I booked this 4 star hotel before it opened in June with a discounted price. It was such a great experience since the hotel provides great location (very close to Kyoto station), helpful staff (some of them are Caucasian) and spacious and clean rooms. We had three rooms booked. The Caucasian lady was confused by the last names so one room got upgraded to Hollywood Twin. It was a very nice suite with separate shower and toilet. The bed was very comfy and it did help with the sleep after walking for nearly 20k steps every day. The lobby has strong AC so it felt really good in the hot summer (~40 degree). This was my best hotel experience in Japan although it was more than what I normally pay for accommodations.

Excellent hotel in the heart of Higashiyama! It was a bit of a walk to either subway station, but it was nice to retreat in the evenings to the quite serene neighborhood. It's centrally located for temple visits, in fact there is a temple directly across the property, which made it so peaceful walking home daily. They have a shuttle to Kyoto Station and the spa is very clean and relaxing. The staff are exceptionally helpful and friendly. Great service, great room! Best hotel we stayed at in Japan! I'd come back next time I'm in Kyoto.

We only booked for one night to see the top 5 attractions of Kyoto. New miyako was superbly located, just in front of the massive train station and bus transits which can lead u to ALL major attractions in Kyoto. You can take the bus 100 and get a day pass for ride all u can, you can see major temples such as Silver pavilion and a nearby one with a UNESCO heritage badge. Also can get dropped off nearby Gion town with possible Geisha sightings. I was able to go Fushima inari shrine, Gion and a main temple in half a day. Second half day was able to see silver and gold pavilion, also arashiyama. Meaning location excellent. Food not a problem with restaurants in hotel and nearby groceries and huge food court in train station. We got higher end rooms than standard ones which had a nice dark vibe in the corridors. A nice four star feel. Rooms a bit larger for Japanese standard that is also why i got it. 2 single beds (a bit hard but also a Japanese norm) and a sitting area with a table. Cable tv no English channel. I will probably stay here again if I visit Kyoto again due to proximity of hotel to Train station.

Very good hotel - outweighed my expectations. What I got for the money was an awesome surprise. Room was spacious for japanese standards. Room nicely arranged and well equipped (they give you even a free smartphone for Your stay as a part of room service). Everything clean and shiny - like brand new. Comfortable bed, room was silent, WiFi internet worked well. Very friendly, english-speaking staff. Perfect location makes it a good base for sightseeing around Kyoto (2-3 minutes walk from a Subway station and bus stop.), or even around Japan (5 min walk from a Kyoto Station). If I will get back to Kyoto, I will definitely choose Garnet Hotel again.

I love my vacastay at Rihga Royal Hotel Kyoto. I booked Deluxe Twin Non-Smoking Room which can accomodate for 4 peoples with 4 single beds. Spacous and luxurious room with very good quality of amenities, clean and comfortable beds. Helpful and frienfly staff that always provided us clear direction on how to go places around kyoto. Location is great, close to Kyoto Station. Hotel provides free shuttle bus from/to kyoto station. The only one cons is we have to pay for using the swimming pool. Very recommended for friends to stay at Rihga Royal Hotel Kyoto.

The location is unbeatable. It is about 5 to 10 minutes walk from the central entrance/exit of the JR Kyoto station. It is also just 6 steps from one of the entrances to Porta underground shopping mall and you can walk along to the JR Kyoto station or Kyoto subway station without getting wet. Perfect on rainy days. The front desk staff was very friendly and helpful. Their English was quite fluent and it was easy to communicate with them. I met some elderly housekeeping staff on other floors who were all very polite. I appreciate that the hotel had entertained my request and assigned me a room on high floor with a nice view of the Kyoto station. It is overall a very pleasant stay in this hotel. Ps. I stayed there for 4 nights.

One stop from KIX via train...if a foreigner, buy ticket at KIX Information Center or JR Train station office. Lots of staff and help with tickets. Hotel is easy to find...just walk out the Central Exit of Kyoto Station and up the road...hotel is two blocks up...about 5 to 10 minute walk from train station. Hotel is clean and new. Staff were helpful and friendly. Breakfast was good. Was a nice place to return to after busy sightseeing days. Staff made good restaurant recommendation for ramen.

Best located (for my purpose) hotel for me and my small family. There is a kimono rental shop just at the entrance and the selection was small but very beautiful. I personally did not rent from there but from what I can observed, it is a convenient place to start for your kimono experience. They charged around 3900 yen when I was there. There is a small Lawson right across the street from the hotel, in case you came back late from your excursion and in need of refreshment. The shops at Kyoto Station generally close at 10PM. one of the reason i stayed was the excellent location which is just over the kyoto jr station with subway as well as the subway station almost underneath your hotel. the staff was excellent. i asked for an iron at 0030 hrs and it was delivered to my room. the only problem i faced was that i could not get anything to eat when i landed at the hotel after midnight. i have stayed in this hotel almost 13 years ago and i found it the same very nice ,comfortable and friendly. i would recommend this to everyone who wants to be in kyoto for business or a holiday.

We were very pleased with the hotel. A friend had recommended it and we were not disappointed. I was a little fearful, since train stations are not in the best areas in some cities. This is not the case in Kyoto. In fact, I think 60 Minutes did a segment on this train station/ hotel. There is a department store close by. Be sure to check out the restaurants on the 9th, 10th, and 11th floors. The 9th floor is strictly ramen!

I enjoyed my stay very much and would definitely stay again. The room (with a double bed) was rather small and at first I was 'put off' by the 'junkiness' of the room: there seemed to be 'stuff' everywhere and the dark veneer of the furniture is a bit depressing but in fact everything was very clean and absolutely fine. However, by North American and European standards this is only a three-star hotel, definitely not a four-star, as the hotel apparently advertises itself. The best thing about it is the truly fantastic Japanese breakfast (one of two of the best I had in two weeks in Japan and much, much better than and half the price of the breakfast served in the larger, posh hotel I stayed in in Tokyo), served in the very nice, well-maintained and bright 'breakfast room'. The hotel does not have a restaurant but it does serve free, delicious noodles to all guests between 9 and 11 each evening--really fun and sufficient for a light supper. The location near the JR station was perfect for me as well. And the low price is extremely good too.

The hotel is walking distance from the Kyoto train/subway station. It's next to a Yodabashi mall. Next to a Starbucks and a Mcdonald's. The staff can speak English and the lobby has a couple of restaurants. The room we stayed at had a tiny shower/tub area but I found it cute and quaint. The toilet is your basic Japanese complicated heated toilet bowl but had diagram drawings to give you an idea of what to press. The bed was comfortable. The room we occupied had no closet space but they did provide hangers for our clothes. There is a mini ref and wifi instructions was on the desk area and easy to see and understand. The hotel provides an extra charger for all kinds of gadgets and a lan cable for people with laptops. The room was clean and the staff kept it well when we had the room made up. For the convenience and nearness to subway/train station I'd stay here again.

The facilities of this hotel are very humanized，and the room is clean and comfortable。We stayed 2 nights here and slept very well。I think if you just want to visit some scenic spots which are not near by the city center ，such as Arashiyama 、kinkakuji temple and so on，this hotel will be a good choice。Because this hotel serves the shuttle bus can be Karasumaoike subway station，and you can change the train to the other spots。The last day we stayed in Shijo，it was very convenient to visit Gion and some spots,but I didn't like it for the crowded people and properous streets。I enjoyed the quiet environment and the antique street，so it was my choice。and I hope this estimate can help the other guests。

The reception staff at Anteroom were very friendly and extremely helpful during my stay. Not only were they able to provide me information I needed on public transportation and airport bus schedules, they also helped pack and send my parcels (local express delivery). The experience of drinking their complimentary drink at the bar after a long day is pleasant and there are several Kyoto magazines (Japanese) available for reading. I stayed in the single room, which is very compact. The bathroom is slightly elevated and may be a little inconvenient for some people. The hotel is located in a very quiet neighborhood and a bit of a walk from Kujo station. It may not be close to main tourist spots, but the hotel is within taxi flag-down fare distance and one subway station from Kyoto Station. There are a few buses within walking distance that bring you to many Kyoto attractions. I really loved the lavender shampoo and conditioner, which unlike most hotels, even 5-star ones, actually makes your hair smooth and smells good.

From JR shinkansen, find exit to hachijo-dori, keep walking to the left till the end of the road. Cross the traffic light at the right. The hotel is a block away from the traffic light. About 7/8 minutes walk from the station. Hotel staff is helpful and polite, speak English fluently. Ask the staff where to rent a bicycle, they introduce a place near to hotel within walking distance. Should rent a bike to explore Kyoto. Will get lots of fun. The parking of the bike is free at the hotel. They provide japanese breakfast. My husband and I love japanese food. So we love their breakfast with variety of Japanese foods. The washing machine is in the public bath area with 200 yen. The washing detergent is pre-stored in the washing machine. So you don't have to bring your own washing powder or detergent.

Stay this hotel for two nights in Kyoto. Near to Omiya station and Shijo Omiya station. There are few bus station nearer the hotel if you would like to take city bus. Visited the Arashiyama bamboo side by using 嵐電, which just located 1minutes away from hotel. You can go to Kawaramachi area by metro Omiya station which also just 1minutes from hotel. Convinient locatio in Kyoto and friendly staffs. Everyone are smiling and greet you. There are free breakfast and you can cook a simple dish. Breakfast are egg/ham/tuna/bread/sandwich/salad/fruits/soup and plenty of drinks that you can take. Room are big and two luggage can fix and open. Hotel is new, clean and I will stay again if visit Kyoto in future.

This hotel is not a friendly to pregnant women. This is actually one of the worst hotel experience traveling to Japan. My wife is currently having a four month old baby in her belly and better not to encounter with second hand smoke. We asked for a non-smoking room, but they only provided us with a smoking room on a smoking floor. We immdienty go to the front desk to ask for a non-smoking room and they said "we can do nothing because our room are fully booked, so we only have this room left" How could a four star hotel which has more than 500 rooms sold out 100% of their room and could not arrange a non-smoking room for us? We cheked in around 3 in the afternoon, so we are pretty sure there are rooms that the guests are not checked in yet. We argued a little bit then they said, we have a non smoking room available now, but this one room you need to pay 10,000 Yen EXTRA otherwise you could DOWNGRADE to a small non-smoking room that is cheaper than the one you booked. In the end, we have no choice but downgrade. The service is bad, very bad! It is not worst because even though they don't want to do any thing for their customer, but they still talk professionally. This is not a pregnant-women friendly hotel. Moreover, the location is not great, not close to shopping area nor subway station. Compared to more than 30 Japanese hotels I stayed before, you definitely could have a better choice if you pick a hotel ramdomly from a list.

When I first got there, I let the staff know I've made a mistake with the booking, and they offered me a solution (with a small upgrade fee). The staff is friendly and very well-mannered. The room is slightly small overall so it is hard to lay the luggage on the ground and open them (if you have big luggage case). But the bathroom is spacious, unlike most hotels I went to, which makes it enjoyable when taking a bath. The room is clean and tidy, and I find the bed and duvet very comfortable (although it can get quite hot at night if you don't turn on aircon). It is a few minutes walk to local restaurants e.g. Nakau, Matsuya, Kushihatchi and convenience stores (7/11). It is also a couple minutes from the Omiya subway station, Randen station and Shijo-Omiya bus station. For the price and its location, despite having smaller room, I would not hesitate to return to Hotel M's Plus Shijo Omiya.

My wife and I traveled here as newlyweds, just at the start of June's rainy season. We were slightly confused by the entrance, but found ourselves in a wonderful hotel, with excellent facilities. The hot baths were really enjoyable to use, and we visited them in the hotel-provided outfits. In fact, we had so much fun that we wanted to buy the outfits back, which they allow you to, but we were running a tight budget so we skipped out on it instead. There is a bus stop right in front of the hotel, as well as a subway station a short walk away. I would recommend this location for travelers who are keen to try the Kyoto bus system (I relied on the buses heavily for this location), and who are not so keen to stay close to the hustle and bustle of the shopping (Sanjo to Gojo) streets.

A comfortable hotel in a great location. The rooms were well sized compared to similar properties in Japan. The breakfast was decent with a good selection of both western and Japanese offerings. The best feature was its proximity to the Kyoto station - literally across the road. There are many, many restaurants within walking distance at the station and a substantial supermarket and shopping at Aeon Mall five minutes away. We had a room overlooking the station which delighted my trainspotting husband who never got tired of watching the shinkansen. A quick walk through the station brings you to Kyoto sightseeing tours, local buses and subway. We really enjoyed our stay here.

Close to Shijo-Omiya Station, around a 1-minute walk, if you are going to Arashiyama (no transfers required). Close to Omiya Station, around a 2-minute walk, if you are going to Gion (only two stops away, no transfers required). Far from Kyoto Station but only a bus ride away (we rode bus route 206). Bus stop to Kyoto Station is a 2-minute walk on the right side of Omiya Dori. Self-service laundry available but you have to pay and buy detergent from them. Confusing policy (because of the language barrier) about the No Cleaning Service but otherwise no complaints with hotel cleanliness/service. 7/10 - possibly would stay again due accessibility of location.

I had initially booked another hotel but only managed to get one day. The 2-5 day were spent at CMM. My advice is to take the Kansai airport bus (not the subway) to kyoto if your destination is Kyoto as last stop is situated about 200m from CMM. Once you alight from the bus, make a left turn and walk about 150m or so then make a right. Another about 100m you will see CMM on the left. It’s a pretty small hotel but you can see it. There’s a family mart about 20m away. I had gone to the mall opposite the hotel (20m away) for breakfast. Lots of Japanese food and a McDonalds. Kyoto station is about 300m (opposite the anovementioned mall. There’s also plenty of food there. The friendly staff speak English and Mandarin so no worries. They are super patient and will give you lots of suggestions on shopping and food. Like all Japan hotel, it’s pretty small but things are well organized. There’s a washing machine, stove and oven so you can do your own cooking. Overall, yes I’ll return

The hotel is of walking distance from Kyoto Station. It will be a little tiring if you have large bags as you will need to go up/down some stairs. However, there is a subway station right in front of the hotel to go to Kyoto Station (Gojo Station -- Kyoto St is just one station away). The hotel offers easy access to the bus station located outside Kyoto Station - the main mode of transportation if you want to explore Kyoto, and trains of course. Rooms are clean and comfortable. They provide a free drink (alcoholic / non-alcoholic) every night for guests from 6-10pm and a free public bath. There is also free laundry service (which I did not use). At the cafe, there is an information area where they provide small flyers (English :)) with directions to reach many tourist destinations (info on train/line/bus number/bus stops, etc) which are really helpful. One of the best hotels I stayed throughout my trip to Nagoya, Kyoto, Osaka and Tokyo.

The hotel is at a great location. It is location within 3 minutes walk from the Shijo-Omiya station. The NIshiki Market is 1-2 stops away. There is a tram station at the intersection that is direct line to Arashiyama Bamboo Forest. Kyoto station is a short bus ride away. There are multiple restaurants and food marts around. As mentioned by other reviews, the whole check-in process is digital. But if you follow the instructions in the email carefully, the whole process is a breeze. If you encounter an issue, there is a phone that connects directly to a staff to guide you along. The room is slightly small with sufficient space to only open one large luggage on the floor. But the bed was comfortable and all the necessary amenities provided in the room.

first of all. This place is offered at very reasonable.price andit is very very close to kyoto central station. It took me just about 7mins to the subway station. Location wise...perfect... Besides....you can walk down to kyoto towel in 10mins walking distance from where you stay. Also.there is a big underground shopping.mall so.called porte. You.can have good dining and so on. It is.located.in between this hotel.and kyoto central.station. So ir.may take you.just 5minutes to get there.
