I booked this 4 star hotel before it opened in June with a discounted price. It was such a great experience since the hotel provides great location (very close to Kyoto station), helpful staff (some of them are Caucasian) and spacious and clean rooms. We had three rooms booked. The Caucasian lady was confused by the last names so one room got upgraded to Hollywood Twin. It was a very nice suite with separate shower and toilet. The bed was very comfy and it did help with the sleep after walking for nearly 20k steps every day. The lobby has strong AC so it felt really good in the hot summer (~40 degree). This was my best hotel experience in Japan although it was more than what I normally pay for accommodations.

It's a brand new 5 star hotel (opened in September 2017). The location is just perfect for us as we had gotten the hotel to make most of our restaurants reservations, mostly around the GION district area. Quite a number of sightseeing places (famous Shrines & Temples) are within walking distance. It is especially good for us as we can walk off the calories after our lunch and before heading back to hotel to freshen up and then for dinner. The room size is pretty good and everything is so new and clean.. even the hotel smells good too! Room rate is considered reasonable given the high rates in most hotels in Kyoto. Overall,we are happy and satisfied with the stay at Celestine Kyoto Gion. The only problem (not big though) is you have to be rather patience with the staff if communicating in English with them. Anyway, will definitely stay at this hotel again.

We only booked for one night to see the top 5 attractions of Kyoto. New miyako was superbly located, just in front of the massive train station and bus transits which can lead u to ALL major attractions in Kyoto. You can take the bus 100 and get a day pass for ride all u can, you can see major temples such as Silver pavilion and a nearby one with a UNESCO heritage badge. Also can get dropped off nearby Gion town with possible Geisha sightings. I was able to go Fushima inari shrine, Gion and a main temple in half a day. Second half day was able to see silver and gold pavilion, also arashiyama. Meaning location excellent. Food not a problem with restaurants in hotel and nearby groceries and huge food court in train station. We got higher end rooms than standard ones which had a nice dark vibe in the corridors. A nice four star feel. Rooms a bit larger for Japanese standard that is also why i got it. 2 single beds (a bit hard but also a Japanese norm) and a sitting area with a table. Cable tv no English channel. I will probably stay here again if I visit Kyoto again due to proximity of hotel to Train station.

I travelled during golden week and failed to get the hotel I usually stayed in. I decided on this hotel, despite out being new with relatively few reviews, for the location and price. Wasn't expecting much but we had a pleasant surprise. We liked that the whole hotel is non smoking and without stale smell. Our room wasn't very big but its sufficient for 2 to walk around and one small and one medium sized luggage. Room was really clean and comes with extras amenities like navigation phone for tourists (which I only came across in 4 star and above hotels) and a nano mist facial machine. Too bad we forgot to try it the latter before we left! Location wise its about 5 to 10 min walk from the station. Many food and snack shops along the way. There are a few quaint restaurants (izakayas, okonomiyaki and yakitori) very close by the hotel. We tried an izakaya a few steps away from the hotel (cocoichibanya side) and the food was really good. Overall, a satisfied stay at the hotel.

This hotel exceeded our expectations. The hotel is grand...very clean, modern and had the best concierge. I was traveling with my parents who are in their 70s and my sister with her husband and two young children. We stayed in two japanese style suites and it was amazing. They were providing 2 bento-like boxes of toiletries (including shiseido facial cleanser). My nephew got sick and the concierge found us an English speaking pediatrician and called a taxi to drive us to the clinic and back. They arranged everything for us. The shuttle service to the Kyoto Station is very reliable and efficient. I could only say great things about this hotel. If I could give them 10 stars, I would. Will recommend this hotel to our friends and we would love to come back in the future.

Location is the best. Just across the underground path, the entrance will right in front of you. You can access JR and department store very easily. Bus interchange and Kyoto tower is right at the corner. The best thing is there is a Super big shopping mall behind the hotel, you can find everything you need there. We are a group of four, so we booked a linked room ( two rooms linked together). The room is comfy and cozy. We only stayed here for one day, but we did enjoyed our stay! If there comes another chance to visit Kyoto again, I'll definitely choose here again.

The room, Superior double, was HUGE by Japanese standards. The staff was exceptional. They were friendly and informed and very helpful. Many of them speak English extremely well. Ask them about sites to visit and how to get there. They have free laundry facilities (including free laundry detergent). They will lend you an adapter for the length of your stay. Family Mart, grocery store (in Aeon Mall) are a quick walk away - 4 or 5 blocks. There is an onsite onsen, restaurant, bar/evening musical performances and free drink each night of your stay. They will lend you an umbrella too. 3 easy block walk to Kyoto station, which makes using buses and trains easy. You can use luggage delivery services within Kyoto and to/from Tokyo. I highly recommend this hotel as the best I have stayed in in Japan (over 10 hotels total) and it was very reasonably priced through Agoda,com. I was so very happy with my choice. Go and stay and enjoy.

Upon arrival I was allowed to check in early and provided a detailed map with points of interest circled. Also given advice on the best times to go to these places. The location was perfect and once I started walking everything just presented itself. After a long day of sightseeing and a great meal away from the hotel, I went to the hotel bar for a nightcap. It was the best ambiance for a hotel bar I've experienced. Intimate and warm (which was welcome after a cold day). It was just the perfect end to a perfect day. Next time I'm staying longer! Too much to see in this city!

The hotel decoration was very zen/ nature styled. The staff was polite and nice. But the hotel entrance was too inconspicuous due to the natural style. The Superior Hotel room I booked was super clean and the room dripping coffee was the best free coffee I have ever had. The pen on desk was nice. The shower and toilet were western style as opposed to the ordinary Japanese plastic combination. The whole washroom and shower were super nice and clean. The tooth brush was soft. Overall very statisffied with this hotel.

Good location, just 5-minute walk from JR Kyoto Train Station and shopping mall. 2 big malls, Kyoto Avanti is opposite, and bigger mall AEON mall 5 min walk. Hotel provides wet and dry laundry machines which is coin operated and password protected, and ramen noodle and drink vending machines selling fresh milk and best is public sauna pool. The room is cosy (comfortable and mattress and comfortable) and clean with all the appliances. The room is new, i guess they just renovated the room. Varieties of tv channels, HD tv.

Check in by email confirmation and tablet in hotel reception without receptionist. But you can rest and store luggage for free at Grand Japaning office nearby Kyoto station before check-in and after check-out. Staffs in the office are super kind and helpful, thanks the staffs for assisting when I need hot water for milk making to my child, and also searching for my pre-book ticket delivery from third party to the office. I had enjoyed free shuttle bus to Kinkakuji too! Grand Japaning Hotel Nijo located at a quiet area, just few minutes walk from Nijo Station, opposite is 100yen shop and 100yen sushi restaurant, a few ramen shops nearby too. Room is nice, toilet with bathtub and free laundry service! Beds and quilts are comfortable, my kid love it so much.

The hotel warns you that there is daytime construction going on until January 2019. Since we are somewhat early risers, the noise did not affect us. Our room was clean and a good size. The location is perfect - you can walk to the station in seconds as it is across the street. Breakfast was delicious each morning! We loved all the choices, and the staff was very friendly. I only took one star away (for value) because they had told us there were laundry facilities available, but they we found out it wasn’t coin-operated. Instead they do it for you and charge you 300 yen PER shirt! With a week’s worth of clothes to wash we just could not justify any of it. That is my only disappointment.

Before arriving in Kyoto I hemmed and hawed over whether to stay at a hotel on the Kamogawa River or at the Granvia. We ultimately chose the Granvia because we were able to secure a "Family Room" (NOT advertised on any of the booking sites!! You have to email them to inquire about the availability) which was HUGE by any standards (62 sq m) and had 4 "twin" beds. I put "twin" in quotes because they were each wider than your standard American twin and longer. My 2 children, husband and I all had some of the best sleep of our lives in this hotel. The beds were incredibly comfortable with wonderful linens. The hotel itself is absolutely beautiful. I disagree with some of the reviewers that this is more of a 4-star hotel than a 5 star. It absolutely deserves its 5 stars. The breakfast was OUTSTANDING. Best hotel breakfast I've ever had. We absolutely LOVED this hotel and would stay here again.

I enjoyed my stay very much and would definitely stay again. The room (with a double bed) was rather small and at first I was 'put off' by the 'junkiness' of the room: there seemed to be 'stuff' everywhere and the dark veneer of the furniture is a bit depressing but in fact everything was very clean and absolutely fine. However, by North American and European standards this is only a three-star hotel, definitely not a four-star, as the hotel apparently advertises itself. The best thing about it is the truly fantastic Japanese breakfast (one of two of the best I had in two weeks in Japan and much, much better than and half the price of the breakfast served in the larger, posh hotel I stayed in in Tokyo), served in the very nice, well-maintained and bright 'breakfast room'. The hotel does not have a restaurant but it does serve free, delicious noodles to all guests between 9 and 11 each evening--really fun and sufficient for a light supper. The location near the JR station was perfect for me as well. And the low price is extremely good too.

Stayed for a night. Room is very clean and comfortable. I didnt realise I booked a small double so it was really small. Not suitable for more than 2. Loved the 3 types of tea available for guests. Robes were provided. Location is strategic. Just opposite Kyoto Station and shopping. Those who intend to take the airport bus (Keihan Bus) from Kyoto to Kansai Airport need to walk a distance as the pick up point is behind the Kyoto Station. So check it out the route earlier. You are advised to buy your tickets earlier. Transportation is easily accessible. Able to take bus 100 to visit Philosopher's Path. Found an outlet near the hotel serving good breakfast and coffee early. Thank you to the front desk officer for the smooth check-in, check-out & helping us to keep our luggages till we left.

Internet facilities in the room was good and free of charge. Room was large and comfortable. Bed was comfy and sheets were soft and of very high quality. Decor of room was excellent. It truly lives up to the 5 star rating. Bathroom had a bathtub that was partitioned glass panels and had a separate shower unit in it. One could really relax and enjoy a beautiful bath. The toilet seats were heated and had automatic wash and flush system. The mini bar was fully equipped with Japanese tea pots and cups and beatiful drink glasses. The Japanese tea provide by the hotel which was free of charge was of very high quality. Bath amenities were great and was thought of very carefully as they even provided a hair band for the ladies. I was also surprised to find a packet of clothes washing detergent in the amenity drawer. The Brighton hotel has been the best hotel we have stayed in, which truly lives up to it's 5 star rating. Definitely recommend it.

Overall, it was an enjoyable stay at the Hotel Anteroom Kyoto. As I spent most of my time out sightseeing, my time in the hotel was mainly for rest/sleep. It provided that well with a clean, spacious (relative to Japanese hotels and at this great value) and quiet room to do that. Housekeeping was done efficiently while the reception staff (and all staff in general) were polite and spoke good English. Fumiko-san in particular was very helpful and approachable. While the hotel's location requires at least a 10 minute walk from Kyoto Station, it is a straightforward walk (safe and quiet too) and along the way you will find some convenience stores and dining options. There is a subway station closer to the hotel if required but since I had the JR pass, I just used Kyoto station and walked. Hotel Anteroom Kyoto also provided a in-room info-brochure/magazine that pointed out two or three dining options closer to the hotel - unfortunately I didn't read it until before I checked out so never did try them. The hotel has a breakfast buffet at 1,000 yen which I didn't try either but it looked good value with a main course, smoothie, dessert and other options. The only bad point I would mention is that my room's toilet did smell a little strange but in the end I believe it was either the lavender shampoo or coconut (or something) body wash they provided (they did smell great when used though). Nevermind though as you just needed to turn on the air cycling ventilation thingie and that'd fix it. Oh yes, you do need to step up to the toilet so just be careful when you come out. Free self-laundry machines which is a major plus. They also have a nice lounge area on the first floor which I saw quite a number of people use which was nice.

The rooms were immaculately clean and very well designed. The beds were comfortable and the room always smelt and felt forest-fresh due to the de-ionise/ air cleaner that was in the room. It was an easy 7 minute, flat walk from the Kyoto station (exit on the west side, and walk left until you reach the second set of traffic lights and turn right). If you are too close to the station, you can hear the announcements at night - so this place was in a very quiet, clean and safe area. Kyoto station is central to all the major attractions, and after a hard days walking it was great to not have to have to transfer to different stations just to get back home. The staff were friendly and they spoke good english. When I return to this region, I will stay here again without any hesitation. This hotel was the best value for money I have found during all my travels. 10/10 for comfort, style, cleanliness and location. The management team at Almont should feel proud of their effort and attention to detail.

This hotel has great value for money. It is very clean and the beds are comfortable. The rooms are compact, practical but spacious than most hotels of this kond in Japan. The staff are helpful, polite and attentive. Breakfast was delicious. The bathrooms were impeccably clean and haseverything you need. It is near public transport and walking distance to nishiki market and pontocho. We had an amazing stay and will stay here again.

the hotel is centrally located and quite near the JR railway station. it is easily accessible from the rail station. it is a well-appointed hotel and noting the japanese courteousness and their trait of deference, I would say that the hotel staff is tops - from the concierge who was very accommodating, to the front desk personnel who were as efficient and to the porter who provided service at every opportunity like giving directions, suggestions on places to eat and in helping out with the luggage - I have no complaint. The hotel staff knew pretty good english and could communicate well. with respect to the accommodations, the room was comfortable, clean, complete in all accessories and I say, nicely designed. it was spacious for a japanese hotel. the location is the best. it is near a buddhist temple and not too far from the nijo castle and the imperial palace as well as to other historic sites in kyoto. overall, I rate the hotel with a 5 star.

Stayed 3 nights in this hotel on a recent sightseeing trip to Kyoto with my wife and 10 year old son. Although we only booked a double room, I mentioned that I was travelling with my son and the hotel thoughtfully provided a room with 3 single beds at no extra charge. The hotel is quite new and very clean and well decorated. Beds were comfortable with a choice of different pillow types - foam or beans! The bathroom had separate wet-room shower and a bathtub. This is a no- smoking hotel which is unusual in Japan which made a nice change in what is a serious smoking country so no stale smoke odours! A free 'continental' breakfast consisting of unlimited freshly-baked (warm!) Danish pastries, juice cartons and tea & coffee is provided. The hotel is 2 minutes walk from the Hankyu railway's Omiya station and the Randen Arashiyama Line's Shijo Omiya station. There are plenty of bus stops within a few minutes walk to take you to all of the major tourist sites - I recommend the one-day Kyoto bus pass for 500 Yen (available at the hotel front desk or from bus drivers) which is cheaper than 3 bus rides if you will plan on using the bus for tourism! The hotel web site provides details of how to get there - which if you are coming from Kyoto JR Station needs a change between the Kyoto Metro and the Hankyu Railway and separate tickets, neither are operated by JR so not included in the Japan Rail Pass! Would certainly consider staying here again if I return to Kyoto.

The hotel was new, which meant the facilities were new too. Love their hot spring, and their complimentary coffee served from morning till night (8pm or so) - it was really good ice coffee. We booked their Twin Rooms, and was only in Kyoto for 3 days. So we travelled light. The rooms maybe a little small if you have big luggages like the 29 inch type. Huge toilets, glass door type. Unlike most hotels in japan with built in toilets (that you have to get into the bathtub to shower), i prefer bigger showers like in this hotel It is walking distance to NIJO CASTLE, Unesco Heritage site. Definitely worth the visit. Highly recommend you to visit this CASTLE compared to OSAKA Castle. Will definitely stay here again if I am back in Kyoto, and will definitely recommend to friends.

We speak English as our native language and had little trouble understanding and being understood by the hotel staff. They were all very friendly and always ready to be of assistance. The rooms were as large as hotel rooms in America so we were quite pleased with the whole experience. The restaurants were extremely high priced though. You should be aware of that but other options are within walking distance. The beds are very firm but comfortable and the bathrooms are large. You get a full size bottle of shampoo and conditioner and body soap so need to bring it from home. Would do again!!!!

A comfortable hotel in a great location. The rooms were well sized compared to similar properties in Japan. The breakfast was decent with a good selection of both western and Japanese offerings. The best feature was its proximity to the Kyoto station - literally across the road. There are many, many restaurants within walking distance at the station and a substantial supermarket and shopping at Aeon Mall five minutes away. We had a room overlooking the station which delighted my trainspotting husband who never got tired of watching the shinkansen. A quick walk through the station brings you to Kyoto sightseeing tours, local buses and subway. We really enjoyed our stay here.

Close to Shijo-Omiya Station, around a 1-minute walk, if you are going to Arashiyama (no transfers required). Close to Omiya Station, around a 2-minute walk, if you are going to Gion (only two stops away, no transfers required). Far from Kyoto Station but only a bus ride away (we rode bus route 206). Bus stop to Kyoto Station is a 2-minute walk on the right side of Omiya Dori. Self-service laundry available but you have to pay and buy detergent from them. Confusing policy (because of the language barrier) about the No Cleaning Service but otherwise no complaints with hotel cleanliness/service. 7/10 - possibly would stay again due accessibility of location.

The room we booked was huge and had 2 double beds so it was perfect because we were travelling with a toddler. It was clean and spacious so our little one could run around and play and they had good facilities like washing machine and microwave. The only thing was you had to throw away your own rubbish outside yourself. With so many nappies to throw away everyday I found it very tedious that I had to do this myself despite paying the high premium for the hotel, but I guess I was paying for the location and convenience? The location was so convenient for those wanting to travel around the Kansai area. 2mins walk to Kyoto Station where all the major train and subway connections are. They were also many restaurants, drug stores, convenience stores nearby and the Avanti Mall and Aeon Mall both a short walk. Finally the staff were welcoming and friendly and helpful. In particular a girl called Shichao, she was there when we arrived and was very kind and helpful.

I spent 2 night in Kyoto Tower Hotel. The reason I booked this hotel was because of the central location which is just opposite to the JR train station and bus terminal to many tourist spots. The other reason is its tower. I had spent an evening on the tower to enjoy the view of Kyoto. The best thing is the staff in this hotel. They are very helpful especially I asked for their help to call the airlines and talk with the airlines staff since the my original flight had been cancelled. Although the room is small but it is clean which it is enough for me as a budget solo traveler. I would highly recommend this hotel to others

Sakura Terrace was really nice, I stayed there for 6 nights! I enjoyed the close proximity to Kyoto station (5 minutes walk) and other major shopping areas(Aeon mall about 8 minutes to the north west). Moreover, the hotel offers large hot bath with sauna. Based on my experience, not many people use the public bath, it could be that visitors are not comfortable with getting completely naked in order to use the bath. The hotel itself also offers one free drink per night. The setting in the bar is really cool and the outdoor patio looks even nicer in the evening. The staff was very helpful and the hotel looks very new and clean. You can check out using their ATM lookalike machine, just insert your card and off you go. Overall, it was probably the nicest hotel I stayed at, even though it was a rated a 3-star hotel (during the two weeks in Japan, I stayed in a lot of 4/5 star hotels, Sakura is much smaller and less grandeur/regal looking. But in terms of bang for your buck, it is the on par with the 4/5 star hotels and if not better). I would totally go there again if I visit Kyoto again!
