A bustling, busy hotel right next door to The Park Mall, Solo Baru. A great place for a mini staycation. Pros: - Conveniently located next to The Park Mall and Hartono Mall which both have lots of great eating options, shops, supermarkets, bakeries and donut shops, salons, karaoke and cinemas - Over the road from a 24 hour warung/angkringan centre - close to lots of other street warungs - walking distance to convenience stores (Indomaret) - lovely clean rooms with modern design, large beds and windows, nice towels - great views of Mt Merapi from rooms on the upper floors on the north side - good breakfast with a range of warm Indonesian dishes (noodles, fried rice, chicken), cooked-to-order stations for eggs, pancakes, waffles, crepes, noodles, some western options (bread, toast, jams, cereals), a range of juices, coffee and tea. Cons: - short staffed (often a long wait to check in, reception phone goes unanswered) - pool is such a shame, not a nice atmosphere

We traveled to Solo baru for cousin's wedding on December, it was held on a convention hall inside a mall. It was surprising to find this hotel that very much near to the Mall, with very reasonable price, so we booked without thinking. We arrived very late because of traffic, but still have our desired room neatly waiting for us. Rooms are clean and neat, every electricity works. Staffs are kind and helpful. Location is perfect! There's Double Decker cafee next to the hotel, but it close on midninght so not noisy at all. Fave Hotel Solo Baru is surrounded by 2 huge mall and other business centre. We stroll around the Malls on the nest day before heading back to hotel for check out. It was only a short visit, but I recommend this hotel when we back to Solo for other trips.

We stayed for 2 nights in a Superior Room with breakfast included. Very good value for what you get. The buffet style breakfast on offer is excellent. The suitability of the location is dependent on your expectations or requirement for your visit I would guess. A taxi to virtually anywhere is around 25k and a becak (for 2 people) around 20-30 for 2-3km (Solo Grand Mall for example). Across the road from Amarelo there is a department store with a small food court but no convenience or grocery store close by. Some food carts and small shops all around though. The in house restaurant has a decent selection and also offers room service. The staff was generally helpful and friendly. We arrived on a Friday and the hotel was pretty full - for some reason we were placed in a smoking room but the reception juggled things around and moved us to a non-smoking without much effort. They also helped with printing and calling a taxi when needed. My only complaint is the very loud saxophone music playing in the lobby 24/7 - the first night we had to ask reception to turn it down as we heard it in our room.

This was by far the best budget hotel we stayed in Indonesia. They even had room service! Free transfer to the airport, rather clean and big room (with a window :)), big bathroom with hot water. Quiet and close to the Solo Grand Mall. Breakfast was good - although not so many choices for western food lovers - tea, cafe, toast with jam, omlet, cake and fruit for western food lovers but many-many other choices for indonesian food lovers :)

When We Arrive and Doing Cek in. Mrs Vivi as Front Officer told us That The Room Were Booked and pay,,was Sold Out, Without room left For Us. And That Was They’re Misstake. So They Gave Us Room Above Deluxe. Without charging Us extra Money. Staff was very Polite and Nice. Hotel was Clean as They a New Hotel. Small Room but Very Comfort. Food was Average but Its Okey. Luv to Stay here if we are visitting solo again. Thank You so Much

Pros : it's very cheap, the staff is very nice (they can call a taxi for you), good wifi, good showers, comfortable bed and good working a/c, things were very quiet when I was there, coffee, tea, water and hot water available all day long. Cons : the breakfast is just bread with condensed milk, it's pretty far from the touristic attractions (between 25000 and 30000 Rp for a taxi from the bus station or the train station though, so that's ok ; walking to the city center takes a good half-hour and was pretty disagreeable to do as a solo female traveler, but it's doable). That being said, it's 5 minutes away from a big mall with a movie theatre, there's an alfamart and an indomaret next door and plenty of cheap eateries around (and lots of options in the mall too).

Pros: - Location. Location. Location. - Small cozy old "losmen" style with lots of garden. - You could park your car in front of your room. Bonus: Car-washing everyday for your car. - Stay for the weekend? Do not miss Solo Car Free Day in the street front of hotel. Negs: - Might be a bit loud if there is a wedding reception. The hotel is well know venue for wedding. Therefore expect late night preparation including sound checks until wee hours.

We stayed at Rumah Batu and Villa Solo when this hotel just opened for a few months. The hotel was beautiful, clean and the room we stayed was at the 2nd floor, not big but very nice. The swimming was small but big enough for our 4,5 yers old daughter. The breakfast was excellent, the chef was came out from the kitchen to say hello to the guests. And offered the food he could extra cook for our daughter. The 'disapointment' was only the location of the hotel that was not acurately stated on the map of the hotel's website (at all, the location on the website was in centre of Solo and the real location of the hotel is in Solo baru, it's a completely different area). It took us more than 2 hours to finally found the hotel. We already told the manager to update their website. Hope it is now updated.

room was okay, and it was more than enough for the cheap hotel price we get from agoda. around the hotel there is pizza hut and diamond restaurant, and in the morning there is nasi liwet, famous food from solo near the hotel. we order from room service for dinner, and surprisingly it was very cheap! the food was only until rp. and additional breakfast for adult is only. very cheap buffet breakfast for a 3 star hotel! just 10 minutes by car to go to kraton solo.

Saya sangat terkesan dengan pelayanan dari seluruh petugas di Lampion Hotel. Dengan harga yang sangat baik, saya sudah dilayani dengan pelayanan Jemput dari Bandara (Free). Petugas yang menjemput serta seluruh yang bertugas di Hotel memberikan pelayanan dengan keramahan yang sangat menyenangkan.Fasilitas kamar, yang walaupun tidak terlalu besar, namun sudah sangat nyaman mempertimbangkan biaya yang harus dikeluarkan.Yang membuat saya senang juga Shower di Kamar mandinya yang sangat menyenangkan untuk menghabiskan waktu berlama-lama saat mandi. Pokoknya, kalau saya ke Solo, Lampion Hotel akan selalu menjadi pilihan utama saya.

Pros: good price and we are happy with our family room. Clean, too. Shampoo, soap, dental kits, 3 towels, hotel slippers are provided. Warm water, TV, air-con, all worked well. Cons: Towels are smelly (didn’t smell fresh/good). Feedback: When booking our room at Agoda, we chose to ‘book now, pay later at hotel’ (need to leave our credit card details just in case we cancel in the last minute). But when we arrive at hotel, the room is already charged to our credit card. Although it is okay with us, it is better if arrangements between Agoda and hotel are improved.

My stay was satisfactory for the most part, considering that this is a budget hotel. The staff were friendly and helpful. There were becaks right around the corner to take you where you needed to go. Bargaining the price of a journey is important as some of the locals double and triple the price for foreigners. So it would be a good idea to ask a local friend or the staff at the hotel about the average price of a journey to a particular place. The room was good except for the AC which was at its lowest temperature (17 ⁰C) but wasn't very cold at all. The wifi was horrible as the connection was always cutting and you had to re-enter the user name and password all the time, both on my laptop and phone. However, they provided free transportation for me to the train station (and I also learned that they pick you up too from the airport, train, bus station. All in all, I enjoyed my stay in Solo and would stay at this hotel again.
