Superior service”
I have been visiting Solo regularly for the last 5 years. Have stayed in a about a dozen hotels in the 3-star range. Tried Istana Griya 2 because I wanted to be close to an event in Fort Vandenberg. What a surprise! This is the first Solo hotel I really will want to return. Unbeatable value for money and best service of any hotel I have been in Solo. By far.

Lovely clean hotel and helpfull staffs”
I was staying for a night with some friends. First time I booked this hotel through Agoda, I underestimate a bit about this hotel because there was no review yet.But finally i was impressed with the hotel atmosphere. This hotel is more precise to call as a guest house instead of hotel. However, they have a security standard as a hotel. The staffs were friendly and helpful, The bathroom is very clean, and They have a good location in city center, only 5 minutes walking to Istana Mangkunegara, 200 meter to Slamet riyadi road (The main road of Solo), and about 10 minutes walking to Galabo street food.

Good value when in Solo”
We stayed at Insta Griya 2 for 3 nights in July and it was what I expected. the place itself was ultimately a budget hotel but for the price it was certainly good value. the staff were excellent although most spoke limited English although this wasn't a problem. Wahyu who works at the hotel was incredibly nice and joined us for dinner out one night and showed us around. Also the private driver hire they offer to the main sites (Candi Sukuh etc) is excellent value. The room itself wasn't clean by western standards and there were a few ants in the bathroom but this is to be expected more in South East Asia and so didn't really bother us, especially as the cost of the hotel was not expensive anyway. Overall I'd stay again if in the area.

Sizeable room and good location”
We visited Istana Griya 2 in August with our three small children. We booked the suitewhich was very sizeable. We had an extra mattress on the floor and a little sleeping tent for the youngest, and the kids still had ample room to play. Good clean and safe bathroom (walk-in shower). Breakfast was pretty shabby. Our kids were pretty used to Indo food after two weeks of traveling, but the breakfast at Istana was far far too spicy for even us parents to eat. We had to go out to get food both days. Location is quite central in Solo, accross the room from one of the batik neighbourhoods.

Wonderful stay”
Definitely THE place to stay in Solo. Great actually clean rooms, comfy bed, clean bathroom with hot water, AC, towels and different breakfast every day, included. Walking distance to museums and both palaces and motorbike rental available for 80K/day. The guy who works there, Wayu, is very helpful and will show you all around Solo if you let him (we did!), local style. My only qualm is the wifi, which worked great if you sat on the furniture outside the room; watching videos was hard if you were inside, browsing OK. All in all, would definitely reccomend!

Excellent”
Wahyu spoke good English and made sure that we experienced his city to the fullest. He took the time to give us directions to the sights. What we appreciated the most was that he took us out to try different kinds of delicious street food, gamelan music and even took time on his day off to take us to a village and see the making of tofu, rice crackers and the making of gamelan instrument. He simply made our time in Solo memorable. We ended staying 3 rather than 2 days because of him.

Cheap accommodation with friendly front desk staff”
The best thing I would want to point about this place is the staffs that were very friendly and helpful. They were answering our queries and assisting us without hesitation. A place I would want to stay if I were to return to Solo. The location may not be that strategic (in term of places to visit) but it's very easy to get a cab or to hop onto any of the trishaws waiting for tourists. Just make sure to fix the rate/pax before getting on.

Excellent Choice for us”
Pros - really friendly staff, gave us lots of information, we spoke to him for ages. Free laundry, or you can pay if like us your too lazy to do yourself. Free tea and coffee, pillows were small but happily gave extra, free breakfast. GINORMOUS bed! Quite location, but walking distance to all attractions and food. Breakfast delivered to your door (not sure if this is pro or con though as you eat outside your room rather than at a proper table) Cons - struggerling to think of any, but to be really pedantic- shower temp fluctuates from burning to cold (may be us not managing the gas boiler though). As above, breakfast to the room. Also aircon isn't powerful, so if you want instant cold room it won't work, however over time does the job perfect.

Nice Hotel, Friendly Staf”
Me and my friend very enjoy to stay at this hotel. The staff very help full. Check in and check out very easy and not takes time to much. The bathroom nice and clean. The extra bed little bad because they just use mattress and put it on the floor. This hotel also poor breakfast. But it's ok because this is very cheap hotel

Nice Hotel with a friendly staff”
I was here for 6 days and the stay was enjoyable. The Wifi really only worked in the lobby area as it was very weak in the room, and faded in and out. There was no english speaking channels on the TV, but since i was in Indonesia, that was to be expected. Would have been nice however. :-) They Served Breakfast and you had to be an early bird to enjoy it. They came around at 6 AM knocking on the door saying breakfast was ready. They brought it to the room. Was different breakfast each time, ranging from egg omelet stuffed with rice, to spaghetti. If you got up late the breakfast was there, but was stone cold by the time you got up. They changed the sheets and towels each day and brought you water for the day. The location was ok.

nice new hotel. Very clean and large rooms and big bathroom with separate shower. Included breakfast but breakfast is small just a bit of rice then coffee and tea. Went down the street to a bakery instead. Staff are friendly but English is very limited.

Comfort at a very affordable price”
It was a very comfortable stay for such a price. The free traditional breakfast is a plus. The hotel's main gate is closed when I arrived at midnight, but the bell called the receptionist immediately with a kind welcome.

Highly recommend ”
The room is confortable and the air con worked just fine. The bathroom is big, could be cleaner, but it is enough clean. The water is really hot, or cold. I couldn't manage. It's a walking distance of lots of attractions, there r nice restaurants around and street food. The staff is amazing and help u with everything! It was a great stay!!

Good stay”
Friendly staff, one very helpful guy who speaks good English. The others do what they can. The room was a good size and the bathroom. Hot water works fine and adjusts OK as long as settings are right (boiler settings;low flame and summer). The bathroom needs some tlc and a good deep clean. Breakfast was fried rice, a bit too spicey for breakfast in my opinion, however this is normal for Indonesians. We paid £14 a night and for this it was worth it.
