Sweet, traditional room in a great location”

We really enjoyed our stay here. Geune means swing in Korean and this guesthouse had a river with a tall swing in front of it. The owner greeted us and showed us to our room as if we were family and told us where to check out around Jeonju. The room and ceilings were very traditional in look and feel yet very well maintained. The bathroom was modern with a really great shower (thankfully seeing that it was a traditional place). The sleeping arrangements are on thin padded comforters - Korean style, which we weren't used to so we asked for some extra comforters which helped our backs a lot. The location is south of Hanok Maeul and north of the river, so quieter than being in the middle of the main tourist strip. I'd also highly recommend the 순대국밥 spot that's just a few houses down.

Winter visit to Jeonju Hanok village”

Location. Authentic atmosphere. Underfloor heating and bathroom.

Our stay at Jeonju Geune was very pleasant. The staff were friendly and polite but unfortunately not available to give any information about Jeonju Hanok village which would have been most helpful. I think this was mainly a language problem. There were a couple of small things which could have made the rooms more comfortable such as having electric sockets in convenient locations for mobile phone charging etc. A bedside lamp would also have been a nice addition as you have to get up and cross the room to turn out the lights just when you're ready to finish reading your book and snooze off! However, although not used to sleeping on a futon, the warmth from the underfloor heating meant a good night's rest . (Our visit was in late December) One of the best things about this accommdation was the location. 10 out of 10! The house is situated down by the river, and although 5 minutes walk from the busy streets of the village it is very tranquil and peaceful. There is a good, reasonably priced and authentic bibimbap restaurant a couple of doors up towards the village and a delightful cafe with excellent coffee and lovely proprietors a few metres away. Also very convenient location for The Confucian Academy- well worth a visit. Overall though, for the type of accommodation on offer we found it a little pricey.

                    Good hanok experience”

                    Location, people

Stayed during the Chuseok holiday period, tons of people having family outings at JeonJu. Many people rented the traditional outfits for the occation too. Located at one corner of the hanok village, right beside the famous "village school"(HyangGyo). Good location as it is not too far from the crowd, yet far enough for some peace and quiet.

This guesthouse is wonderful! My husband and I enjoyed our stay. The woman who owns the guesthouse is attentive and helped us with any problems. We had breakfast in the building in front of the room. It was a simple continental style breakfast with cereal, toast, eggs, coffee, orange juice, and a few other options, but we both appreciated the more western food. The guesthouse is located on the edge of the hanok village. It's very quiet at night through it might be a little difficult to find using the map on Agoda. Someone sitting near the guesthouse was able to point out where it was. I would highly suggest this guesthouse to anyone visiting the area.

                    Quite Nice Hanok”

This hanok (Korean traditional house) was right on the outskirts of the hanok village so it was mostly quiet and didn't have much street noise. It was a little difficult to find but it is on the main road running along the stream. The entrance is next to the building where you can have a making choco pies, pizza, and cheese experience. We got lucky coming out of the KTX train station and were able to just hop on a red tourist bus to the hanok village to get there with our T-money cards. It was clean and the owner was quite friendly. We spoke mostly in Korean though and I think it could be difficult to communicate in English. You might have to call her with the number on the side of the building to find her. It is also maybe a 10-15 min walk to the Nambu night market and the mural village, while only about a 5 or 10 min walk to the confusion school and hanok village. It was quite nice to be right in the hanok village if we wanted to drop off something or eat something. There is a bathroom in each room and they have a community fridge to share along with an electronic water kettle. It looks like it has been recently redone. We could hear everything well through the walls but I think this is common with hanok. The bathroom was clean as well.
