I booked this 4 star hotel before it opened in June with a discounted price. It was such a great experience since the hotel provides great location (very close to Kyoto station), helpful staff (some of them are Caucasian) and spacious and clean rooms. We had three rooms booked. The Caucasian lady was confused by the last names so one room got upgraded to Hollywood Twin. It was a very nice suite with separate shower and toilet. The bed was very comfy and it did help with the sleep after walking for nearly 20k steps every day. The lobby has strong AC so it felt really good in the hot summer (~40 degree). This was my best hotel experience in Japan although it was more than what I normally pay for accommodations.

It's a brand new 5 star hotel (opened in September 2017). The location is just perfect for us as we had gotten the hotel to make most of our restaurants reservations, mostly around the GION district area. Quite a number of sightseeing places (famous Shrines & Temples) are within walking distance. It is especially good for us as we can walk off the calories after our lunch and before heading back to hotel to freshen up and then for dinner. The room size is pretty good and everything is so new and clean.. even the hotel smells good too! Room rate is considered reasonable given the high rates in most hotels in Kyoto. Overall,we are happy and satisfied with the stay at Celestine Kyoto Gion. The only problem (not big though) is you have to be rather patience with the staff if communicating in English with them. Anyway, will definitely stay at this hotel again.

Hotel Miyako is just outside Kyoto train station & it's very convenient to shops, bus & train systems. We travelled on JR pass from Namba, Osaka after 10am (after morning peak) and arrive at Kyoto within 60 mins. Hotel check in is after 2pm so we drop our luggage and visited Fushimi-Inari and Arashiyma (Monkey park and bamboo forest). Both Fushimi Inari and Saga-Arashiyama stations are on JR line so it quite handy. Umbrella is provided for hotel patron if you ask. The second day we use the JR line to get to Nara & in the evening we drop by to visit Kyoto Skywalk. It's also very convenient to get to Osaka, Hiroshima and Miyajima from here. Price wise it's a lot cheaper compare to Tokyo or downtown Kyoto. Furthermore the room size is much bigger compare Osaka & Tokyo. The hotel room is sound proof and you don't get to hear your neighbour! Staff is very helpful and it's highly recommended for JR pass holder!

Nice location, just a couple of hundred meters from Kyoto Station. Near shopping mall and restaurants. CoCo ICHIBANYA (Japanese style curry rice chain restaurant) just across the hotel. The room is a bit tight, but that’s not unusual for a hotel in Japan. Very clean and efficient space arrangement. Friendly English speaking staff. They even provide coin laundry machine so guests can do self service laundry. They provide free shuttle bus to some of the main attractions such as Fushimi Inari Taisha, Arashiyama, etc that you can ride if you register the night before your scheduled itinerary. Overall a very pleasant stay. Would love to stay there again if I Have a chance to go back to Kyoto.

This stay was part of a mini-honeymoon; my wife and I got married earlier in the day. We were given a room on the top floor with great views, and all of the staff were very attentive. We used the hotel as a base for sightseeing and shopping. It's about five minutes' walk to Kyoto station, which is the central hub for just about everything worth seeing. I had been to Kyoto a few times before, so I chose this hotel primarily because of the location. We were about 15 minutes away from Fushimi-inari and Kiyomizudera, and we also walked to Kawaramachi Shopping Street. There is so much in between that the long walk seems shorter. The room was really nice, with internet, cable and more bathroom amenities than you would probably expect. No coffee though, which was a surprise. Overall, a good hotel if you absolutely need to be near Kyoto Station.

The moment we arrived at the hotel we were pleasently suprised. Modern and relaxing was the first impression we got. The welcome drinks were a great surprise (sake violet is highly recommended). The staff were pleasant and welcoming to us. Location was perfect - 5 minute walk from the train station and we even walked to a tour of the Fushimi Inari Shrine from the hotel. We only stayed 2 nights in Kyoto but would have happily stayed longer.

Great location next to Kyoto station with JR lines. About 45 minutes to arashiyama, 10 minutes to Inari, and 50 minutes each for Osaka and Nara. Great place to stay if you plan on visiting all of the usual tourist areas in the region. Word of warning for travelers not used to the size of Japanese hotels, the rooms are small and if you pick double beds like I did it may be a squeeze. That said the size is normal for Japan so really can’t complain too much about it. Overall would recommend based on location and value alone!

We stayed 3 days in this hotel. The staff was wonderful. The hotel and room decor was very nice and pleasant, although the lighting in the lobby was kind of dark, which I think was part of the zen feeling they were trying to create, but it was hard to read, especially near the concierge desk. They offer free use of a PC as long as you use it in the lobby of the hotel. This was especially helpful after the business center closes. Every morning, they gave us each a free bottled water. It was not located in the immediate heart of the city, but not far from a couple of temples and shrines, and near easy access to the city bus.

The hotel decoration was very zen/ nature styled. The staff was polite and nice. But the hotel entrance was too inconspicuous due to the natural style. The Superior Hotel room I booked was super clean and the room dripping coffee was the best free coffee I have ever had. The pen on desk was nice. The shower and toilet were western style as opposed to the ordinary Japanese plastic combination. The whole washroom and shower were super nice and clean. The tooth brush was soft. Overall very statisffied with this hotel.

I usually look for hotels that are as close to the station as possible when I'm in Japan. Hotel Elcient Kyoto was called El Inn Kyoto when we first went, and we thought everything was clean and very straightforward. The rooms were a great size with all our luggage, and made it convenient to jump around from the Fushimi Inari to all food/sightseeing in Gion. We'll definitely come back as it was so convenient even with a lot of luggage.

This is a great hotel, right next to the train station so very convenient. It's also a stones throw from Kyoto Tower, buses, taxis and a walkable distance to many shrines and the shopping area of Kyoto. The rooms were large and very comfortable and well appointed. I would definitely stay here again even though it was the most expensive hotel we stayed in. Worth every penny.

Before arriving in Kyoto I hemmed and hawed over whether to stay at a hotel on the Kamogawa River or at the Granvia. We ultimately chose the Granvia because we were able to secure a "Family Room" (NOT advertised on any of the booking sites!! You have to email them to inquire about the availability) which was HUGE by any standards (62 sq m) and had 4 "twin" beds. I put "twin" in quotes because they were each wider than your standard American twin and longer. My 2 children, husband and I all had some of the best sleep of our lives in this hotel. The beds were incredibly comfortable with wonderful linens. The hotel itself is absolutely beautiful. I disagree with some of the reviewers that this is more of a 4-star hotel than a 5 star. It absolutely deserves its 5 stars. The breakfast was OUTSTANDING. Best hotel breakfast I've ever had. We absolutely LOVED this hotel and would stay here again.

I enjoyed my stay very much and would definitely stay again. The room (with a double bed) was rather small and at first I was 'put off' by the 'junkiness' of the room: there seemed to be 'stuff' everywhere and the dark veneer of the furniture is a bit depressing but in fact everything was very clean and absolutely fine. However, by North American and European standards this is only a three-star hotel, definitely not a four-star, as the hotel apparently advertises itself. The best thing about it is the truly fantastic Japanese breakfast (one of two of the best I had in two weeks in Japan and much, much better than and half the price of the breakfast served in the larger, posh hotel I stayed in in Tokyo), served in the very nice, well-maintained and bright 'breakfast room'. The hotel does not have a restaurant but it does serve free, delicious noodles to all guests between 9 and 11 each evening--really fun and sufficient for a light supper. The location near the JR station was perfect for me as well. And the low price is extremely good too.

Convenient location, within 5 mins walk to Kyoto Station and Lawson.. Easy to travel to various tourist attractions by train, bus to kiyomizu, arashiyama, fushimi inari, nara etc and by walk to toji temple.. Many nice restaurants nearby.. Due to peak sakura season, the double room we booked is rather small with limited space for 2 luggage, toilet is rather small too.. But it was still a comfy stay.

Five Stars - Beautifully appointed, luxury hotel a short cab ride (a little under 2,000 yen) from downtown Kyoto and the Shinkansen and Subway Train system. LARGE rooms by any standard - especially for JAPAN where most rooms are small. An INCREDIBLE bathroom with wonderful soaking tub. Thick, absorbant Towels - not the usual paper thin ones. Within walking distance of the Old Imperial Palace Compound and gardens which is a MUST see. Take a short cab ride to the Golden Pavillion which is a Pagoda in the middle of a lake covered with gold leaf decoration all amidist a beautiful estate with shrines, a waterfall and the requisite gift shop. From the Golden Pavillion you can walk to a well maintained childrens shrine with several alters, including a bib alter. Then amble on down the street to the Cherry Blossom Shrine which is full of Cherry Trees and Plum Trees, as well as several shrines and ceremonial pavillion.

I enjoyed my stay at the Anteroom because it has a chic modern clean sparse feel to it. However there were a few things that was peculiar but not a big deal. First of all they use traditional keys for the locks rather than card keys. This was also used to turn on the power of the room and elevators. They have two sets of bikes that they rent out. One that is free that you use for only an hour or two hours, while they have an all day bike rental that you have to pay for. I enjoyed borrowing the bike to goto the Fushimi Inari Shrine which is nearby the hotel, just make sure you have a good map to get there. The receptionists were helpful in providing guidance with the bus routes to the attractions.

the hotel is centrally located and quite near the JR railway station. it is easily accessible from the rail station. it is a well-appointed hotel and noting the japanese courteousness and their trait of deference, I would say that the hotel staff is tops - from the concierge who was very accommodating, to the front desk personnel who were as efficient and to the porter who provided service at every opportunity like giving directions, suggestions on places to eat and in helping out with the luggage - I have no complaint. The hotel staff knew pretty good english and could communicate well. with respect to the accommodations, the room was comfortable, clean, complete in all accessories and I say, nicely designed. it was spacious for a japanese hotel. the location is the best. it is near a buddhist temple and not too far from the nijo castle and the imperial palace as well as to other historic sites in kyoto. overall, I rate the hotel with a 5 star.

The hotel is just in very strategic location which close to every public transportation. On the first night, we directly take Airport limousin bus to Kyoto and the station is just around 100m from the hotel. Hotel is close to Hankyu line & Randen where could take u to Arashiyama and Fushimi. Bus stop to Gion, Kiyomizu Temple is just 100m away too. Breakfast only offers pastries but they were just delicious for a light breakie to start up ur day. Counter has a friendly staff who can speak fluent Chinese. So he give us a very clear explanation for a good route to start our trips. Overall our 3 days stay here are perfect. Definitely would recommend to everyone 👍👍

The hotel was new, which meant the facilities were new too. Love their hot spring, and their complimentary coffee served from morning till night (8pm or so) - it was really good ice coffee. We booked their Twin Rooms, and was only in Kyoto for 3 days. So we travelled light. The rooms maybe a little small if you have big luggages like the 29 inch type. Huge toilets, glass door type. Unlike most hotels in japan with built in toilets (that you have to get into the bathtub to shower), i prefer bigger showers like in this hotel It is walking distance to NIJO CASTLE, Unesco Heritage site. Definitely worth the visit. Highly recommend you to visit this CASTLE compared to OSAKA Castle. Will definitely stay here again if I am back in Kyoto, and will definitely recommend to friends.

Location is really close to JR Kyoto / Kintetsu Railway. Staffs fluent with english, Staffs are really kind, WiFi internet is quite fast, the twin bedroom is larger than the other japan's hotel. Near the hotel, you can find a lot of restaurant. I recommend you to try 'Nakau Restaurant', they sell a lot of japanese food (udon, katsudon, chicken karage, sukiyaki, katsu curry, cold udon, etc). When I want to buy Kyoto All Day Bus Ticket, just walk 5 minutes from hotel, go to inside the JR Station, go to second floor, find the Tourist Information Center near ISETAN Dept Store, buy it there 500 JPY. When u want to go sightseeing with bus, u can see a lot of the bus in the station in front of the hotel, beside the JR Kyoto St. Tips: Use bus no. 100 to go to Kiyomizudera temple, or Bus No. 5 to go to Gion or Nishiki Market area. Gion market is cheaper than the other market in Kyoto. If you're Japan Rail Pass Holder, use JR local trains to go to Fushimi Inari Shrine, it's free. Just stop at the Fushimi Inari station, that shrine located outside the station. So from Ibis Hotel to Fushimi Inari Shrine at least 10 min course.

I had initially booked another hotel but only managed to get one day. The 2-5 day were spent at CMM. My advice is to take the Kansai airport bus (not the subway) to kyoto if your destination is Kyoto as last stop is situated about 200m from CMM. Once you alight from the bus, make a left turn and walk about 150m or so then make a right. Another about 100m you will see CMM on the left. It’s a pretty small hotel but you can see it. There’s a family mart about 20m away. I had gone to the mall opposite the hotel (20m away) for breakfast. Lots of Japanese food and a McDonalds. Kyoto station is about 300m (opposite the anovementioned mall. There’s also plenty of food there. The friendly staff speak English and Mandarin so no worries. They are super patient and will give you lots of suggestions on shopping and food. Like all Japan hotel, it’s pretty small but things are well organized. There’s a washing machine, stove and oven so you can do your own cooking. Overall, yes I’ll return

I spent 2 night in Kyoto Tower Hotel. The reason I booked this hotel was because of the central location which is just opposite to the JR train station and bus terminal to many tourist spots. The other reason is its tower. I had spent an evening on the tower to enjoy the view of Kyoto. The best thing is the staff in this hotel. They are very helpful especially I asked for their help to call the airlines and talk with the airlines staff since the my original flight had been cancelled. Although the room is small but it is clean which it is enough for me as a budget solo traveler. I would highly recommend this hotel to others

Sakura Terrace was really nice, I stayed there for 6 nights! I enjoyed the close proximity to Kyoto station (5 minutes walk) and other major shopping areas(Aeon mall about 8 minutes to the north west). Moreover, the hotel offers large hot bath with sauna. Based on my experience, not many people use the public bath, it could be that visitors are not comfortable with getting completely naked in order to use the bath. The hotel itself also offers one free drink per night. The setting in the bar is really cool and the outdoor patio looks even nicer in the evening. The staff was very helpful and the hotel looks very new and clean. You can check out using their ATM lookalike machine, just insert your card and off you go. Overall, it was probably the nicest hotel I stayed at, even though it was a rated a 3-star hotel (during the two weeks in Japan, I stayed in a lot of 4/5 star hotels, Sakura is much smaller and less grandeur/regal looking. But in terms of bang for your buck, it is the on par with the 4/5 star hotels and if not better). I would totally go there again if I visit Kyoto again!

The location is quite ok. Various bus routes just a minute away from hotel. In Kyoto you will be catching bus more than subway so access to a big bus stop is more convenient. few minutes walk to Shin-omiya stn which going directly to Arashiyama Bamboo forest. I didn’t use the train lines that much so depends where you go it will benefit you but 90% you’ll catch bus to shrines and temples in the city. The hotel is pretty new so cleanliness is good and facilities inside hotel are new also. Few limitations are you can’t leave your luggages at hotel itself because there is no reception desk there. The hotel check-in & out are done automatically on ipad. No actual staff presentation at hotel. They have their main office near Kyoto stn, if you need to drop off your luggage before/after your stay, you’ll need to pickup/bring luggage to office, quite inconvenient if you have few pieces. A friendly suggestion, should have communication app like Line, Whatapps to have quicker reply.

came from namba,osaka by rapid train. arriving in jr kyoto station at the center exit immediately saw the kyoto tower. went left and after a block there's the kyoto tower annex. very near the kyoto station for the purpose of travelling around the city attractions. it is a great base as the city buses that offer all day pass for 500yen you can reach the different shopping districts and markets for fresh delicious food and great restaurants. or to the many shrines and temples. regularly bus fares are 220yen per ride. so the all day pass is very advantageous for travellers who might take the wrong bus like i did. the kyoto station is the center of transportation as the subways also connects there. the haruka or shinkansen to the kansai airport is also available from this station. this hotel also has a supermarket across and a lawson convinient store beside.
