I booked this 4 star hotel before it opened in June with a discounted price. It was such a great experience since the hotel provides great location (very close to Kyoto station), helpful staff (some of them are Caucasian) and spacious and clean rooms. We had three rooms booked. The Caucasian lady was confused by the last names so one room got upgraded to Hollywood Twin. It was a very nice suite with separate shower and toilet. The bed was very comfy and it did help with the sleep after walking for nearly 20k steps every day. The lobby has strong AC so it felt really good in the hot summer (~40 degree). This was my best hotel experience in Japan although it was more than what I normally pay for accommodations.

An attractive modern hotel with striking views on interior tree-filled courtyards. The lobby is stunning, the onsen is beautifully equipped, & the big rooms are a study in modular fittings: modern, compact, top quality equipment, where everything slides this way & that to personalize space. The beds are comfortable (however, only quilts, no blankets). The rooms are quiet. The air-conditioning works. The bathroom is equipped with bathtub & shower. There are oodles of products provided (shampoo, slippers, wrapping paper, connectique, …) - so much so that there is practically NO room for one’s own affaires. And the drawers are urban-lifestyle beautiful … but the size of an A4 piece of paper. The same goes for the safe (too small for a MacAir). The Wi-Fi works well as long as you don’t sit next to the windows. The staff is always available & helpful. The location is ideal: across the street from the Kennen-ji temple & a short walking distance to the center of Gion activities.

We only booked for one night to see the top 5 attractions of Kyoto. New miyako was superbly located, just in front of the massive train station and bus transits which can lead u to ALL major attractions in Kyoto. You can take the bus 100 and get a day pass for ride all u can, you can see major temples such as Silver pavilion and a nearby one with a UNESCO heritage badge. Also can get dropped off nearby Gion town with possible Geisha sightings. I was able to go Fushima inari shrine, Gion and a main temple in half a day. Second half day was able to see silver and gold pavilion, also arashiyama. Meaning location excellent. Food not a problem with restaurants in hotel and nearby groceries and huge food court in train station. We got higher end rooms than standard ones which had a nice dark vibe in the corridors. A nice four star feel. Rooms a bit larger for Japanese standard that is also why i got it. 2 single beds (a bit hard but also a Japanese norm) and a sitting area with a table. Cable tv no English channel. I will probably stay here again if I visit Kyoto again due to proximity of hotel to Train station.

I travelled during golden week and failed to get the hotel I usually stayed in. I decided on this hotel, despite out being new with relatively few reviews, for the location and price. Wasn't expecting much but we had a pleasant surprise. We liked that the whole hotel is non smoking and without stale smell. Our room wasn't very big but its sufficient for 2 to walk around and one small and one medium sized luggage. Room was really clean and comes with extras amenities like navigation phone for tourists (which I only came across in 4 star and above hotels) and a nano mist facial machine. Too bad we forgot to try it the latter before we left! Location wise its about 5 to 10 min walk from the station. Many food and snack shops along the way. There are a few quaint restaurants (izakayas, okonomiyaki and yakitori) very close by the hotel. We tried an izakaya a few steps away from the hotel (cocoichibanya side) and the food was really good. Overall, a satisfied stay at the hotel.

Beautiful hotel with extremely helpful and friendly staff. I actually contacted the concierge service at the hotel months before my trip to Japan to try and get them to help me secure tickets for a temple my group and I wanted to visit. They went above and beyond to help me with this but, unfortunately, tickets were sold out for the dates we wanted to visit. My only issue was the lag between sending my first email to them and their first reply back. (I think they have only one English speaking staff who could respond to English written emails when she was on shift). Concierge service was just as helpful during our stay. Our room was nice and comfortable but, for 3 girls with 2 suitcases each, the space was pretty tight. Definitely could have done with a bigger room (I think if we’d asked to be moved to a bigger room they might have moved us). We left every morning to tour and came back in the evening to perfectly tidy and clean rooms. :)

Location is the best. Just across the underground path, the entrance will right in front of you. You can access JR and department store very easily. Bus interchange and Kyoto tower is right at the corner. The best thing is there is a Super big shopping mall behind the hotel, you can find everything you need there. We are a group of four, so we booked a linked room ( two rooms linked together). The room is comfy and cozy. We only stayed here for one day, but we did enjoyed our stay! If there comes another chance to visit Kyoto again, I'll definitely choose here again.

I found this Hotel very clean, modern and with good facilities. I suggest that you ask for a north facing room. The hotel is just minutes from Kyoto station and well located in the middle of many sights. Bus and taxis are all well within the vicinity. The staff can speak both Japanese and English and are all very welcoming. The welcome drink each night is very appreciative. I also suggest venture out of the hotel as they are a range of Japanese food places.. All you can drink coffee and hot beverage is also something we found helped. The public bath is a bit small but very well maintain and clean. The gallery, restaurant and all other facilities are very good and the hotel as whole is quite good for a 3 star rating. I will definitely recommended other people to stay here if they visit Kyoto. Prices of the vary but I suggest looking at various sites to get the best deal.

Stayed here for 6 nights. The double room was slightly larger than those offered by other hotel chains but bathroom was the usual compact Japanese style. Great location, very clean modern rooms. The staff were super friendly and very helpful . Experienced my first earthquake in Japan while staying here and the staff were very reassuring! Laundry facilities are a plus and there a few bicycle rental places nearby to whiz around Kyoto city on. It's the best way to travel here. Didn't have the breakfast so can't comment but all-in-all I really recommend this Hotel/Inn.

this is one of the best hotels in Kyoto with efficient and friendly service. large rooms (by Japanese standards) and nicely designed lobby make this a good place for rest after a long day sightseeing in Kyoto. great location to some of the main temples as well as the main train station. a little bit far away from downtown (shopping), Gion and some of the temples in the north (though everything within max 20min cab ride). we were traveling with young child (16months) and staff was very helpful (and at times tolerant) in dealing with it.

We arrived in Kyoto somewhat tired, and were thankful that the hotel was right next to the train station, tucked between a shopping center and a beautiful temple - and with a police station next door (safety!). Getting into the room we found the facilities so new, it's like someone just took the plastic wrappers off of them. But the most surprising part was that when we were leaving for Osaka and needed to verify arrangements at the next hotel, the Daiwa Roynet staff made multiple phone calls for us, to help us with ANOTHER HOTEL!

Best located (for my purpose) hotel for me and my small family. There is a kimono rental shop just at the entrance and the selection was small but very beautiful. I personally did not rent from there but from what I can observed, it is a convenient place to start for your kimono experience. They charged around 3900 yen when I was there. There is a small Lawson right across the street from the hotel, in case you came back late from your excursion and in need of refreshment. The shops at Kyoto Station generally close at 10PM. Before arriving in Kyoto I hemmed and hawed over whether to stay at a hotel on the Kamogawa River or at the Granvia. We ultimately chose the Granvia because we were able to secure a "Family Room" (NOT advertised on any of the booking sites!! You have to email them to inquire about the availability) which was HUGE by any standards (62 sq m) and had 4 "twin" beds. I put "twin" in quotes because they were each wider than your standard American twin and longer. My 2 children, husband and I all had some of the best sleep of our lives in this hotel. The beds were incredibly comfortable with wonderful linens. The hotel itself is absolutely beautiful. I disagree with some of the reviewers that this is more of a 4-star hotel than a 5 star. It absolutely deserves its 5 stars. The breakfast was OUTSTANDING. Best hotel breakfast I've ever had. We absolutely LOVED this hotel and would stay here again.

I enjoyed my stay very much and would definitely stay again. The room (with a double bed) was rather small and at first I was 'put off' by the 'junkiness' of the room: there seemed to be 'stuff' everywhere and the dark veneer of the furniture is a bit depressing but in fact everything was very clean and absolutely fine. However, by North American and European standards this is only a three-star hotel, definitely not a four-star, as the hotel apparently advertises itself. The best thing about it is the truly fantastic Japanese breakfast (one of two of the best I had in two weeks in Japan and much, much better than and half the price of the breakfast served in the larger, posh hotel I stayed in in Tokyo), served in the very nice, well-maintained and bright 'breakfast room'. The hotel does not have a restaurant but it does serve free, delicious noodles to all guests between 9 and 11 each evening--really fun and sufficient for a light supper. The location near the JR station was perfect for me as well. And the low price is extremely good too.

Having stayed at other hotels in Toyko, I found this hotel to be "slightly" larger, but much cleaner and up to date. The staff spoke excellent English and the location was just perfect. Being directly across the street from the main bus terminal and the subway saved a great deal of time. Having a supermarket and multiple restaurants within a very short walking distance made this hotel an excellent choice. The hotel also had a great selection of travel books and even notebooks filled with information about each shrine & temple to include recommended routes and information about the easiest way to get to each attraction. I highly recommend this hotel as an affordable, clean, and travel friendly location.

Internet facilities in the room was good and free of charge. Room was large and comfortable. Bed was comfy and sheets were soft and of very high quality. Decor of room was excellent. It truly lives up to the 5 star rating. Bathroom had a bathtub that was partitioned glass panels and had a separate shower unit in it. One could really relax and enjoy a beautiful bath. The toilet seats were heated and had automatic wash and flush system. The mini bar was fully equipped with Japanese tea pots and cups and beatiful drink glasses. The Japanese tea provide by the hotel which was free of charge was of very high quality. Bath amenities were great and was thought of very carefully as they even provided a hair band for the ladies. I was also surprised to find a packet of clothes washing detergent in the amenity drawer. The Brighton hotel has been the best hotel we have stayed in, which truly lives up to it's 5 star rating. Definitely recommend it.

get to say it's a very cool hotel , kinda like a gallery. but for guys wanna experience the old flavor of kyoto will not be a suitable option, from room to food all western styled, though some unique JP design ideas were merged. Service is JP level, very good. Room fare is quite reasonable. Location is bit far, 15 mins walking to Kyoto station. Free bike renting is available, 2 hours time limit. 5 mins riding to Don Ji temple. English service available without communication problem. Room is clean and tidy as usual.

My significant other and I stayed at the hotel for three nights. We arrived in Kyoto around 8pm from Narita airport. The check in was smooth, staff is friendly. The room we stayed in was a semi double room on the 6th floor and was exactly what we expected. Great water pressure by the way. I definitely recommend this hotel to anyone who is looking to be near Kyoto station. I can see how some people have commented on the room size being on the small side. It didn't bother us as we were only there to sleep. Breakfast starts at 6:30am promptly. Highly recommend it if you plan on starting your day early. We were there during cherry blossoms season and it was nice to be able to get on the day early as many gardens and temples open early. Thank you Almont Hotel Kyoto for having us!

We were greeted by friendly staff every morning on our way to the lounge for a simple yet very satisfying breakfast. Beverages like coffee/tea and soft drinks were always available, which we enjoyed after returning from a long day touring Kyoto. Rooms were the typical small size you'd find in the city, but were clean and functional. Upon checking-in, we opted for the eco-friendly room cleaning service, and in exchange were given tokens to redeem free drinks from their vending machine. What a great idea, since we didn't think it was necessary to change towels everyday! There were many nice touches at the hotel which helped us with our planning, such as daily weather updates posted in the elevator, maps and handouts in the lobby recommending local attractions and restaurants, as well as other free amenities. Our family enjoyed daily stops at the nearby grocery store for snacks and ice cream, which we enjoyed at the hotel lounge every night before heading to bed. We hope to stay again!

the hotel is centrally located and quite near the JR railway station. it is easily accessible from the rail station. it is a well-appointed hotel and noting the japanese courteousness and their trait of deference, I would say that the hotel staff is tops - from the concierge who was very accommodating, to the front desk personnel who were as efficient and to the porter who provided service at every opportunity like giving directions, suggestions on places to eat and in helping out with the luggage - I have no complaint. The hotel staff knew pretty good english and could communicate well. with respect to the accommodations, the room was comfortable, clean, complete in all accessories and I say, nicely designed. it was spacious for a japanese hotel. the location is the best. it is near a buddhist temple and not too far from the nijo castle and the imperial palace as well as to other historic sites in kyoto. overall, I rate the hotel with a 5 star.

The best value of our Japan trip, we stayed four nights and the value meant that two single guys could afford their own rooms, it also was the only hotel to include breakfast, which was a Continental Breakfast of Breads, Pastries, Coffee/Tea and juices, it was perfect, also it was situated close to Omiya Station on the Hankyu Line if you are planning to visit Arashiyama for the Tenryuji Temple, Bamboo Grove, Sagano Scenic Train and the Hozugawa River Boat ride, the rail line also runs along the main street where all of the big stores are but do try some of the small places, they may not look like much, but you will get the best meal and service. I will make this my first choice to stay in Kyoto when I visit again

Location of this hotel is great, we walked with our 2 big luggages and 2 kids from Nijo train station, was about 10 mins walk. Bus stop also just outside which is very convenient as we used the bus more to go to the temples and places of interests. As for service, we can't fault the front desk. We left a luggage from a bus service we took from Tokyo to Kyoto. When we arrived at the hotel we requested their help to call the company, they were able to speak on our behalf and got the luggage delivered to the hotel. We got the luggage a couple of days later! Without their help we wouldn't have been able to get our luggage that quickly! Thank you for the person that helped us, we wrote down his name but lost it...thank you to them anyway. Room was good and it had good amenities. Breakfast was great too! I was able to try a few local food which was nice. We would stay here again.

Stay here if you need to be near the Kyoto International Conference Center. For this it is extremely convenient, as from anywhere else you need to travel a lot. It is a nice high-end hotel, surrounded by amazing greenery, rare in Japan, great jogging in the park with a lake, etc. But the hotel itself is nothing more, no gym, no pool, no other services. Not worth paying a penny for the Executive Lounge - it is nice, but it offers almost nothing except drinks in the evening. It was always empty, noone uses it. It is also bizarre that in a 4* international hotel next to an International Conference Centre where major international treaties have been negotiated, there are NO ENGLISH TV CHANNELS, except for one that is mostly devoted to promoting Japan. No BBC, no CNN, etc... Otherwise nice big rooms (unlike rest of Japan), superb views, nice breakfast.

Location is really close to JR Kyoto / Kintetsu Railway. Staffs fluent with english, Staffs are really kind, WiFi internet is quite fast, the twin bedroom is larger than the other japan's hotel. Near the hotel, you can find a lot of restaurant. I recommend you to try 'Nakau Restaurant', they sell a lot of japanese food (udon, katsudon, chicken karage, sukiyaki, katsu curry, cold udon, etc). When I want to buy Kyoto All Day Bus Ticket, just walk 5 minutes from hotel, go to inside the JR Station, go to second floor, find the Tourist Information Center near ISETAN Dept Store, buy it there 500 JPY. When u want to go sightseeing with bus, u can see a lot of the bus in the station in front of the hotel, beside the JR Kyoto St. Tips: Use bus no. 100 to go to Kiyomizudera temple, or Bus No. 5 to go to Gion or Nishiki Market area. Gion market is cheaper than the other market in Kyoto. If you're Japan Rail Pass Holder, use JR local trains to go to Fushimi Inari Shrine, it's free. Just stop at the Fushimi Inari station, that shrine located outside the station. So from Ibis Hotel to Fushimi Inari Shrine at least 10 min course.

When I arrived at Kyoto Station from Tokyo. The first thing was to visit Tourists' information center at the station. They provided me with the City map as well as the Bus route to the Hotel. Went to Bus stop A3 on the north side of station and catched Bus 206. It costs 200 Yen. Got off at the bus stop close to the Hotel. It's only few minutes walk. Room was not big but adequate with twin beds. The hotel is not the pick-up point for local tour. Have to go to nearby Hotel for pick-up. Hotel is central to few points of interest, such as Nijo Castle,Kyoto Imperial,Tenryuji Temple,Kikakuji temple(Golden Pavillion). They can be reached by either Bus or train. The 1-day Kyoto tour costs 11,600(including lunch) yen per person. If you want to save money, travel by bus or train yourself will still get you to the place you want.

I had initially booked another hotel but only managed to get one day. The 2-5 day were spent at CMM. My advice is to take the Kansai airport bus (not the subway) to kyoto if your destination is Kyoto as last stop is situated about 200m from CMM. Once you alight from the bus, make a left turn and walk about 150m or so then make a right. Another about 100m you will see CMM on the left. It’s a pretty small hotel but you can see it. There’s a family mart about 20m away. I had gone to the mall opposite the hotel (20m away) for breakfast. Lots of Japanese food and a McDonalds. Kyoto station is about 300m (opposite the anovementioned mall. There’s also plenty of food there. The friendly staff speak English and Mandarin so no worries. They are super patient and will give you lots of suggestions on shopping and food. Like all Japan hotel, it’s pretty small but things are well organized. There’s a washing machine, stove and oven so you can do your own cooking. Overall, yes I’ll return

I spent 2 night in Kyoto Tower Hotel. The reason I booked this hotel was because of the central location which is just opposite to the JR train station and bus terminal to many tourist spots. The other reason is its tower. I had spent an evening on the tower to enjoy the view of Kyoto. The best thing is the staff in this hotel. They are very helpful especially I asked for their help to call the airlines and talk with the airlines staff since the my original flight had been cancelled. Although the room is small but it is clean which it is enough for me as a budget solo traveler. I would highly recommend this hotel to others

Sakura Terrace was really nice, I stayed there for 6 nights! I enjoyed the close proximity to Kyoto station (5 minutes walk) and other major shopping areas(Aeon mall about 8 minutes to the north west). Moreover, the hotel offers large hot bath with sauna. Based on my experience, not many people use the public bath, it could be that visitors are not comfortable with getting completely naked in order to use the bath. The hotel itself also offers one free drink per night. The setting in the bar is really cool and the outdoor patio looks even nicer in the evening. The staff was very helpful and the hotel looks very new and clean. You can check out using their ATM lookalike machine, just insert your card and off you go. Overall, it was probably the nicest hotel I stayed at, even though it was a rated a 3-star hotel (during the two weeks in Japan, I stayed in a lot of 4/5 star hotels, Sakura is much smaller and less grandeur/regal looking. But in terms of bang for your buck, it is the on par with the 4/5 star hotels and if not better). I would totally go there again if I visit Kyoto again!

The location is quite ok. Various bus routes just a minute away from hotel. In Kyoto you will be catching bus more than subway so access to a big bus stop is more convenient. few minutes walk to Shin-omiya stn which going directly to Arashiyama Bamboo forest. I didn’t use the train lines that much so depends where you go it will benefit you but 90% you’ll catch bus to shrines and temples in the city. The hotel is pretty new so cleanliness is good and facilities inside hotel are new also. Few limitations are you can’t leave your luggages at hotel itself because there is no reception desk there. The hotel check-in & out are done automatically on ipad. No actual staff presentation at hotel. They have their main office near Kyoto stn, if you need to drop off your luggage before/after your stay, you’ll need to pickup/bring luggage to office, quite inconvenient if you have few pieces. A friendly suggestion, should have communication app like Line, Whatapps to have quicker reply.

came from namba,osaka by rapid train. arriving in jr kyoto station at the center exit immediately saw the kyoto tower. went left and after a block there's the kyoto tower annex. very near the kyoto station for the purpose of travelling around the city attractions. it is a great base as the city buses that offer all day pass for 500yen you can reach the different shopping districts and markets for fresh delicious food and great restaurants. or to the many shrines and temples. regularly bus fares are 220yen per ride. so the all day pass is very advantageous for travellers who might take the wrong bus like i did. the kyoto station is the center of transportation as the subways also connects there. the haruka or shinkansen to the kansai airport is also available from this station. this hotel also has a supermarket across and a lawson convinient store beside.
