"Had been to Kyoto for a conference. This was my first time in Japan. The hotel was conveniently located with two chief railway stations nearby (950 km). So if you are a tourist, one of the most popular locations in Kyoto, the Fushimi Inari shrine is close by. It's right outside the Inari station. The hotel's at a walking distance from there. There is another station close by--Fukakusa station (you get a direct train to kiyomizu dera temple from here). Service at the hotel was quite good. They also have their own cafe which opens as per the timings. The Danish toast served there is quite good. The staff was really polite and helpful. Overall, I had a very comfortable stay at the hotel. "

"The address is different than the one google maps gives so be careful! The guesthouse is actually less than 5 minute walk from the Fushimi-Inari Station. We were pleasantly surprised when we came to the right address and it was so close to the station. The house itself is very clean and organized. We had the Japanese style double room on the first floor which was connected to an outside terrace. We slept on mats on the floor and it was really comfortable. The room was spacious and beautifully decorated, and the owner even provided drinks for us in the room. Also, she provided a booklet of useful Japanese phrases, directions to groceries, etc. The toilet was One Piece themed which was very cute! The bathroom was large and very clean. Not to mention, the guesthouse is literally less than 10 min walk from the Fushimi-Inari Shrine itself, which was great, and surrounded by lots of cafes and restaurants, etc. Overall, when I return to Kyoto again, I will definitely book this place again. "This place was such a great find and truly the highlight of our trip. We checked in our luggage at their office near Kyoto Station and they delivered our luggage to the Ryokan by 4 pm (check in time, no exceptions as per their policy). This was a great deal for us because we went to the area hassle free, wore our kimonos and went around the shrine and cafes. We checked in at 4 pm as we were told and the place is walking distance from the iconic shrine. It's less of a Ryokan and more of a private two-storied Japanese styled villa. The bathroom has a bath tub with a window that opens into a private garden, so you can enjoy some sake and a view as you bathe. Very, very romantic for couples. Highly recommend! I will definitely book the Machiya Townhouse for every stay to Kyoto. Extremely satisfied and great value for money!"
