Worth the money!”
The place is nice and clean and worth the money. All the necessary amenities are there. Just some notes/tips for other travellers: 1. The place is a good 5-10min walk from Kyoto Station. For us, it was OK, we didn't mind. It was also close to two temples. 2. Self Check-in is super high tech and automated! We love the idea. But we see others might have difficulty if they're not very techy and not very patient. Make sure to understand the instructions and connect to their WiFi at the lobby if you don't have your own. 3. There's no elevator, keep that in mind. 4. Just be mindful of this when you look it up in Google Maps. There's TWO Japaning Hotel 1- Japaning Hotel KYOTO and 2- Japaning Hotel HAKKOEN. We ended up in Japaning Hotel Kyoto one time and it was FAR from Japaning Hotel HAKKOEN. But getting lost in a new place is part of the adventure ;)

Great value for money, prime location but need improvement on cleanliness”
Positive ++ The hotel was just 10 minutes easy walk away from Kyoto station which was very convenient for getting around. You have 2 Lawsons convenient stores, 1 local supermarket, and several drink dispensers along the way. It was our first time staying at an automated check in/check out hotel so we were a bit apprehensive at first. But following the check in instructions from the email was easy. And the check out was even easier! Hotel and room access was by code so not having to carry around a key was great. We felt very safe at the hotel and that security was very well maintained. We booked the triple room which was sizable for Japan. We loved the amenities provided including having access to a kitchen and washer. We especially loved being able to take hot baths and showers after a long day of non stop walking. Negative -- We found the room generally in a clean condition; however, we found hairs in the bed when we first opened the quilt. There was also a significant collection of dust under the beds. Everything else was clean though. One of us slept in the bed under the air conditioner unit and it dripped a little water. There are no elevators. So those with lots of baggage or traveling with older family members should beware or try asking for ground floor rooms. All in all though, the negatives can be easily fixed and we would definitely go back to stay at Japaning Hotel Hakkoen.

Excellent Location, Fully Automated Hotel”
The location is just a short walk from Kyoto Station. The hotel is fully automated, with no receptionist when you check in. Instructions for check in is also easy. The room we booked is the triple room, and there is a small kitchen and laundry area. The rooms are very nice and clean. Our room was in the third level and you can see the Kyoto Tower from there. Although there is no breakfast included, there is a konbini just around the corner. Luggage can also be stored for free in the main Kyoto Japaning Information Center just in front of the Kyoto Station.

Clean, Nice, Well Equiped Hotel”
Stayed in triple room which is very clean and nice. Spacious for Japan hotel standard. No leave luggage service at the hotel itself but luggage can be kept at the hotel office which is approximately 5-10mins walk away which is a slight inconvenience. However, overall hotel location is very convenient, a short walk to Kyoto station. Washer and drying service within the room is a plus especially when we have been travelling for a week. Recommended for family.

I saw a few other reviews from others, google map gives you the wrong direction! To get to Japaning Hotel Hakkoen, the fastest and most direct way from kyoto station is to walk from the underpass towards kyoto tower direction. You walk all the way till the last exit turn left, along the passage pass kyoto tower. Once u exit from the underpass, you will see a traffic light, don't cross, just keep going straight, until u see the 2nd traffic light, turn right & cross, after crossing walk further straight in, u should see the hotel on your left, you can't miss it when u spot the curtains. Aside from the hiccup by google maps, the location is rather convenient. We travelled with bagpacks so the stairs wasn't an issue for us when we use the underpass. Check in and check out is all done via the ipad at the reception counter. But if you do encounter difficulties, there will be a number and someone you can reach to help you with the process.

Great room and location. ”
This is more of a condo than a hotel room. Has a complete kitchen with utencils, dishes, pots, and pans. A washing machine for clothes and a drying device in the shower room. The best hotel I’ve stayed in at this price point. The only cons were the lack of staff at the hotel. Everything is automated from check in to check out. Although the process was straight forward and easy it’s different from what I am used to. There’s no tv in the room which might be a problem for some, but I was ok with that. The linens on the bed could have been a higher quality along with the pillows but they were clean and good enough. The location is great. Only a short walk from Kyoto Station with many restaurants and shopping centers along the way. Quiet and clean. Would recommend it and if I return to Kyoto in the future I will probably stay here again.

The Hakkoen location is a few blocks from Kyōto Station and also a few blocks from Hotel Japaning’s office where they’ll store your luggage. The building has a secured front entrance and very secured apartment door. Video and telephone equipment at the building’s check-in kiosk allow you to efficiently conduct business with the office. The apartment was clean and adequate for brief stays. There is no television and the mattresses were a bit flimsy (could feel the springs). Overall, a good location and a good choice for budget travelers.

Compact, self-serve, no lift”
A bit of a walk from Kyoto Station, Japaning Hakkoen served our needs for a 2 day tour of Kyoto. We used the washer and dried out clothes as other travellers suggested, which was to use the drying function provided at the shower area to dry our clothing. I have no complains for our stay except that it was a bit of an agony to haul luggage up 3 stories and that you will need to give way to your roommates when going from one spot to another. My experience from booking hotels in Japan is that they are either too pricey or too small, but it may be due to my last minute bookings.

Perfect Hotel in a super area close to all metro & trains”
Very clean room, everything super clean. Spacious and with a washingmachine and small kitchen included. Its really a 10/10 A friendly receptionist which helped us a lot with our questions about sightseein around kyoto. I can really recommend this Hotel! You get a lot for a "cheap" price. We stayed in 3 hotels in kyoto. This one was by far the best. Hahaha i dont comment that mich normally but we really enjoyed our stay! Thanks again !

nice hotel and near”
first coming there a mistake from system we got double bed acrually we ordered triple room but the mistake can solve fast - thank to Sugiyama san (sorry if I wrong put the name) who help me solve the issue. the room is small but it's ok for us, the pantry very complete with stove ( can cooked if you want), microwave, refrigerator, electric pot, also there washing machine and complete bathroom. I love this hotel, will come again and booked with more longer stay.. the location hotel near with Kyoto station around 10 minute walk.

the only think u should know is the checkin is at 4pm which is unusual but can request for earlier depending on availability of room. Ms Suzuki helped me check in earlier and she was the best personnel of any hotel i bump into my 12days stay in japan. its a house turned hotel and more like a self service hotel. but super high-tech and very well taken care. just be sure to book the ground floor rooms if u have big luggage. (no lift)

When booking this place, I was a bit apprehensive, thinking it might be a dorm type accommodation with shared toilets etc. It turned out to be a house that was renovated to have several rooms. Check-in has to be done on your own as there is no staff around. Fortunately, there was a guy at the moment we checked-in that guided us through. If you're patient and follow the instructions in your email and at the check-in counter you will breeze through. Doors are secured by electronic combination locks. For the 3-bed room, you get a modern toilet, shower, bathtub, A/C, washing machine, hair dryer, stove, microwave, kettle, pots and pans, eating and cooking utensils and a travel phone to use. It is near a convenience store so you can buy groceries and do your own cooking. If checking out early, bring your bags over to their office which is about 5 minutes walk away and they can store it for you 24 hours. Near Kyoto Station and several temples, gardens and attractions. =)

房間雖小但什麼都有 Although the room is a little small, there are everything you need.. 地點非常棒,靠近車站，附近也有吃的 Location is very great, you can goto Kyoto station in few minutes. And you can enjoy food and other entertainments nearby this hotel! 最可惜的是整潔..床單看起來很髒，馬桶坐墊也有髒污 It's a pity that the clean.. The quilt look like not clean.. And there is few dirty in the seat of toilet, although I can use paper to clean it.. But I still feel not good at that moment...

Great location, clean and pleasant ”
The location of this hotel is great. Easy walking distance from the mainstation (600 meters). Room&bathroom are clean. Hotel is quiet. Only downside: the check-in procedure is a little difficult if you don't have internet connection (they send you a message when the room is ready). We just opted to show up at 17.50 - check-in is possible till 18.00. They also don't have lockers for you to store your luggage. Thankfully Kyoto station has many lockers, so we used those instead.

Cosy apartment near Kyoto Tower”
The hotel was 10 minutes’ walk away from Kyoto Station which was great! The room was clean and it had all the amenities we needed. The only minor drawbacks are that the bedroom was tiny and the spring of the mattress could easily be felt when lying on it.

1. The location is near to Kyoto Station which ease you to travel here and there using public transport. 2. There is a halal restaurant (Ayam-ya) nearby for muslims. 3. There is no need to worry about losing your room key because all you need is memorise or jot down the room code. (No key needed). The self check-in & check-out is easy as well. 4. The quality of this property is absolutely excellent.

The hotel located about 10min walking distance from Kyoto Station, where can take subway and buses to travel around Kyotoeasily. The hotel is new and clean. There are kitchen and washing machine inside the hotel. The hotel do not provide luggage keeping service before check in. However, the guest can keep the luggage at the main office about 300m away from the hotel. Will stay it again.

Located close to Kyoto Station so easy access to rail, subway n buses. Everyday I just hopped onto one of these to visit various places of interest. Room is very clean, neat and every facility in it is very thoughtful of and functional. Self check-in was easy, even for a first timer like myself. Instructions via email were prompt and clear. Food is everywhere. Besides convenient shops, there is a supermarket 100m away. Yoy can settle your shopping needs here. This place is highly recommended.
