Its a nice hotel, 5 minutes walk from the main station, however that is it. They don't have onsen or any type of spa onsight. Just a very nice building and good location, that is about it. If you want to experience Japan or relax after a long day - they don't have anything. Small western style room. Very clean. It is not worth paying extra, I have stayed in better places in Japan that are more traditional with onsens. I would not stay there again. They offer breakfast, but price is high. Hotel next door has a very nice buffet breakfast for 1K yen. Much better. They took my luggage earlier no problem, however did not check me in earlier saying it was all booked. Very nice staff.

Brand new, incredible service and beautiful modern zen. The onsen/spa is free for all guests and you should definitely use. I really wanted to purchase the yukata provided but they were not for sale (my only recommendation to hotel - sell those lovely things!). The bed was a bit firm for our taste but that wouldn't stop us from staying here again. We had an incredible dinner at the Tempura place next door - there are 3 locations within a block of each other. About $100/person for the "counter service" which meant we were in a small private room sitting in front of the chef, about 8 seats total and impeccable service. Hotel arranged the reservation for us upon arrival.

We only booked for one night to see the top 5 attractions of Kyoto. New miyako was superbly located, just in front of the massive train station and bus transits which can lead u to ALL major attractions in Kyoto. You can take the bus 100 and get a day pass for ride all u can, you can see major temples such as Silver pavilion and a nearby one with a UNESCO heritage badge. Also can get dropped off nearby Gion town with possible Geisha sightings. I was able to go Fushima inari shrine, Gion and a main temple in half a day. Second half day was able to see silver and gold pavilion, also arashiyama. Meaning location excellent. Food not a problem with restaurants in hotel and nearby groceries and huge food court in train station. We got higher end rooms than standard ones which had a nice dark vibe in the corridors. A nice four star feel. Rooms a bit larger for Japanese standard that is also why i got it. 2 single beds (a bit hard but also a Japanese norm) and a sitting area with a table. Cable tv no English channel. I will probably stay here again if I visit Kyoto again due to proximity of hotel to Train station.

I travelled during golden week and failed to get the hotel I usually stayed in. I decided on this hotel, despite out being new with relatively few reviews, for the location and price. Wasn't expecting much but we had a pleasant surprise. We liked that the whole hotel is non smoking and without stale smell. Our room wasn't very big but its sufficient for 2 to walk around and one small and one medium sized luggage. Room was really clean and comes with extras amenities like navigation phone for tourists (which I only came across in 4 star and above hotels) and a nano mist facial machine. Too bad we forgot to try it the latter before we left! Location wise its about 5 to 10 min walk from the station. Many food and snack shops along the way. There are a few quaint restaurants (izakayas, okonomiyaki and yakitori) very close by the hotel. We tried an izakaya a few steps away from the hotel (cocoichibanya side) and the food was really good. Overall, a satisfied stay at the hotel.

This hotel exceeded our expectations. The hotel is grand...very clean, modern and had the best concierge. I was traveling with my parents who are in their 70s and my sister with her husband and two young children. We stayed in two japanese style suites and it was amazing. They were providing 2 bento-like boxes of toiletries (including shiseido facial cleanser). My nephew got sick and the concierge found us an English speaking pediatrician and called a taxi to drive us to the clinic and back. They arranged everything for us. The shuttle service to the Kyoto Station is very reliable and efficient. I could only say great things about this hotel. If I could give them 10 stars, I would. Will recommend this hotel to our friends and we would love to come back in the future.

Location is the best. Just across the underground path, the entrance will right in front of you. You can access JR and department store very easily. Bus interchange and Kyoto tower is right at the corner. The best thing is there is a Super big shopping mall behind the hotel, you can find everything you need there. We are a group of four, so we booked a linked room ( two rooms linked together). The room is comfy and cozy. We only stayed here for one day, but we did enjoyed our stay! If there comes another chance to visit Kyoto again, I'll definitely choose here again.

As soon as we arrived we knew we were going to have a faboulous stay Recepcion hall is an open courtyard where a nice open fireplace warms you up as soon as you arrive There is also a great bar (with an other fireplace) My boyfriend is a smoker and as in Japan smoking areas are really hard to find he really enjoyed this one as it was in a great space. After our welcome drink (which was amazing!!) we got few information about the hotel and we have been really pleased discovering the Onsen was a free in house guest facility The Onsen was great we put on our super comfy kimono and enjoyed the hot water tub. Staff was great and really helpful, they even helped us book a great traditional dinner in a restaurant. We didn't really want to leave! I highly recommend this hotel in Kyoto

We have stayed in Sotetsu Fresa in Tokyo and very happy with it, so we chose Sotetsu Fresa in Kyoto again this time. The hotel is very new, near the station (about 5 mins walk), it's very clean so you can enjoy the bath with the Onsen powder they provided with no problem. The room is very spacious compared to most of the hotels in Japan. Their breakfast is even better than the one in Tokyo as it is buffet style and always have something difference every day. I'll definitely stay here again if I have the chance to come back to Kyoto. The staffs are all very friendly as well.

Upon arrival I was allowed to check in early and provided a detailed map with points of interest circled. Also given advice on the best times to go to these places. The location was perfect and once I started walking everything just presented itself. After a long day of sightseeing and a great meal away from the hotel, I went to the hotel bar for a nightcap. It was the best ambiance for a hotel bar I've experienced. Intimate and warm (which was welcome after a cold day). It was just the perfect end to a perfect day. Next time I'm staying longer! Too much to see in this city!

The hotel decoration was very zen/ nature styled. The staff was polite and nice. But the hotel entrance was too inconspicuous due to the natural style. The Superior Hotel room I booked was super clean and the room dripping coffee was the best free coffee I have ever had. The pen on desk was nice. The shower and toilet were western style as opposed to the ordinary Japanese plastic combination. The whole washroom and shower were super nice and clean. The tooth brush was soft. Overall very statisffied with this hotel.

A very well located hotel on the quieter side of Kyoto Station. Close to subway, trains, Shinkansen and buses. The Airport Limo bus stops right outside the property. Also close to lots of eateries and shopping malls, including Don Quixote which closes late. The staff were friendly, room was clean, new and well-designed so although small, the space was maximised. Amenities were provided in my room, including slippers, toiletries and a clothes freshener (that was so impressive). The room also came with hairdryer, kettle, tea/coffee, drinking water, mini fridge, TV, humidifier and room-controlled air-conditioning. Everything that I needed, they provided. The bed and duvet was very comfortable. The best part is there is an onsen onsite, so I could experience a bath and a soak, blissful after all the walking I did. Once again, everything I needed for the onsen was provided.

Stayed here for one night on a 2 day explore of Kyoto. The Hotel was in the perfect location, just next to Kyoto main train station. I had a standard twin and the room was beautiful, clean and a good size with a lovely view over Kyoto. We arrived early in the morning and staff let us check our luggage in while we explored the temples around Kyoto. We arrived back to the hotel in the evening and they had taken our bags up to the room for us which is a nice touch. The next day we checked out early and left our bags with them until 8pm which was a great help. Their bar shuts early unfortunately (11:30pm) and doesn't have wi-fi which is a shame. Drinks were a tad expensive, all 1000yen up but it's worth popping in for a Hibiki 17 on the rocks to soak in the ambiance. Overall it was definitely worth the £100 and their 4* rating. I've read some bad reviews saying otherwise but after travelling around Asia this was one of the best price to experience ratios I've had, just a shame it doesn't have a spa!! As a side note, I requested to have a room as far from the station as possible as I'm a light sleeper and we were put on the 10th floor

Before arriving in Kyoto I hemmed and hawed over whether to stay at a hotel on the Kamogawa River or at the Granvia. We ultimately chose the Granvia because we were able to secure a "Family Room" (NOT advertised on any of the booking sites!! You have to email them to inquire about the availability) which was HUGE by any standards (62 sq m) and had 4 "twin" beds. I put "twin" in quotes because they were each wider than your standard American twin and longer. My 2 children, husband and I all had some of the best sleep of our lives in this hotel. The beds were incredibly comfortable with wonderful linens. The hotel itself is absolutely beautiful. I disagree with some of the reviewers that this is more of a 4-star hotel than a 5 star. It absolutely deserves its 5 stars. The breakfast was OUTSTANDING. Best hotel breakfast I've ever had. We absolutely LOVED this hotel and would stay here again.

Superb location right across the Kyoto station and bus terminal. There is a Lawson convenience store located at the ground floor of the the hotel and there is a direct access entrance door strictly for hotel guests. Hotel is equipped with a very nice Onsen spa (Men and Women separated) consisting of both indoor and outdoor pool and tubs at the top floor (level 9). The hotel serves free noodles, free beverages for guests after 9pm every night. Staff are very well trained and guest-centric in their service. Highly recommend for those who want a good location, good facilities and customer service in their stay in Kyoto.

I can't really fault this hotel for the price I paid. I booked a small double room and despite being small, as expected, the layout and amenities were very well though out. The same goes with the compact modular bath. You practically need to just arrive with your clothes, everything's provided for. Location was key for my choice. The hotel is directly across Kyoto Station and the bus stop to all the sites. Easy access street level or via Porta Underground to shopping and dining. Don't miss Yodabashi Camera located just behind the hotel. Best of all, the staff are extremely friendly and helpful. Can be a bit of a challenge communicating but they'll do their best to understand and help you out. Highly recommended.

Super worth considering it’s a five star hotel. Nice environment, location is a bit far but located in a quiet neighborhood, not a big problem for us as we were in a big group using a bus to travel around Kyoto. Food is impressing - both western buffet breakfast & Japanese style breakfast. Liked the food very much! Rooms are nice & clean. Hotel itself is a bit old style but very well maintained. Kudos to the polite & helpful staffs with bright smiles. Staffs at the restaurant during breakfast time were very friendly & polite too. Facility wise, no gym, no swimming pool & no onsen. For us it’s really not a too big deal (although a bit bit disappointing) as we were traveling around Kyoto during day time & only came back to hotel during night time. Beds were comfy. Overall it’s a very good experience staying in Brighton Hotel. Will definitely recommend to others & come back again for another stay in future!

Joking in the title aside, Hotel Anteroom Kyoto was a refreshing change from the already-excellent hotels I've stayed at until this point during my first trip to Japan. Some solo travellers may find the single room to be too small for their liking - I'll admit that my room was a bit cramped, but given how beautiful Kyoto is, as a small base to take a break at once or twice a day, the small size didn't bother me that much. What really worked for me were the facilities at the hotel and the small list of what's available on the street the hotel is located on. Facilities-wise, you'll only need to spend 200-300 yen if you need to get some laundry done yourself, and if you do that during the night, you can wait for everything to be done in style at the hotel bar. As for the latter, that's how I found myself eating my first ramen in Japan, and how I found out about the best little bakery I've ever been to, anywhere in the world. First-time travellers to Kyoto booking a stay at this hotel may be a bit confused as to how to get to this hotel from Kyoto Station. Take the green subway line towards the south and get off at either Kujo or Jujo - the hotel is located on a major side street between the two stations.

A short walk from the Kyoto train station, you will find a big convenient store and behind it is Almont Hotel. Relatively new, the hotel serves up a delicious breakfast Japanese breakfast spread and boasts a cosy public onsen(public bath). The staff are helpful and friendly. The room is substantial in size and big on comfort. If you are not sure what to do around Kyoto, there is a little library for you to browse and plan your days out or simply borrow the books and head up to your spacious room to start your research. The public onsen isn't huge, but it opens till 2am on certain days. If you are not sure what to do, read the instructions in your room. It isn't too crowded in either the female or male onsen so that helps if it is your first time getting into one. The female onsen password changes daily so female guests are protected and can be assured of their safety. The hotel room toilet is fairly spacious and well equipped for a refreshing shower after a whole day of exploration. A revisit is definitely a yes.

the hotel is centrally located and quite near the JR railway station. it is easily accessible from the rail station. it is a well-appointed hotel and noting the japanese courteousness and their trait of deference, I would say that the hotel staff is tops - from the concierge who was very accommodating, to the front desk personnel who were as efficient and to the porter who provided service at every opportunity like giving directions, suggestions on places to eat and in helping out with the luggage - I have no complaint. The hotel staff knew pretty good english and could communicate well. with respect to the accommodations, the room was comfortable, clean, complete in all accessories and I say, nicely designed. it was spacious for a japanese hotel. the location is the best. it is near a buddhist temple and not too far from the nijo castle and the imperial palace as well as to other historic sites in kyoto. overall, I rate the hotel with a 5 star.

Stayed 3 nights in this hotel on a recent sightseeing trip to Kyoto with my wife and 10 year old son. Although we only booked a double room, I mentioned that I was travelling with my son and the hotel thoughtfully provided a room with 3 single beds at no extra charge. The hotel is quite new and very clean and well decorated. Beds were comfortable with a choice of different pillow types - foam or beans! The bathroom had separate wet-room shower and a bathtub. This is a no- smoking hotel which is unusual in Japan which made a nice change in what is a serious smoking country so no stale smoke odours! A free 'continental' breakfast consisting of unlimited freshly-baked (warm!) Danish pastries, juice cartons and tea & coffee is provided. The hotel is 2 minutes walk from the Hankyu railway's Omiya station and the Randen Arashiyama Line's Shijo Omiya station. There are plenty of bus stops within a few minutes walk to take you to all of the major tourist sites - I recommend the one-day Kyoto bus pass for 500 Yen (available at the hotel front desk or from bus drivers) which is cheaper than 3 bus rides if you will plan on using the bus for tourism! The hotel web site provides details of how to get there - which if you are coming from Kyoto JR Station needs a change between the Kyoto Metro and the Hankyu Railway and separate tickets, neither are operated by JR so not included in the Japan Rail Pass! Would certainly consider staying here again if I return to Kyoto.

We were already surprised by the size of hotel room in Japan, so by the time we checked in we already knew this hotel is not out of the norm. Unless you want to pay more than 200 usd/ night, room size will not be any bigger than this. The room was well designed, so even though it was small, it was very cozy and everything seems new. The location is good. There is a good french restaurant a few doors down. A 7-eleven, pharmacy, laundromat and a supermarket were all within a 5-minute walk. Nijo station is about 2-3 blocks away. Bus stop is right in front of 7-eleven which was like 20 meters away from the hotel and across the street. We could get to Kyoto station either by bus or train. JR train does go to Nijo station, so our JR pass came handy. The hotel has free public bath/ spa that guest can enjoy and on-site laundromat facility. We will stay at this hotel again.

A comfortable hotel in a great location. The rooms were well sized compared to similar properties in Japan. The breakfast was decent with a good selection of both western and Japanese offerings. The best feature was its proximity to the Kyoto station - literally across the road. There are many, many restaurants within walking distance at the station and a substantial supermarket and shopping at Aeon Mall five minutes away. We had a room overlooking the station which delighted my trainspotting husband who never got tired of watching the shinkansen. A quick walk through the station brings you to Kyoto sightseeing tours, local buses and subway. We really enjoyed our stay here.

probably the best choice for limited choices of spa resort in the Lake Biwa area. my wife and I enjoyed very much the deluxe room with privated outdoor spa with lake view here. we drove round the lake and paid visits to several sites, particularly, 白鬚神社監 & 彥根城. two more things to notice. there is no night life in the area, and, the dinner in Bikawa Kyokusuitei is excellent and values for money

I had initially booked another hotel but only managed to get one day. The 2-5 day were spent at CMM. My advice is to take the Kansai airport bus (not the subway) to kyoto if your destination is Kyoto as last stop is situated about 200m from CMM. Once you alight from the bus, make a left turn and walk about 150m or so then make a right. Another about 100m you will see CMM on the left. It’s a pretty small hotel but you can see it. There’s a family mart about 20m away. I had gone to the mall opposite the hotel (20m away) for breakfast. Lots of Japanese food and a McDonalds. Kyoto station is about 300m (opposite the anovementioned mall. There’s also plenty of food there. The friendly staff speak English and Mandarin so no worries. They are super patient and will give you lots of suggestions on shopping and food. Like all Japan hotel, it’s pretty small but things are well organized. There’s a washing machine, stove and oven so you can do your own cooking. Overall, yes I’ll return

I spent 2 night in Kyoto Tower Hotel. The reason I booked this hotel was because of the central location which is just opposite to the JR train station and bus terminal to many tourist spots. The other reason is its tower. I had spent an evening on the tower to enjoy the view of Kyoto. The best thing is the staff in this hotel. They are very helpful especially I asked for their help to call the airlines and talk with the airlines staff since the my original flight had been cancelled. Although the room is small but it is clean which it is enough for me as a budget solo traveler. I would highly recommend this hotel to others

i need to review on this hotel because this hotel really give the best facilities to the guest.. First they give free drink to all the customer everyday just show your card hotel and they will give you free drink of Alcohol and for the guest they give you best price for alcohol only 500Yen.. so cheap huh.. and the Onsen was very nice.. everytime you going back from travel and you can go Onsen until 1AM they open.. the breakfast also nice.. and the room not too small just nice for the two of us.. the Hotel just in front of Train Station.. Overall TOP

We love how convenient the hotel is located - just 3 minutes walk to the Kyoto Station and bus terminal. There is also a Lawson convenience store right beside our hotel. Although the room is compact, we were delighted to find a tub in the bathroom, maybe this is Japanese hospitality because bathing and onsen is such a big part of their culture. The other plus I have to comment - is that there are alot of freebies given at the lobby for guests to pick and choose (from sunscreen, brushes, shaving cream, mask, pillows, etc). Guests can choose to take what they want, which I feel is more sustainable. This is a good solution for the possibility of overproviding if its given in every guest room, which may ended up being wasted or unused but thrown away by housekeeping.
