Far from Takayma city but exceptionnal location”
The Diner was just amazing. Perfect in quantity and very high quality japanese food. You can have a western breakfast if you request it. Staff cannot speak english. They only speak japanese and chinese. There is a free shuttle to downtown whenever you want. You decide the time. A little advise when you arrive at Takayma station, do not take a taxi at it will cost you around 4000Y. You can take a bus (Iwataki Line), departure at the bus station gate n1. Only 3 bus a day but it will cost you only 100Y per person to reach the hotel. The bus stop is about 45min from the train station. Ask the tourist information for more details.

Very traditional and authentic Japanese experience”
The host is very friendly and helpful in terms of pickup services. Even though the location is far from the Takayama City, I still prefer to stay here. With Japanese stay room and breakfast, it's a great place to recommend for staying here while visiting Takayama.

Basic facilities, with friendly staff ,good food”
It's a very simple and basic accommodation facility, but quite pleasant. The rooms are large. The bathrooms are shared. There is a large and very tasty Japanese breakfast and dinner (no Western option as far as I could tell). The staff are very friendly & welcoming, but no English. It is a short (10-15 minute) drive from the railway station to the outskirts of Takayama. The wifi worked OK.

Family so welcoming”
We stayed here for 2 nights in a room for 4 but there were 3 of us. Our welcome was fantastic, the owner was so helpful and could not do enough for us. No English speaking but our son can get by in Japanese so it was fine. Futons to sleep on so mixed sleep. Don’t expect anything fancy but the family were exceptional. We loved staying here. Their 7 year old son was a delight and loved doing English alphabet and counting. Breakfast was Japanese style and so much effort in presentation. Bread and jam available, just ask.

Pro: run by a very nice family, large room, heater free of charge, simple but good western breakfast Cons: outside the city and probably difficult to reach without a car, no name in English so the place is a bit difficult to find (but with GPS it is possible)

It's a perfect get away stay”
The place is only 10 minutes from the bus station and owner provided free transportation to/from station with very flexible pickup time. Family owned business and very great hospitality. After a morning walk, we have an awesome Japanese style breakfast. Highly recommend to stay here.

I enjoyed sumptuous and healthy break the fast meals at the inn managed by a family including the warm private bath at the on zen. A heater provided warmth during the night. I was given a huge room for four people because the advertisement said that it was near the bus station and that there was no more rooms available. Upon arrival, I was the only guest. There was no way for me to cook or buy lunch or dinner as it was far from shops.
