlier, the monkey park was closed down due to mudslides. During check-in, the man at the front desk let us know that they still hadn't opened it back up to the public. The next morning at breakfast (sidenote: it is a pretty good spread), front desk man (sorry, I wish I remembered his name) actively sought my sister and I out to tell us they reopened the park that morning! He then brought us a map and gave us instructions on the best ways to get to and from the park. At the train station, he helped us figure out the taxi to get up to the park (1800 yen total). Honestly, this was well above and beyond. The front desk people were so nice and so helpful. I would recommend the ryokan just based on them! The hotel and rooms were worth the stay on their own. Together, the hotel/rooms and staff, made this my favorite place to stay my entire trip. I didn't use the onsen (because I can't bring myself to go in them or public baths generally) but, I heard good things from others staying there. For those going to the monkey park - we took a taxi up (split between a different couple, we only paid 900 yen) and then walked back (downhill and maybe took us 50 minutes at a strolling and frequent photography taking speed).

Hotel Yudanaka!”
I am reviewing Hotel Yudanaka, because I read a bad review before my stay, and almost cancelled. I am glad I didn't. Hotel Yudanaka is a really old hotel, so if you like 5* new, this may not be the hotel for you. However, if you want a 'real' Japanese experience, I recommend it and I ended up liking it a lot. People from all over the village go to the hotel to use their hot spring baths - its really good. There is also a little restaurant/bar downstairs, and I think they brew their own beer - it is usually busy and the food was great. 5 mins away is the train station and a convenience store. There is a free transfer bus to and from the ski fields. Everyone is friendly and everything works. I would stay there again!

Nice hotel with superb onsen”
Hotel Yudanaka is a nice hotel with superb onsen. The location is closed to Yudanaka station where you can transfer to many sightseeing places. A guest room is in Japanese style with very comfortable feeling. Japanese style breakfast is also great. The hotel even serve all guests with a free shulttle bus to visit Yamanouchi snow monkey town at nine o'clock. The best of all is free onsens available for all guests. I love this hotel...

Really nice”
They take you for free to the Monkey Park. The breakfast is Japanese style but with a big variety of options (we're vegetarian and we had plenty). There's a good restaurant inside the hotel with very reasonable prices. It's close to Yudanaka station, but the streets get slippery in winter so if you have luggage you have to take a taxi anyway (¥700). The room was really big and warm!

Nice hotel”
Had a pleasant stay at Yudanaka Hotel. The hotel service was great. What I like about this hotel, it’s a ryokan style, spacious room for 2, only 2mins walk to Yudanaka Station and Lawson konbini. Definitely will stay here again next time.

Quiet and relaxing”
My wife and I spent two nights at the Hotel Yudanaka in late April. I was there for the Nagano Marathon and wanted a nice spa and place I could relax. This hotel exceeded our expectations. We loved the spa, appreciated the staff and really enjoyed the elderly Japanese ladies who were running the restaurant. It was close to the Monkey Park which we wanted to visit and is situated in a beautiful mountain location. Also, the Japanese buffet breakfast was fantastic!

Great option for staying in Yudanaka to visit hot springs and snow monkeys!”
This hotel went above and beyond for me staying in Yudanaka for the night. The hotel allows you free access to their hot springs (split male/female), which plenty of people pay to come to use. The hotel staff also gave us a free car ride up to the snow monkey location (when bus far is about USD $3/person.

The hotel is only 5 minutes walk from Yudanaka Station. The onsen is quite and the owner gave us a ride to snow monkey park. I went there for skiing at Ryuoo Ski Park. There is a free shuttle from Yudanaka.
